Glad to see this comment. The whole movie while entertaining is riddled with inaccuracies. Menelaus dies in the movie but in the book he returns home. Agamemnon survives the war but is later murdered by his wife on the return home. You cover Ajax and Hector well. And then in the fight against Achilles and Hector I love the way they spice it up in the movie but it takes away from Achilles cuz in the book Achilles kills him pretty quickly, it was lent that the two fighters were close, nobody was anywhere near the skill of Achilles. They also totally don’t even have Diomedes in the film but he’s a total badass in the book.
@Dan Lumo I mean I wouldn’t call it history but I get what you’re saying. At the end of the day they have to make the story screen friendly and while for example in the context of the book, Achilles killing Hector is dramatic, that scene written strictly off the book would be very underwhelming on screen so I get it, that’s why I prefaced my comment by mentioning that the movie is entertaining albeit inaccurate.
@@smallville4351 No, he wasn't. He fled from Achilles when filled with fear from Apollo, but then turned and faced him. He actually dodged Achilles first spear and charged straight at him despite Athena returning the spear to Achilles' hand. Dude was a beast and a true hero.
Hector remains in the annals of history. The real hero. Never unjust. A great prince, a humble son, a caring brother, a visionary philosopher who could see through the superstition of the priests, a caring husband who guides his wife about the ways to safe passage. And above all a true warrior... tired, wounded, yet accepting the duel with energetic & fresh Achilles knowing well he was bound to lose his life. Salute you Hector.

it must be one of the most satisfying things in the world to challenge and defeat a man who's twice your size while your whole country and your wife are watching you.
When I was a boy, I cheered blindly for Achilles, with his flowing hair and flashy moves. As a man, I cannot help but admire the resolve of Prince Hector of Troy. To embody such prowess of self, is a feat more legendary than even the combative skills of the man who slew him.
@@Alvin_Vivian You idolise the man that happily prayed for his comrades to be slaughtered so everybody would know how important he was to him? Bit weird
They should've stuck with the original story - Hector doesn't kill Ajax, they fight to a brutal draw and each earn the other's respect. Still a great scene though.
in the original story Ajax ends up shamed and kills himself. I prefer this version, at least here he died in battle fighting another hero, and not falling to his own sword.
To be fair, Hector had been fighting the Greeks every since they landed. Achilles only had one battle and that was when he and his men first arrived. Not to make excuses but Hector was tired and bartered from the earlier battles.
Hector had a Long night to rest up...and as you said, Achilies hadn't been fighting in a while...so technically, he should have been in lest physical shape to meet Hector, who (as you say) had been fighting greeks constantly. Just goes to show that Achiles, even when resting, was Vastly more skilled than Hector!
Undriel Grenger Hector was not mentally prepared for Achilles. He had just killed his cousin which in the Illiad was his lover. He was stressed and troubled about that. In addition like I said before he was tired and fatigued from previous fights. One night of rest was not going to make up for all that. Achilles was a gifted born killer. It didnt matter for him whether he hadn't fought in a month he was always ready to go. He is damn near a war God. The fight between the two would have been more of a challenge for Achilles had it happened at their first meeting at Apolos temple when Hector was eager to battle him. It would have been even more of a challenge if the person in his armor was really Achilles when his cousin was killed.
Long time after watching the movie, I understood that Hector was the noblest man in the entire saga...A man who has to face everything for the sake of his family and country... ❤️❤️
I love how Ajax punches Hector even though he got stabbed through the gut. Then he proceeds to break the spear in half as blood gushes out of his mouth and beat him with it with the other half still in him XD What a badass.
I've huge respect for Hector for being not just a good brother, but a good Prince, Leader and definitely a true Warrior Hero Legend. With a caring heart of a Big Brother, Skills rivaling that of Achilles', bravery of a lion, and wisdom of a Deity. Hector was more a respected man and legend than of Achilles' egoism, but both strong and legendary Warriors indeed. RIP Hector, the Hero of all of Greece and Troy! 🔥
I love how it isn't over-emphasized that the people around them are watching them, the battle rages on despite these two fighting, but then when Ajax finally falls, a huge cheer erupts from the trojan soldiers. It's uplifting without being cheesy.
FeedMoreNoobs If he bought a thornmail he would have survived those basic attacks while returning dmg to Hector. The other option is to buy a warden's mail to slow hector's attack speed which was quite high as it was.

