As a minority from a working class background who’s starting their PhD at Cambridge in October this year, thank you so much for this video and your additional videos! They have helped me a lot :’)
I needed to hear this. I started my PhD two months ago and you explained exactly what I am going through right now. I am even scared of saying anything in meetings because I am scared I will be incorrect. Everyone on my team started their PhD over two years ago but they are nice people who are supportive and want me to succeed. It's really a bad feeling when it gets to that point where you are always feeling that you are not even among the smartest in the room. Worse of it all is when you are not yet clear about what you are doing in the first place
I'm starting my PhD in September (in Humanities) and I was humming and ahhing over spending money on an iPad. You've convinced me now. I knew I should go with my gut haha.
Starting my Phd in August. Have been watching you since third year of my Bachelor's ( and just completed my Masters) !!!!. I've always appreciated your content.
I’m starting my PhD this September abroad and I sometimes get REALLY scared thinking about it, even though I wanted this badly for so long! I feel like i kind of wanna run away some days, because i am scared of failing.
Here is something to make you feel MUCH better! I am 70 and starting my Master’s in September! I work full-time in Cybersecurity and intend to continue. I want to study usable security and how HCI theory can be incorporated into software development to encourage users to make safer choices online. So - starting older definitely happens! Oh - and I’m a woman as well! 😃Best of luck in your studies….!
I am going to leave my comment here. once I got the offer letter from uni as well as scholarship, I'm going to go back to this video and watch it. Insyaallah.
im not starting my phd yet, still got a masters to do an apply for but I really liked watching this! pls some tips for masters students? I want to apply for next September, but I can't help but lean towards starting it this year September (some unis still have applications open till July, and the one I want to do is open!)
Hi Dr Amina Thank you for this great channel, I would like to know please if we don't have any research experience how to sell himself for research fellowship position?
Question to the community. Is possible to be accepted in a PhD program with zero papers publish at the moment. ? or any advice to be better candidate with no papers ??
I think it depends on the program. I was accepted without having published anything. My prior research was used as a writing sample to let them see what I wanted to explore in the program.
Thanks, Dr. Amina for your very important video of research. I am starting PhD recently, can I get your email for further assistance, please? Thanks very much.

can i ask one question please ? what are your advice to start how to write synopsis?

I don't know what to expect, our professors teach degree with high expectations, so I learn my writing from phd sites & sources.
Thank you for this helpful video. It has made me even more enthusiastic about pursuing my PhD
I would like to know, do you have any tips to apply for post-doc?
Very helpful
Do you have any advice for finding funding for a PhD?
Do you think further education is value for money or do you think it's overpriced?
In med school but this is interesting 😏
Are you a PhD now? or just in a program?
