Update on upcoming winter weather

As Texas gears up for a big storm late week with snow and ice impacts, San Antonio will see a very cold soaking rain.
A strong upper low is now in northern Mexico to our west. Off the coast of Brownsville, low pressure will gradually develop Wednesday then begin to slowly move north along the coast. You'll notice a cloudy day Wednesday in response to this system but it will remain dry across the area.
On Thursday, the slow arrival of the big system to impact Texas should give us a mainly dry commute but there could be a few showers or icy mix in the western half of the Hill Country and parts of our western zone.
Later in the day, widespread rain develops and it will be very cold but above freezing. Roads will be just wet all across the region with only a chance for a couple pockets in the Hill Country to see light icing where the temperature holds near 32 degrees.