I always loved the showcase of reactions starting from 2:04. Andromache: relief and joy that her husband is still alive and has triumphed. Priam: undescribably pride and joy at the great feat of his son, defeating such a monster of a warrior. Achilles: utterly pissed to see a good friend, Ajax, die on a pointless war for the ambition of a strategic moron, Agamemnon (who basically sent the army to die on that charge).
Hector defeating low-budget Goliath in front of his dad & wife is a massive flex for real🥳🎉Achilles was indeed a great warrior but Hector takes the crown of being a leader & level headed man
Iliad: Lots were drawn amongst the Achaean heroes, and Ajax the Great was thus chosen to face Hector. The battle between the two great warriors began at dawn, and lasted through until dusk. Neither Ajax nor Hector could gain the upper hand in the fight though, and eventually heralds called an end to hostility, at which point the two heroes exchanged gifts, Ajax presenting Hector with a sword belt, and Hector giving Ajax a sword. Hollywood:
Well, I mean by our modern movie standards, it would be silly to do a fight in the manner that Homer (or whoever actually wrote the Iliad) presented it. I mean just imagine them spending like half an hour of movie on a fight, just to then both of the fighters be like: "Hey man, it's like the dusk. Shall we call the day? It was a good fight. Here, have some gifts. See ya tomorrow." It would be silly, wouldn't it?
@@justinian-the-great It was either accuracy or not but then again this is modern retelling with "what if the gods didn't interfere with the trojan war"
The beauty of this scene is that is reveals just what a great leader Hector was. He sees a villain killing his people and he decides to take the responsibility to personality stop this villain instead of hiding at the back.
When Ajax realizes that he's playing against Juventus in the Champions League. EDIT: Ajax seemed to finally lift the curse of taking Ls against Juve, but historically speaking the latter has more dubs.
In ancient Greek mythology, Hector did not kill Ajax, on the contrary Ajax survived the death of many and even took out the body of Achilles from Troy and gave the body to his mother for this Thetis thanked and gave the armor of Achilles to Ajax
Not quite that happened - after recovering Achilles' body, both Odysseus and Ajax argued, whom the armour shold belong to. Odysseus won with the help of Athena, who also clouded Ajax' mind, forcing him into slaughtering a lot of lifestock (whom he believed were the Achaean leaders according to some interpretations.) Shamed by this, Ajax commited suicide by his own sword. Later, when Odysseus visits the Underworld, he meets Ajax' soul and regrets about his victory, losing such a great warrior. However Ajax is still offended and won't speak to him...
A lot of people are saying this scene is bullshit because when Hector and Ajax fought in the Illiad it was actually Ajax who dished out the worst of it, although the fight lasted all day without a foreseeable end in sight so it was called off come nightfall and ruled a draw, with both fighters imparting a gift to each other out of respect. However, a lot of you seem to forget that Hector and Ajax actually fought twice in the Illiad, and their second fight took place during a battle between the Trojans and the Greeks - much like you see here. Their second fight was fierce and largely a stalemate - much like you see here. However, in the Illiad, Hector did eventually get the best of Ajax by breaking his spear - much like you see Hector eventually best Ajax here except he kills him instead of disarming him. In the Illiad, Ajax called a retreat after being disarmed since he couldn't fight Hector bare handed and his men were being mowed down by Troy's archers. I'm pretty sure this scene is based on their second fight and while it may still not be 100% inaccurate, it makes a lot more sense when you look at it this way.
in a nutshell and without going crazy over grammar and details, after the second fight ajhax is disarmed yet unscathed and ajax makes it home, as does the armor of Achilles, which is put up as a prize for the victor of a tournament ajax loses, which afterward he goes crazy, slaughters a bunch of sheep and then falls on his sword and kills himself, he is considered to have had ptsd
No, they actually fought thrice in the Iliad, and the only time Hector got close to winning was when he was aided immensely by Zeus himself. In their first duel, which both the Achaeans and Trojans beheld without interfering since it was an arranged one on one battle, Ajax and Hector were ultimately interrupted before they could swing swords at each other but it was Ajax that wounded Hector with his spear prior to all that, not vice versa. In their second duel at the Achaean ships, Ajax knocked Hector unconscious with a big rock and Trojans had to carry him away from the field of battle in order to save him from being finished off. When Hector finally woke up after all that mess, Apollo, on the orders of Zeus, bestowed him with an indomitable strength which he used to get the upper hand in their third encounter - the one you mentioned. You're welcome.
