You know, I'm old enough to remember when Em's skin color wasn't a real big deal.... not when it came to the number of people who would be outside and picket his shows simply over his lyrics and topics. Don't get me wrong, people did hate him being successful as a white rapper.... but they also hated him for what he was saying and what he was talking about, not to mention the cussing, FAR MORE than his skin color. It really wasn't until he proved he had STAYING POWER, and HUGELY SUCCESSFUL (3rd album) that the hatred over lyrics and topics died down and the focus became pretty much NOTHING BUT HIS SKIN COLOR. At which point, it was far too late. He had the fanbase and track-record (as well as record tracks) to withstand that line of attack. Not a lot battle rappers , make it mainstream, the ones that have only battle rap in shows , but none have blown up to make albums like Eminem and if they have , it wasn’t successful at all
Ces Cru backpacked battle rapped thru..NY, and different cities until Tech picked them up...and their writing skills and intelligence is ON... especially like you said coming from Battling.
Oh nobody never mentions that, after dre left death row and came back with aftermath Em played a major role.oh and wasn't no black people trying to put 50 on either,so he played a major role in giving 50 a shot on his label.
I saw Eminem the first time at warped tour 1999 in Montreal. Not many people knew who he was cause he only had one song out at the time. People in the crowd were being so stupid and disrespectful but my friends and I were LOVING it. He was very low budget and only had a folding card table for the DJ and some plastic mushrooms for decorations. Then the next summer of 2000 we saw him at the Up in Smoke tour with Dre, Snoop, Ice Cube, D12, Warren G, Nate Dog and others. The difference between shows was insane!
@@iraford5788 yeah, but that was a different period. When Em was going at battles in 96 Hov was already popping and DMX was working whit ruff riders. Plus Eminem was going to the tournaments for money to support him and his family, DMX was robbing ppl whit his dogs for that and hov was slanging dope lol, 3 totally different bringings but all 3 of them were known for battles
@@iraford5788 Battling on the street was harder. if someone asked for you to Battle somebody, especially from another neighbourhood, they were usually asking you to represent your entire neighbourhood. If you made a fool of yourself, you could lose somebody's money in a bet, you could get in a fight with the other rapper if you was winning, you could get beat up by your own friends if you lose. and there were no time limits, you both rap till one of you runs out of raps.
I've said this over and over.. if you look at baseball and notice every time this man is up to bat, he hits a homerun, every now and then he get's a strike thrown on him, but damn near every swing is a homerun... for years and years this man hits homeruns, maybe been struck out once or twice in 20+ years... but every other swing was a homerun.. How is he not good? how is he not on that "Next level".. Baseball, soccer/football, football/nfl, volleyball, rugby, etc. etc.. any sport, if you see a player constantly scoring... c'mon..
That’s the especial ingredients Em back then even to date that his life experiences millions around the world can relate to Eminems life to their own! That ingredients is so profound to sell a record! It’s like listening to a therapy session lol
Guilty Conscience is one of the most Legendary, Artistic songs out there. At that time and even now people would look at it and kind of Ick, specially the last scene LOL. but i still bump that song and go bar for bar. it's just a song, it's art. Ehh BIG UPS TORONTO!! That Interview is Much Music in Canada. We F with Em in Canada heavy. Listen Eminem is a White man, who never tried to claim to be black or be an ally. He grew up around brothers, and did not fall in love with the culture, He grew up in it. He is in the culture as much as any other brother. The colour is not what makes you apart of the culture. it's growing up in it, the struggle and truly growing with your brothers. Eminem is the true definition of an Ally. He can show Both Empathy and Sympathy to the Culture and the people in it. On a Lyrical level, just go back to Em's high pitch voice era songs. His bars and flow was immaculate. When you get a random drive to play a song by someone because you love the fact that you can go bar for bar with the song, and break down thoughtful bars, while appreciating the flow it's being delivered in, That artist is AMAZING Period. i use to go BAR FOR BAR with Superman, not even knowing what it was about as a kid. Now as an adult i go BAR FOR BAR with the song, feeling every last verse and word said. That is a masterpiece if i have ever seen one. Drake even sampled it.
