I know Mr. Anderson has a LONG history in this sport, but this isn't "aiming" per se. This is PROPER sight and peep alignment and is a phenomenal demonstration of such. Actual aiming is purely a mental focus thing and is something we learn from the first time we point at an object as a child. With archery, we learn to refine that lesson to hit what we perceive as a very small spot at distance.
I wish my peep looked that big LOL. Peep, scope, aim point reticle or pins all centered over target, with consistent form and most importantly the follow through will get it there, unless a gust of wind has any say
Don't feel to silly, I've been using the arrows to shot the bow down range, I had to give archery up because I couldn't afford to keep replacing my bow's.

How your peep and scope rings align is entirely up to you and what you are comfortable with. I prefer to see the inside circle of my scope align with my peep, that way I don't have to try and have a consistent ring of light around my housing, if that makes sense,
I think it's a shame that you didn't go into the complications of keeping both eyes open, either seeing a double image of the target, or a double image of the sight, depending on which one you focus on.

This isn't "aiming" this is proper sight/peep alignment to ensure the arrow is going to go where you ARE aiming. Aiming is mental and focus thing in archery.

Make sure your arrow rest is set up properly. Check the vanes on your arrows to see if there's any marks that would indicate the arrow rest is making contact with yor fletchings. If necessary, go back to setting up your centre shot. Hope that helps.
Could someone explain how the sights are accurate if the sight itself are above the arrow? I’ve tried looking it up but i’m pretty sure I’m wording it wrong because I can’t get any results lol. Very interested on how it works though, can’t figure it out.
the sight is set at a certain distance. if you shoot any closer your arrow will hit high and any further it will hit low. the dot is set to where the arrow will be within its arc at this set distance
It's just like a rifle scope it's way above the bullet. You sight in at 20yards make all the adjustments to get your 20y. Then you moved the sight down According to your sight tape for longer yardage
It's called "archery" for a reason. The arrow follows a trajectory, an arc between you and the target. In order to achieve consistent shooting form, your anchor point is below your eye, or your line of sight. The arrow crosses that line of sight twice, once on the way TOO the target and once again farther down range. Let's say your arrow crosses your line of sight at 8 yards, and comes back down at 70 yards. If you are shooting at 20 yards, your sight needs to be ABOVE your normal line of sight to lower the bow arm to allow the arrow to impact where you want it. If you are shooting at 100 yards, you need to lower the sight in order for the impact point to come UP into the target. I know this is clear as mud without a drawing, but I hope it helps.

Love the tech but personally it's too much. Archery is meant to train an archer to learn to balance and go off instinct. Doesn't feel like a sport when you have a liquid bubble level machine like what

There-in lies the rub! In other words getting all three points lined up on center of target face ( the peep, the dot on the lense and target center) and having the release activate all at the same time. Many factors prevent ANYONE from holding the bow perfectly still ( wind and muscles) on the center of the target. The dot will "float" around in various patterns usually and timing the release activation to coordinate with the dot in the middle of the target is where practice is invaluable. Your brain must learn all this and it takes thousands of shots to keep this reinforced in your brain. There is no MUSCLE MEMORY as muscles DO NOT HAVE MEMORY CAPACITY. You're training your brain to send signals to the nerve system in the muscles is why we need to continually practice. IMO
1000% wrong. You never want to "time" your shots like that. You have a float because you have a pulse. The trick is, once you have everything aligned, to shift your focus off your pin and onto the middle of the target. Once there, you want to "push" the bow towards the target. That will reduce your float to a very minimal amount. Once things settle down, then you work on pulling through your release.
For gravity you can dial that into your sight because that is a constant. Windspeed you usually dont have to ajust for unless it is super windy then you just guess.

Having magnification makes every slight move more apparent. It’s very much like shooting a rifle without a rest or tripod, with the added distraction of having all your upper body flexed and tense holding back the draw weight of the string.
Bear has long been oriented on hunting. Hoyt and Mathews provide support for target archery and tournaments and I doubt you will see any Bear bows in the (current) competitive videos other than bare bow. Hunting videos and in the field, yes. I say that as a life-long Bear bow owner.
Seems a bit like cheating to have such an accurate and complex aiming system. Should have an event with no scopes at all old school style, really check out the men from the boys.
Met a lady at a traditional archery shoot who'd competed at the Commonwealth Games with recurve bows. She recounted that once she was handed a compound bow, with all the bells and whistles, and she fired it three times, said that she could feel she did things differently each time, but the arrows went to the same spot on the target. Didn't like that, and went back to her basic recurve bow for the challenge. Traditional bows are cheaper (or can be made by the user), and don't 'go out of date' :)
I love trad. But a compound bow for me is a more responsible way to hunt. Not that there aren't great trad hunters. I'm just not one. I prefer bare bow traditional horse bow or recurve for target. When you hit the spot you realy deserve the win. ❤
Recurves and compounds seems like cheating to me. Come on over to hatchet hunting and really separate the boys from the real men. If you can’t hit a deer with a throwing hatchet you really should stay home.

No offense to anyone that enjoys it but not matter how many sites you put on a bow it will never be as accurate as you want it to be. Arrows flex way too much so it is nearly pointless to have sites that precise. The best and most practical archery is hunting which requires precision but not an unrealistic amount from a bow and arrow.
You will be amazed at how accurate a compound bow is if the archer holds in the middle and release smooth he can send all his arrows into the 4cm X ring at 50m, the world record is 70/72 arrows into the 8cm 10 ring at 50m

The tail of that shaft is initially trying to "catch" up to the point. At a point in time the shaft can't flex anymore, and the tip finally moves. If you could slow the shot down to about 75,000 frames per second, you'd see how it works.
With all those mods, you'd might as well just use a rifle, or get good at barebowing. Historic archers didn't need all that crap to hit their mark lol. This is one of the dumbest comments I've ever read. The main purpose of GPS satellites isn't to measure the earth, it's to determine position ON the earth for things like travel or military. The extra precision IS important for that & is why it's a lot harder to get lost at sea than it was for explorers working with sextants. Of all the anti-science cliches, imagine attacking GPS.

I do archery but I like barebow. Barebow only needs 20 yards or so to be challenging.

As someone who shoots with both eyes open, I find my left eye kind of "unfocuses" while aiming. My dominant eye takes over fully.

What bow is that I'm looking for shoot through risers.
That particular one is a Hoyt. But PSE and Darton Archery both make something similar. With modern equipment, there is minimal benefit to that system.

For compound shooters, we use a peep sight, that little dot in front of Steve's eye in the video. It has a hole through it to look through.
His peep sight was imbedded in the string so he looks right through it.

Certain compound bows do not have the archer's paradox flex. Including the ones in this video. Which you'd know if you watched it.