Prince Hector, - the bravest soldier ever, - Confronted, Fought & defeated the mightiest .... only beaten by Achilles, who was protected by the gods, - he knew it, but still fought him, knowing he would be killed ... BRAVE Hector .... greatest Hero of all time ...
I love how this comment section is full of people with no knowledge about Ancient Greek society or the Iliad, but still want to judge the characters and the plot thinking that this film is the Iliad itself. No, the Iliad is not about the fall of Troy, it is about Achilles' anger (as the very first line states) and the core content of the poem is the difference between Hector, who is a grown man, kills to protect his city, a good father and the true hero, and Achilles, an immature boy who likes killing for the pleasure of it and doesn't care about his son (yes, he has a son). In the end, after killing Hector, Achilles understands what it means to be a man while talking to Priam; that's the true message of the story.
INCORRECT The Illiad is about Héctor. Aquilles is a crybaby who only appears in five chapters, while Héctor is the man who defends his land and family. The Iliad finish with Hector's funeral. Héctor, Tamer of Horses
I never knew why I admired Hector. He was total ideal or a symbol... Now, after many years I know - he always had something to fight for. This is what I miss. .
That is wrong, Ajax never gets wounded in any battle. He actually fights Hector, but the fight is stopped by the gods when the night falls, it is declared a draw, and the two men exchange gift as a sign of respect towards another.
@DAVO CAMPBELL A lot of the details probably are. But mythology defines cultures. Multiple people wrote of Troy and the heroes in it and they believe they know where Troy was located now as well
Everyone is giving his or her opinion of each warrior's fighting prowess. But Homer provides us with a ranking if you read between the lines of his writing. I'm basing the following on Homer not on Brad Pitt's flawed movie. FIRST TIER: (supernatural) Achilles. Achilles is in a league of his own. In one way, he is like the incredible Hulk in that the angrier he gets the deadlier he gets. He doesn't have super strength but rather invulnerability in battle. When pissed off, he goes berserk. When you combine his hot temper with being impervious to attack (except in his heel) it is no wonder that the Trojans run from him. SECOND TIER: (extraordinary) Diomedes, Ajax, Hector, Odysseus. These four are as formidable as warriors can get without having supernatural ability. Some argue that Diomedes is the 2nd best fighter after Achilles. others say it is Ajax (who like Achilles had a ferocious temper). Hector briefly faces off against Diomedes but it's a draw. Hector also has a duel with Ajax but again it's inconclusive. Ajax has a wrestling match with Odysseus. Even though Ajax is taller and has a longer reach, Odysseus is pretty strong and the match is also a draw. Conclusion: Homer indicates in so many words that these four heroes are more or less equal in fighting ability. THIRD TIER: (above average) Aeneas, Patroklos, Ajax (the lesser) Menelaus. Aeneas is an excellent fighter but not quite a match for anyone in the above tier. At different times, he is almost killed by Diomedes and Achilles and just barely escapes. He is a much deadlier fighter in Virgil's book than he is in the Illiad. That indicates that he either became a more proficient warrior with time or that he had more ferocious opponents during the Trojan war. Patroklos was also an excellent fighter but not a match for Hector. Ajax (the lesser) was not as strong as the bigger Ajax but he was excellent with a lance and with a bow and arrow. Menelaus killed 8 men and almost killed Paris so he's no cream puff either. FOURTH TIER: (average) Paris, Troilus. These two are only average fighters. That is not to say that they were wimps. Just not exceptional. Paris true skills were in the bedroom. He was a lover not a fighter. But although he was only average in sword fighting, he was a damn good archer. And almost as cunning as Odysseus. As for Troilus, there doesn't seem to be anything exceptional about him. He has the same problem as Paris. He thinks too much of love to be a great fighter. Cannot take his mind off of Criseyde.
toussaintf1 I think you have got it together quite well. However didn't Diomedes almost kill Hector twice, being prevented from doing so the first time only by Zeus, and the second time when Paris shot him in the foot? And wasn't he described by Helenus the seer as "the mightiest of the Greeks", "unrivaled in power", even above Achilles? Didn't he also beat Ajax during Patroclus' funeral games? And wounded both the god of war and the goddess of love with Athena's aid? It's truly a pity that he was rarely mentioned in any adaptation of Troy. Although I guess Homer himself did say that after Achilles, Ajax was the mightiest fighting man ;)
