The Puritans in Massachusetts held so strongly to their state religion, that when discord arose, the dissident was expelled and went on to found the Rhode Island colony, which was the first colony to not have a state religion and be founded upon the idea of religious tolerance. Also theocracies are states governed by the church, not states that have a state religion.
The idea that the founding generation of America would recognise or even tolerate modern attitudes towards religion is laughable. They would consider almost the entirety of the country as heathens undeserving of republican governance or religious tolerance

I wish IG bonuses were linearized instead of bracketed. It seems super gimmicky that we are optimizing influence modifiers to make as many of them happy and just barely reach a 20% threshold.
While I agree with this to some respect I think that it's interesting and good that you're rewarded for having a balanced political system, the benefit of having one or two immensely powerful IGs is political stability.
on the topic of ideology switching at around 30:30 thats already available to do via mods, however its in the base game too as of 1.8. The victorian century mod does that to several IG's in 1.7, and im sure there are others.
Modding capabilities to change IG ideologies and bonuses during political movements is huge. This will make major political movements like abolition, womens' suffrage, and prohibition so much more interactive and impactful (more research will need to be done on what the other countries were doing in this time period). Hopefully the ability to change the Ideological Union PB to be able to affect subjects IGs as well, which would be so awesome for RP and balancing a weak mechanic that should have huge high points in player experience.
The change from north begal south bengal division to west and east bengal region makes more sense and more historically accurate. In fact that division even led to at leas 1 revolt in the raj, and the division continues to this day. Bengal will probably be the most densely populated state in game (possibly more than beijing), though not as rich in mineral resources.
the cartridge thing was part of the leadup to the indian uprising, the rifle cartridges contined tallow which you had to bite through with your teeth. Considering muslims consider pork unclean and hindus consider cows sacred both types of tallow were taboo especially for the mouth. It contributed a lot to unrest and insubordination within the sepoys (local indian troops).
