I completely agree with you! We had a limited amount of material to use for the build during a visit to my Papaws and if I remember correctly he chose to leave as is. Ideally, i would have incorporated the trim on the side panels via extending the vertical timer on the edges over by 1/2” and decreasing the length of the horizontal timber on the front pieces by 1/2”. Does that make sense? The side panels are removable for storage as well… Thanks for your comment!

Some trim on the corners would complete it nicely so no end grain is showing.