John Huang Homer praised everyone. Ajax was the mightiest because for those ages he was tall (probably 6 foot and maybe shorter). Homer mentions in a rhapsody that Ajax was the second best and sometimes mentions in another rhapsody that Hector or Diomedes were the second best. Only Achilles as a fighter was above everyone.
That is my favorite scene from the movie, and also in my honest opinion it is the best scene from the movie. Very beautiful and nice fight and battle scene. Greece forever 🏺 🔱 🇬🇷 I am very proud that I'm a Greek 🇬🇷 🇬🇷 🇬🇷
Hector is the hero of this movie. The story literally consists in Achilles gradually learning compassion, humanity and true heroism from him and his family (Briseis and Priam), so when his death finally comes he’s no longer a glory hound, but an actual hero.
The way they choreographed this fight was excellent. The weight of that warhammer felt real and dangerous. Even for a man that big he was slow but extremely powerful. I wish hollywood still gave a shit like they used to. Unless it's Quinton or Scorsese
When I was a kid, I admired Achilles for obvious reasons(cool, powerful, can kill many enemies alone with ease, etc) but as an adult, I definitely admire Hector more. There were a lot of fights where it's clearly an uphill fight, and he still marches on with no fear. Even when He knows he will die when fighting Achilles, he still confronts him.
read the actual illiad from which this is based..... all the heroes are heroes there is so much character development and intrigue. its a great book. right up there with beowulf in terms of masculine epics.
I've always been a Hector fan, even back then. He was just sucked into all this shit. His stupid brother was the cause for all this, then he fought someone who looked like Achilles only to find out afterwards he was not but that only raised Achilles' anger.
Hector was a successful leader, incorruptible, set aside his ego, stood on his morals and had a beautiful wife. Achilles couldn’t be reasoned with, would (and could) kill anyone that opposed him and had three women in his bed every night. It’s interesting our logic wants us to be the former.. but deep down… we all want to be the latter
***** Don't get me started. I really enjoyed the movie but there were SO many things that were wrong or left out from the original story. Just the fact that King Agamemnon dies at Troy. He survived and made it back home, only to be killed by his wife and her lover. Still a cool flick!
Ajax was not killed by Hector, and could not have been killed by him : apart from Achilles, Ajax was the only other immortal on the battle field of Troy, he could not be killed by anyone (but himself). In Homer's Iliad, Ajax at first gets the better of the encounter, wounding Hector with his spear and knocking him down with a large stone, but Hector fights on... Until the heralds, acting at the direction of Zeus, call a draw: the action ends without a winner and with the two combatants exchanging gifts, Ajax giving Hector a purple sash and Hector giving Ajax a sharp sword. (from Wikipedia) The second fight between Ajax and Hector occurs when the latter breaks into the Mycenaean camp, and fights with the Greeks among the ships. In Book 14, Ajax throws a giant rock at Hector which almost kills him. In Book 15, Hector is restored to his strength by Apollo and returns to attack the ships. Ajax, wielding an enormous spear as a weapon and leaping from ship to ship, holds off the Trojan armies virtually single-handedly. In Book 16, Hector and Ajax duel once again. Hector is set on burning the ships, the only way he feels the Greeks will truly be defeated. Hector is able to disarm Ajax (although Ajax is not hurt) and Ajax is forced to retreat, seeing that Zeus is clearly favoring Hector. Hector and the Trojans succeed in burning one Greek ship, the culmination of an assault that almost finishes the war. Ajax is responsible for the death of many Trojans lords, including Phorcys. Ajax often fought in tandem with his brother Teucer, known for his skill with the bow. Ajax would wield his magnificent shield, as Teucer stood behind picking off enemy Trojans. It's later, after a dispute for Achille's magical armor with Odysseus, that Ajax suicides himself (after Athena influences Agamemnon to award Achille's gear to Odysseus).
HawkFest RoG You're an idiot. Both of them were mortals. Them being "demigods" was just a myth because of how great warriors they were. However Achillies was far superior to Ajax in combat skills, therefore he could have been killed by Hector.
Lewis Nostredame I think you are confused with his understanding of this. Hawkfest probably thinks this whole story and all these characters are a myth or a fantasy - like Lord of the Rings. None of those characters - Gandalf, Frodo, Bilbo, Sauron, etc, were real. So what he's saying doesnt make him an idiot who believes that achilles and Ajax were real people who were actually immortal. I'm sure nobody is dumb enough to think that. This was just some illiad written by someone and these characters were part of it, and in this fantasy story, Ajax and Achilles were both immortal, just like in lotr, Gandalf was some kind of demigod sent from some place in the heavens to guide the people of middle earth.
