- News on the television adaptation of A Discovery of Witches and the All Souls Trilogy.
Jane Tranter and Bad Wolf will be producing the series. I will also be serving as executive producer, and will write several episodes.
OMG, OMG, I cannot wait to see it here in America! HUGE Fan!!! I watched Mathew on Downton Abby. I think they will both be great for their parts. So excited now... Thank you Deborah.

not gonna lie, the matthew guy looks not at all like I pictured matthew... Isn't he supposed to have the cool aura of a vampire + sort of look like a wolf? because that guy looks more like a puppy, if you know what I mean haha

It's funny how hundreds of people can read the same book but envisaging the characters we all take a different turn. I agree i really think the Mathew she chose definitely isn't who i had envisaged .. My thoughts whilst some might thik he was too old , i think he had the right amount of dark and brooding intensness about him and th is Mads Mikkelsen :)

Oh wow if it's possible to explode form excitement I may do it ! I'm in Ireland and use the NOWTV box mainly to watch Game of Thrones on SKY Atlantic but OMG I am ridiculously happy about this and as for the casting , well I'm not familiar with the actress playing Diana ( I do remember seeing her in The Sorcerer's Apprentice ) but I like the look of her but on the casting of Matthew , fantastic choice , I love Matthew Goode he is an amazing , charismatic , downright sexy actor who will be perfect for the role of our favourite vampire . Cannot wait to see who else is cast ....... Congrat's Deborah this is going to be so wonderful !

Found this announcement, as well as your books, 2 years later. The TV series lead me to the book trilogy.
I am thrilled to have found a story with so many history in it, and I'm waiting eagerly waiting for more! I'll keep following you work from Portugal, hoping to watch season 2 and 3 soon, as well as more books about the All Souls universe!

I'm so happy for these actors playing these characters. I hope that in the tv series they develop galowglass and diana's relationship with a bit more tension. I detest love triangles but my heart sank when diana saw his tat.. so many centuries of loving diana and he just had to swallow and hide his love. . . 💔

It's been a while since I read the trilogy and unfortunately I am very forgetful when it comes to anything I read. I will have to re-read to see if I can see those two as our main characters but this is still very exciting.

Now that I am reading the first book can't picture anyone else playing Diana and Matthew then Teresa and Matthew I have had ADOW in my tbr on goodreads for a while started reading it once started watching the tv show love both can't wait for S2.
Teresa Palmer looks PERFECT!!! Exactly how I imagined Diana. Matthew Goode looks just right! Dark, thin .. his head shot could be a bit broodier but hey, I know Matthew smiles so it's all Goode 😉. I just have my fingers crossed that when we finally get to see it in Canada, it won't be on stupid Netflix or HBO.

I don't think they will... becuase its TV, they just want them to look as good as possible all the time... when I saw her with her hair down and curled I got a bit anxious haha
Eh....TV doesn't only do pretty. Diana has a bit of an ugly duckling to swan transformation, so they can start her hair a bit frizzy and evolve her looks as it goes. People care about relateable characters more than pretty ones.
Hair's not a big deal right? coz, that's easy peasy for them? I've seen Teresa Palmer in blond a lotta times. Shes' great!

I have to say I am a bit disappointed in the choice for Matthew. While the actor is good looking, he looks nothing like the Matthew I have envisioned after reading the books. A darker, more somber, taller, broad of shoulder, type is what I expected. This guy looks like a pre teen vampire, not someone who is as old as time itself, much less someone who demands respect and attention. I am very disappointed.
Diana is born in 1976, an experienced scholar, a woman in her thirties... the Actress is a beautiful young lady but looks like a student; and the Actor playing Matthew looks tragically young too. Where are the charisma and maturity, predatory qualities of an alfa-male combined with strenght and wisdom of a man older than time itself? I DO love the books and they both can be talented professionals. And, of course, the series is not only targeted towards readers of the books. The non-readers may find the main characters credible but for the readers they will be simply out of place.The story is an ideal material for a brilliant tv series but the casting of main characters is crucial for the success of the venture... WHAT A GIGANT PITY :(
Matthew Goode is 40, which is older in human years than the character he's playing, who was 37 when he turned. How old do you want the actor to be? Although I agree, I don't think I would have chosen Matthew Goode. He doesn't have that dark sex appeal that I think a vampire needs, especially someone like Matthew, although admittedly I've only ever seen him in the Imitation Game and that was a long time ago. I don't know who I would have chosen because I knew he'd been cast when I started reading the books.
Ian Somerhalder as Damon Salvatore is usually held as the gold standard for dark, sexy, dangerous vampire, and if you see his earlier stuff, you'd have never thought that was likely. Matthew might surprise us all.
Wrong actors!!!! That couldn't have been what you imagine when you wrote the books or I would have torched my copies. Palmer looks like a freshwoman not a professor. I'm not saying Maggie Smith should play the part but there is a certain maturity, gravity, and strength to Diana that Palmer may not fully convey. As for Edward Cullen playing Matthew: I just want to barf! NO NO NO NO NO NO NO ಥ_ಥ NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Come on Deborah! This trilogy is too good to let some stupid TV people make bad decisions like that. ಠ_ಠ Upset! (•̀o•́)ง Frustrated! What next? Pikachu as Corra? ϞϞ(๑⚈ ․̫ ⚈๑)∩
Very disappointing. Your choice for Matthew just ruined it for me. You need a man with smouldering intensity and tenderness which that guy just doesn't have. I've seen him opposite juliana Margueles in The Good Wife and there was no heat, no magnetism at all from his side and compared to the role of Mathew, that role wasn't even demanding. I could see him as a milk toast scholar, but not as a Matthew. Better rethink that one.
watch him in Stoker!! please give him a chance before saying no hahaha, he is a great actor, and I haven't seen The Good Wife, but, in Stoker he truly proves himself...
Aneth Ochoa's right. GIVE him a chance. then we can debate and decide. I saw him in The Imitation Game. He pretty much has a charm and the french look too. For me, though he was just a supporting actor in the imitation game, I NOTICED him. he's got the looks. yea. the french look. yea. sooo yea. he pretty has a good chance of making MY Matthew real. AND Teresa Palmer is perfect! I can imagine her being Diana. OOOHH!!! SO EXCITED!!!
