I do landscape design. I thought it was funny that nobody mentioned that you need to know about plants. Do they need sun or shade, how tall do they grow, what zone are you in, etc…
@ interesting, I would think it would depend on your clients style. If they are into ultra modern, I can see how that might be true. My clients here in Northern California still are very much interested in plants. To each their own.

New generation of designers don’t focus on plants anymore, it’s where the industry is headed

A lot of it is a one time purchase. Mainly the software and computer