Lewis Nostredame , if someone has to be an idiot it would be you : this Illiad story is not «historical facts», it's a mythical romance by itself, including Achilles, Hercules, Ajax, Odysseus and such! Who made you believe that any of this Iliad story really happened? Do you know anything about Homer? FYI he was like the Tolkien of his era (who's story was then expanded by other authors so that it spans over 3-4 era).
HawkFest RoG You're contradicting yourself completely. First you assurred that Ajax could not have been killed by Hector. Now you're assuming that not of them could've even existed. Besides that, you now change the subject to other warriors. You're an idiot.
I like how the heroes are depicted in a somewhat realistic manner. Ajax, Hector of Troy, Achilles... They are humans, no magic bullshit, but they are just superior in some aspects, that could make people talk of them in such a manner that they become legend with time. Ajax is just a huge dude, I am pretty sure monsters of men like that did bring terror to battefields back then. Hector is just a strong, technical and courageous man with a lot of experience. Achille is a little OP, but maybe he could have been the mike tyson of his age. Someone who is just good at what he is doing. You see that a lot in warfare and fighting sports. Every man can fight and learn how to fight, but some people just have it in their blood
You didn't mention that Achilles had the heart of gods, how could he fought and killed hector at the wall, he single-handedly brought more fear to the Troyan much more than the whole greece Army. This man is a beastly inhuman personalty, even his king was afraid of him
@@shepherdolumideowoh7920 I think you missed the original point. The movie goes for a more "human" depiction of the heroes, instead of the more mythological version we are accustomed to.
You can compare this movie to the graphic novel/film 300. That treated history (the battle of Thermopylae) as though it were myth. The movie Troy treats myth as though it were history.
Just so you know, in reality no one ever killed Ajax. He had a dual with Hector during the war for a long time but it was a drew. They couldn't hurt each other. Ajax went mad toward the end of the war and fell on his own spear. Either suicide or just a moment of madness. War can make men mad. It was a 10 year war. (Imagine having PTSD after 1 year and keep fighting for another 9 with it). It was a long time after they lost Achilles. He never made it back to Greece. He was older than Achilles by a couple of years, trained with him at childhood, and received the same education. It was just Ajax and Achilles. No other kids were there. They were taught by the same man. Forgot his name. Ajax was a giant. Even as a kid, he was bigger than anyone else. He was born to the world he lived in, and tried his best to be the best version of himself. May he rest in peace.
@@mohamedmusthafa4359 That's one opinion. I personally doubt that those names echo through generations for thousands of years just because they're stories. Many unwritten stories were told over time throughout the existence of mankind. None of them are still here, still echoing so strongly in our souls like the stories of the Trojan war and Leonidas and the 300. I believe them to be real events. The magnitude of the events is the speculative part in my opinion.
@@Natures_Symmetry However, it counts that the myth has been transmitted and then modified orally for centuries and even when it was transcribed it was modified even later in favor of the Achaeans in particular, personally to me the myth I don't like it so much I find it too biased in favor of the Achaeans who have the strongest, fairest, most noble heroes ... So do you believe a talking snake tempted a woman to eat a cursed fruit too? Or that Gilgamesh went on epic adventures and played around with gods? They’ve been echoed for thousands of years.
Achilles was a demigod who took his craft very seriously, though he was literally *given* all of his skills. Hector was a true hero. Hector got it out of the dirt.
@@lightningrain3114 You can't have best of the courage without a feelings which give it a powerful fuel to let it last more. How one can become great without a flaws or a sacrifice?
Achilles was also a true hero. Talent without skill is nothing - Achilles was gifted as an immortal, but he was also the greatest warrior of the Trojan War. Being immortal in Greek mythology did not inherently mean you were extremely strong. For most heroes such as Heracles, it was in fact the bloodline of the gods that gave them both immortality and strength. However, immortality did not inherently mean they were superior to the rest - Theseus, despite being immortal due to being the son of Poseidon, nonetheless had to make heavy efforts to even hold a candle to Heracles. And even then, he was so far away from ever being as great.

