I teach engraving, sandblasting, and fusion at the Corning Glass Museum Make Your Own Glass Studio. Safety is very important as glass dust is dangerous to your health. A fine mist of water will prevent the dust. Your lungs, skin, and work space is fully contaminated with silica dust. If water bothers you working with an exhaust hood would help.
You just answered most of my questions that I have been asking a glass engraver forever. She wont answer unless I join her group and pay her. Many thanks, this will be my go to video.
Thank you! Your casual explanations during this have answered so many of my basic questions that I have not been able to find in any other video. This along with not editing out the process also let me see the different types of sweeps, strokes and small circular patterns you used on different areas. Great job thank you!
Go to a scrap yard first and get a window from a car similar to yours. More than half of automotive window glass will shatter when engraved. You may have to use a vinyl cut stencil and a glass etch chemical.
Hi I've just came across your video's I'm new to glass engraving , you explain what your doing really well , I look forward to learning more about glass engraving process . 😀
I'm fixing to start my first drimmel engraving on double pane ( 2 pieces glued around the edges,) and I'm sketching my own picture. My question is, Would any background I do be engraved on one side and closer would be on the other piece? I have only done acid etching, I'm stuck on the demention thing, lol
Are you using diamond bits? Do you always work without water? I was under the impression that grinding dry was't good for the bits. At what speed are you working at for the letters, and what speed is "low" when you begin the white areas? That whole piece was done with one size bit?
More vids will be coming up in future and will be answering all these questions you have...thank you for the questions...I will give you the answers in . I've never used water..had no problems...bits did go quick...speeds I will show in all my vids from now on along with bit I'm using...more answers in coming vids...ty
I’m an artist, or at least I’d like to think so, and just want to say that while constructive criticism is welcome and appreciated, I always hope it is going to be followed up by a compliment lol. Usually with artists it’s a goal that the end results do please the viewers. That said, wear a mask and keep your bits cool, and you do beautiful work!!! Thank you for your time!!
Great work I'm new at etching glass but I like to do pyrography when I have spare time. Skulls are the one thing I love doing so this was very helpful. Is it OK to use the green bit you used on tempered glass. I recently acquired a huge glass table top off a friend and as soon as I seen it I knew what I wanted to do with it but I need to get a little better and do some research 1st. The glass I have is a table top 5/8 thick and 5 foot round with a beveled edge so you can see why I don't want to screw it up. If you have any suggestions and you have the time to send them to me I'd greatly appreciate it. What you did there was what I could only hope to accomplish on that table. Beautiful work brother. My hats off to ya for sure.
I have nerve damage in both hands and arms. I have a slight to medium tremors. Do you or anyone, think I could do this kind of thing? Seriously thinking about buying a Dremel. But the tremors has me not thinking I can
I've tattooed...this is way easier than tattooing...from my experience..everything I do I got from the tattoo world, my stencils my technique, my thought process as a whole came from the tattoo world... what I do gives tattoo artist the perfect practice method..it teaches depth, technique, tones, portraits, and many other things that you can only learn by doing...tattoo mentors can teach what this does not....alot more vids are coming...subscribe if you havnt yet..thanks for commenting and watching..

Extremely insightful! Great to see how these shades are actually accomplished step by step. Please make more videos!!?
Thank you very much
Killer piece and skills!
love your video . I learned a lot thank you. Cant wait to see more videos
That looks perfect. Could you show what diamond tips you use for different area's or for the different effects please. Thank you 👍😷👍
How much glass dust have you inhaled? Probably a good idea using a mask and goggles doing this kind of thing.

What tips are you using or did I miss that?
What tip and glass do you use?
Nice work what kind of bit did you use
Thanks for the video!
Hi! I have a question, is there any finisher liquid or serum to apply to the glass? Or do you leave it just as it is? Thank you
Weres your musk bro

I assume you are using diamond tipped Dremel accessories? Any particular size or type?

How thick is that glass 1/8?
What he said ? What size and type of glass ?
Can you color the glass
Is that one of the soft polishing stones
Will this work on plexiglass or plastic
Yes, just watch your hand pressure..plex and plastics are very soft and you can go deep very quick...
Thank you

Try it and see you'll only be out the price of a dremel. Borrow one even and use an old photo frame, it's fun to try.
Great job. I've been etching with a dremel for about 20 years.i use diamond bits.maybe I'll try the stones sometime. Nice work bro.
That look awesome if you painted the back of the glass black
What bit were you using
Definitely not as easy as tattooing nice work

You should probably use a mask 😷. This can really damage your lungs. Otherwise great job.
Breathing just as much glass as a pack of Newport
this would look better intaglio. its good, and the vid is ok as instruction, but water and ppe werent mentioned as far as i heard.
An antimasker before it was cool 😂
No mask, eh?! 😂
You should really wear a mask and goggles! glass dust cant be good for health!!
