Roy Khan coming back is still one of the best things in the last few years and hearing that he still has it as if he never actually left makes it that much better, no matter how many times I hear this song and the rest of the album it still makes me say "I missed this voice so much".
@@drumboarder1 I hope you eventually grow to be less selfish. Khan needed to rest his mind and he did the best he could do. Besides, Conception was his first career band, so, if anything, he came back home.
I'd long made peace with Khan never making music again. I understood his reasons for having left and in my heart wished him well. After all, I still had plenty of Kamelot's music and fond memories of having seen him and the band twice. Unfortunately Conception hadn't been as known to me at the time, something I am definitely planning to rectify. But now he's back and that blessed voice has been like a revelation. His is truly a divine gift and I'm so happy he's sharing it with us once more. I've got this song on repeat on Spotify. I especially love how he sings "conquer/divide" - the way his voice falls then rises.
Everyone jumped on the Kamelot wagon, but all these years he spent with them, no one ever bothered to even casually check what he was doing before. No one knew Ostby. I'm not even going to mention Ostby's Ark, with J.Macaluso and J.Lande. That is quantum physics for many "fans". Also no one knows Kamelot already had two albums, before Khan joined. Says a lot about the (not so) self conscious metal community.
I discovered Kamelot in 2015 maybe, fell in love with Khan voice and searched for everything with him, Conception included. Please don't judge all the fans because of some of them :) And Kamelot is a lot more easy to discover, that's the fact. How I wish it to change and Conception being big😁
@@carin4139 I knew he was In Conception before Kamelot for two albums. Amazing song. Songwriting, lyrics, production and performance are top notch. Also, I think Roy's voice is at "Black Halo Era" level in this song. He's back.
Conception are sublime. Everything is just enough.. the guitar riffs & shreds, the drumming.. the whole rhythm section just flows & pulsates. It's the songwriting style, the instrumental sound & Roy on vocals.. just pure Conception, to which we've grown accustomed.
The lyrics of this song are absolutely amazing. "Waywardly broken from all the foul seeds I have sown" and "That someone else victoriously fought out." Pointing right to Jesus. Incredibly powerful song about from what was, to what is. Thank you for that!
It really gets better each time I listen to it. I love it. I'm really loving the way it's sung. Something I especially love about the sound of Conception, from earlier albums to those new songs, is that I wouldn't label it as metal music but at the same time it is metal music. I love metal music don't get me wrong, but oftentimes I grow tired of how much it's been codified (like metal needs to be speedy, or loud, or technical (I especially find this one ridiculous)), and Conception already went way ahead of those codes in the 90s, and they continue to do so now. You have all my support guys!
Well, this is something....Music is so well written, but of course, the voice of Roy Khan sort of seals the deal. Damn that voice is one of a kind, and I remember hearing it towards the end of Kamelot days, it was a bit shot down, but now it's back to form and beyond! 2020 seems good, can't wait to hear the rest!

Love this song, and Roy Khan you are one of my all time favorite heavy metal singers of all time. Love the fact that you decided to return to music with Conception. Great stuff.
Roy is an true artist, after many years in Kamelot, that gave him both experience and a new way to «perform» his feelings using his one of a kind vocals to the crowds and fans. His voice is out of this world. Truly amazing. If rest of the album will be like this , it will be the album of the year. A great band that i have follow from the start. They will headline with Kamelot as support some time. 😂
True. The legacy Khan left behind him in Kamelot is amazing - after all these albums Karevik still sounds like him and never created anything original. Band likewise from 2012.
Yess, you're right. Thomas Youngblood said in interview, Khan used to write all keyboard parts and now it's Oliver's job. Karevik maybe writes lyrics but I was always amazed by Khan's lyrics, I mean, he's not even native English speaker.. his songwriting to me is just like his vocals - one of a kind😁
Carin Khan is absolutely not only a spectacular songwriter but he's absolutely a performer in the absolute strictest sense of the word. I've been blessed to meet him a few times and you can just TELL he's always got another song stuck back there he's just trying to work out.