Even as a Greek you wouldnt want to be near Ajax, when he was mauling people with that enormous warhammer: Ajax wouldnt hold back if you got between his hammer and the next Trojan he would shatter.... he would ram that hammer straight through you anyway, if it ment he would hit the Trojan too...

The Gods cursed him because of his actions that caused outraged the Gods that they decided to make him a brand of household detergent. 😭😭

And he managed to do it in One fight, by taking out Hector, the best protector of the Trojans.
Lol Hector was the most skilled warrior. But Achiles have gods in his family, he have supernatural everything.

Hollywood:
The irony is that Achilles used this sword belt to tie Hector and drag him all the way back to the Greek camp after he killed him.

Well, I mean by our modern movie standards, it would be silly to do a fight in the manner that Homer (or whoever actually wrote the Iliad) presented it. Odyssey took the armor of Achilles, liar
What a man! Hector is a man of the mission. You see he fought until the end. Great victory!🎉
I was thinking the same thing
Sure you were
in a nutshell and without going crazy over grammar and details, after the second fight ajhax is disarmed yet unscathed and ajax makes it home, as does the armor of Achilles, which is put up as a prize for the victor of a tournament ajax loses, which afterward he goes crazy, slaughters a bunch of sheep and then falls on his sword and kills himself, he is considered to have had ptsd
You may be right but I regardless, I will now masturbate while wearing a pig mask.

