Happy to hear that you made it safely! Your content is always enjoyable but in this video you were exceptionally exuberant. It was an absolute joy to see!
Hey there, we missed you on Sunday. Thank you so much, this new adventure is quite exciting - a new friend of ours said he believed it would add a couple of decades on to our lives. We Receive that Blessing!!🥰
Hello there! Saw a video a few weeks ago but did not subscribe. This video popped up and let me tell you…Love your vibes, content and attitude. I am also a member of Stephanie Perry, Our Rich Journey, Adalia. These people are simply amazing! All the best in your new journey! 🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽
Thank you for watching and for the encouragement - it took me 6 tries to get my metro card. Lesson learned: get up earlier and get my butt down to that office. 🤪
Hey Ayesha, we're here and loving it. We feel so blessed to have been able to make the move this quickly, with the hiccups and all. We've already learned so much from our mistakes. 🤗
So excited to see that you guys made it to Lisbon and are settling in! I’m still researching areas around Portugal and on my most recent trip last month I’ve decided that I need to be near the water. The areas near the water (Lisbon, Cascais, etc.) are absolutely stunning. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos around Lisbon.
Yessss, it has been a month though it feels longer. 😎. We're putting together a series to show each Freguesia and the barrios in each. All freguesias are not created equal and so when you're apartment hunting you should take in to consideration who's in charge of the area and are they dedicated to providing great services. Do you have your list of 'Must Haves' and 'Nice to Haves'?
@@OurBlackUtopia Yes, my major must have is close to public transportation and easily accessible by bus/train. I don't plan to have a car, so that's a must. I'm somewhat flexible in the location, I don't need or even necessarily want to be in the middle of Lisbon (I'm a bit torn about this, though). I'm working remotely, so I'll be in the house a lot. Although, access to a co-working space might be something to consider (it's a "nice to have"). Still lots to consider, but I'm shooting for late spring or fall of next year. Since I'm in Morocco at the moment, it's easy to hop over and try different areas. I already know that the Porto area isn't for me.
Lesssgo! 😉 Sandra, thank you so much for watching. If you are seriously considering a move abroad, here are some resources that might help which includes a Scouting Trip Checklist and our Ready to Retire Toolkit that has links to the databases that we use to check cost of living information and human rights for cities around the world: bit.ly/OBUresources
Wow! I’m so happy I found your channel for so many reasons. Hubbie and I are in our 50s and are not prepared for retirement. To Be honest I found out about FIRE a few years ago and thought we were just too late. I also watched Our rich journey videos but skipped the financial ones. I just joined your FB group and will check out more of your videos. Keep the content coming.
WELCOME! When we first found Our Rich Journey I only watched the Portugal vids too!🤣🤪. I'm glad that you found us too, for no other reason that it is NEVER too late. For us we truly didn't think we could ever retire! The two keys for us were: 1. no debt (house and fed. student loans I don't count). 2. TRULY living within our means which means living off of 1 social security check while still investing. If we can do it nearly anyone can! If you don't have it yet here's our Ready to Retire Toolkit: bit.ly/readytoretiretoolkit
Ik the Live session is over. But will you do a video about the healthcare system there? Especially for us older folks. I’m 57, my husband is turning 64 this month. Thanks! As always thanks so much for all the info you provide! 👍🏽
Good evening, happily started watching you a few months ago when I discovered you during my internet research on moving abroad. My name is Teresa aka Terry from Brooklyn here, 55 and married with 3 children, 27, 21 and 16. We’re interested in Barcelona, Spain which I’ve visited twice and are planning to visit Portugal soon. I am a School Psychologist employed in the department of education and have 14 more hrs to retire which I’m dreading. I so enjoy watching and learning from you. Congratulations on your move abroad and thank you for sharing your journey!
Thank you 🙏🏾 so much for watching and being a part of the community! Girlfriend do you really want to do 14 more years? I certainly don’t want that for you. There are financially creative ways to move that date up! Have you gotten the free Ready to Retire toolkit? If not, the link is in the description below.
I just touched town in Lisbon yesterday from the Bay Area. OMG!! It’s no wonder you moved here. I love this place. So excited to me here. Maybe I will bump into you sometime. Haha😂
Thanks again for all of the great information. I learned some head-turning stuff today! (Residency in both Mexico and Portugal?!! Say what??) Its a beautiful thing, your consideration for other people who may not be able to afford assistance . . .
SF has entirely too much territory. Our immigration person said that all of the other offices are responding belt 4-6 weeks. It’s been over 8 weeks for us. 🤞🏽

Not right now. We don't want a car, so we will have to see what our utility bills are looking like, we have not had to pay for a full month yet. I'm more concerned about Putin being more stupid but we honestly haven't been following the news - that's part of my detox from the USA. 🤗
Hey there, his info is in the description and I will link it here too. He's not an agent though, he's better. Agents here, for the most part, only show you apartments that they are listing as opposed to any available. It doesn't work the same way as it does in the states. The other thing is that the majority of apartments are individually owned. The concept of corporately owned apartments that will always and only be rentals is not really a thing here. Hello Yoleine, we do not use a financial advisor. We got rid of him when we started studying investing ourselves. We've saved on fees (because he always pushed funds that would give him the biggest commissions) and our portfolio is healthier than it has ever been. We have a FB group to learn from and support each other called F.I.R.E. over 50. (you don't have to be over 50 to join just from the Diaspora) bit.ly/FIREover50
Sorry we missed this follow up. UA-cam doesn't alert us to replies the way it does for new comments 😳. We love the area - it's far enough away from the hub bub not to have a lot of tourists but close enough that we can walk to the main tourist traps.

Hey Priyanka, great to see you in the live chat this week. Thank you so much!
Catching up on the replays. I’ve just got to figure out the logistics in applying for both Mexican and Portuguese residency.

What is the link for Americans and friends
Just put Americans & Friends in Portugal into Facebook and they will come up.
Can Ocini/ the real-state agent please?