Shotty horroh made music b4 battle rap and still makes music now, good music in my opinion so battle rappers can get bigger from it but it depends how much the fans want to see you make music or just do battles, I guess eminem is the biggest to do the transition

Pickets outside the Interscope offices every night
Hahaha
😂😂
Em gets way too much hate and way too much love. The Stans and Haters ruin the Eminem conversation. He's one of the best ever and earned his respect in the rap game.
best rapper ever
Happy 51st Birthday to the GOAT 🐐
Its sad we havent moved forward towards acceptance and unity in 25 years
Happy Birthday to the Rap God. Marshall. Bruce. Mathers. III.
Not a lot battle rappers , make it mainstream, the ones that have only battle rap in shows , but none have blown up to make albums like Eminem and if they have , it wasn’t successful at all
Happy birthday to the greatest rapper of all time the one and only eminem
Yelawolf Throw It Up- Ft Gangsta Boo - Eminem
Master T was a great interviewer. Shout out to him and Much Music (canada)
Ces Cru backpacked battle rapped thru..NY, and different cities until Tech picked them up...and their writing skills and intelligence is ON... especially like you said coming from Battling.
When World's Collide, SoundBite from the EGO STRIPPER lp.. did you do anything from them by chance back then, I'd love to watch if you did.. 💯
One of the greatest interviews
This interview is so dope 👏🏻👏🏻
Oh nobody never mentions that, after dre left death row and came back with aftermath Em played a major role.oh and wasn't no black people trying to put 50 on either,so he played a major role in giving 50 a shot on his label.
Happy Birthday Eminem 🐐🐐🐐
Kurupt was a battle rapper, probably why he's in ems top 10
It’s amazing that one of Eminem’s best interview was conducted in a parking lot. 🔥🔥🔥
I love this 👉🏽 15:14 😅
I saw Eminem the first time at warped tour 1999 in Montreal. The difference between shows was insane!
dmx and jay Z was known as really good battle rappers before they popped. same as Eminem
They battle rapped on the street but not in professional rap tournaments like Eminem.
Eminem ALSO wrote and featured on “Forgot about Dre” he wrote that whole song.
Baseball, soccer/football, football/nfl, volleyball, rugby, etc. etc.. any sport, if you see a player constantly scoring... c'mon..
I think Americans fail to understand how big Em is worldwide.
51 who wears a massive gold chain with style. Blonde dye to black dye.....kings never die!
Happy birthday 2 the goat 🐐 dude a fkin monster on 🎤 facts 💯 👏 🙌 love seeing 👀 this eminem dude didn't give a fkk😂😂😂
The interviewer is master t, a Toronto legend who is a really nice guy
Ionthink there is any rapper as good as Em, that has the same pedigree as him.
Luv u hip hop 4 giving EVERY1 THAT OUTLET!!!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY EM!!!!!
Eminem wearing a Detroit jacket.. always reppin the D
don't matter what you play for them haters will ALWAYS hatE😅😅😅😅😅
Great interview
Need to get some song reviews marshall monday been dry for a while now
AH. Old blonde Em was a Menace! New Em is a renewed lyrical Genius!!
Yo, Master T from Much Music (Canadian MTV). I used to love his segments.
@9:40 Stevie Knight has become the interviewer.
LMAO😂
The video quality is excellent.
Happy Birthday GOAT!!
Shotty horroh made music b4 battle rap and still makes music now, good music in my opinion so battle rappers can get bigger from it but it depends how much the fans want to see you make music or just do battles, I guess eminem is the biggest to do the transition
Eminem is the real G.O.A.T!! ❤❤
I respect Eminem for never playing victim.
3:27 I remember this interview! Damn I’m old. It’s a little nutty how much Ez Mil sounds like him.
yo that interviewer was smooth af with the questions tho
Much music always had the best interviews
What up Stevie knight glad yr doing well
He can be a great rapper and still be a horrible human being. People forget that stars can have talent and still suck at being humans. People need to quit putting people on pedestals like they are something special.
You should really check out some Bob Dylan tracks sometime. A good one to start with is Slow Train