Achilles is what men should be like. Hector is a weak man. The one writing this story is lame af

@DAVO CAMPBELL A lot of the details probably are. But mythology defines cultures. Multiple people wrote of Troy and the heroes in it and they believe they know where Troy was located now as well
@DAVO CAMPBELL 😂 the Prince comment made me chuckle
Cannot take his mind off of Criseyde.
toussaintf1
I think you have got it together quite well.
Although I guess Homer himself did say that after Achilles, Ajax was the mightiest fighting man ;)
toussaintf1 Don't forget Deiphobus! He wounded Diomedes in combat and returned with his shield...
Only Achilles as a fighter was above everyone.
toussaintf1 You forgot Memnon, who was on Achilles's level.
Green Lantern No one was on Achilles's level. Achilles's was almost at the same level as Hercules but without his strength and power.

I've always been a Hector fan, even back then. He was just sucked into all this shit. His stupid brother was the cause for all this, then he fought someone who looked like Achilles only to find out afterwards he was not but that only raised Achilles' anger.

Monkonmunky comparing Illias with LotR is not completely wrong but you should read Edda or Beowulf instead ;)
The lack of courage and brave of paris, is the courage of Hector
The movie Troy treats myth as though it were history.
ajax is my favourite character in the movie, he takes an arrow to the knee yet he still fights on!
Lmao
People have to play Skyrim to understand this...
DinoChook Productions You know ajax was actually not killed by hector in the books. he commited suicide whilest the greec army was winning.
Daniele Mora it's a popular game, and popular meme.
DinoChook Productions
I used to be a Greek Hero like you, once...
....then I took an arrow in the knee.
Ajax is such a badass in this movie. How he just snaps the spear when Hector stabs him. Like "I'm not finished with you just yet!"
The Braun Strowman of The Greeks!
@@waspinator5361 "Oh Hector... You should have realized... *I'M NOT FINISHED WITH YOU!!!!!!!!!!* "
And fucking beats hector with it. Like he was saying: BITCH ARE YOU KIDDING ME IM AJAX
He's 1000x GREATER in the actual story, he made Hector his bitch.
1:09 The face Hector makes as he falls.🥴
In reality these are all stories, nothing ever happened
Elena herself is described as a woman who deeply loved Menelaus, but on the other hand, the winners always write history ...
I think the name of the old name was Phoenix
So do you believe a talking snake tempted a woman to eat a cursed fruit too?
Or that Gilgamesh went on epic adventures and played around with gods?
They’ve been echoed for thousands of years.
Achilles was a demigod who took his craft very seriously, though he was literally *given* all of his skills.
Hector was a true hero.
Hector got it out of the dirt.
Good point mate
Hector was a coward
@@lightningrain3114 And you are repetitive. Plus, actually, he was not a coward. Ignorance is bliss!
I love how much space is sudenly around them :D
bcgroi lol honestly it happens like atleast twice in the movie everyone is in complete mayhem then all of a sudden there is a perfect circle of people watching.. like aren't you a tiny bit distracted by the certain death around you?
Everyone was dying to see that fight between them two and the fight between Achilles and Hector. They were ALL like fuck fighting each other for a minute, I wanna see this shit.
@starkiller871 That's a fair point. Coming within range of that hammer was practically suicide.
Turner9090 and nobody helped him but cheers at the end 😅
Dude... if you were a solider in that battle... you'd want to be FAR away from that monster of an Ajax, who was manhandling one solder after the other, crushing shields, armor, skulls...anything Trojan... Knocked out a HORSE with his shield.
Even a brave greek warrior would nót want to fight Hector 1 on 1 either, as Hector was a very skilled warrior too!
Hector - dying for his idealism. This makes him great..
But pretty childish. That sounds like a fry server ethos
Imagine when you've trained for all those years and Ajax/Hector kills you in a second
With a big hammer no less.
Imagine training all those years just just to be killed by snipers trained to always shoot the neck
HTF are they going to imagine anything. Their dead.
I’m so impressed at the eyesight of the spectators. It’s like they could see exactly what we saw
I like how the Trojans shields are reminiscent of the future Romans shields as according to roman legend they descended from Prince Aeneas and survivors from Troy :D. They even mentioned it at the end of the film as well
Castlerea 12 Let me tell you that Romans kind of stole some elements from the Greeks just saying .
they're not

love Hector's fear and bravery in this scene
you know someone's tough when after you stab them they break the weapon handle off and beat the shit out of you with it
And for that solely reason, he deserved to rip Hector's head off, fucking sissy pathetic trojan.
Ajax is a beast.
Kyle Bossman Was* ahah
Ajax is the HULK.
In the illiad the gods saved Hector from Ajax.
PSV Eindhoven : Am I joke to you
Love when Ajax gets pierced by the spear but breaks it in half and starts beating the sh*t out Hector with the stick xd
The way Andromache looks at 2:05 shows how much she loves and genuinely cheers for hector. That kind of relationship chemistry is rare. Every man wants his woman to look at him that way
I was so pissed when Ajax died in this movie.
In The Illiad, Ajax doesn't die. Hollywood really butchered Homer's epic. Paris also does not escape, and Hellen is brought back to Sparta.
Hollywood and their dumb nonsense...
FOLKFIDDLER14
& we must always trust what is written in a book right?
The Trojans were defeated & then scattered. I keep on hearing over & over again in various parts of the internet that they became the Etruscan aka THE ROMANS.
Michael Groesbeck The Illiad was an epic poem written years after the fact but if Hollywood is going to do a movie based on the work, it should remain true to it. Mr. Groesbeck, I get the feeling that you are one of those people who is just a chronic arguer and likes to be contrary.
***** It lasted 10 years and Agamemnon was assasinated when he got home after the war.
This is Robert vs Rhaegar with the opposite ending
That's what I thought.. Had to look through the comments to see if anyone commented before I ..Ajax is totally a young Robert..even the weapon of choice..size... beard..Hector though go lucky. Had that shield not been there or the spear or the sword..he wouldve lost..love the comparison though..that why I like got.. A mix of many mythology's

They even have the same plot. Didn't both wars started because a prince stole some booty?
+ferleal24..I love that Odysseus is Sean bean..and idk his name but jeor mormont is a advisor on Troy's side..there are alot of actors in this that are or were big in thrones ...that's what i miss in thrones is a character that could be a Achilles types character..so far there are none...also...I'd love to see some Conan the barbarian story thrown in(Arnold version)...also there has only been 1 asain person on the show and there is indeed a imperial china like race east coast of essos ...you know there is some hitori hanzo level katana blades and another mythology to add to the list

Hector vs ajax is best fight from entire movie
No! Hector vs Ahilles best fight👍

My favorite instant was when Hector blocked Ajax' attack on one of the Trojan soldiers.

Nico Flashback Those are the gods having fun at the expense of mortals and filming this for the ages to have the chance of reminiscing.
Hector was unbeatable when fighting for the right circumstances. But when he defended his brother, his honor went out the window 😢😢😢
Гектор - самый достойный персонаж этого фильма!! В кинотеатре "Троя" вообще круто смотрится! Особенно премьера.
Achilles may be the greatest warrior in the Trojan War but Hector had everybody's respect for his honor, loyalty and courage to fight overwhelming odds
Hector: *thrust spear into Ajax* yassss
Ajax: *breaks spear and presumes to beat hector with it*
Hector: ok time out.
Ajax was a frikking Dreadnought on that battlefield! He just wreacked havoc! Hector bárely defeated him as Ajax was just só incredibly powerful! Un-intimidable, unmatched!
Yet he took him down!
except Hector never killed Ajax
Look at Hector man, so inspirational.
