- Here's a true Oswald the Lucky Rabbit rarity for Cartoons On Film's friends and followers!

Known as one of the "Winkler Oswalds," this post-Disney Oswald cartoon was released in March of 1929. It was produced and released as a sound cartoon, though the soundtrack is currently unavailable for sharing here. Complementary music track compiled by, and thanks to David Gerstein.
The low resolution sampler you're seeing, shared exclusively on this UA-cam channel, is derived from an early 1930s Universal "Show at Home" print. The 'Show at Home' line was Universal Pictures' short-lived attempt at offering and selling 16mm prints of their production backlog, for nontheatrical projection. 16mm print and reference copy courtesy of the Stathes Collection.
For nearly 20 years, the Cartoons On Film team has been locating and reuniting rare 16mm and 35mm prints of all imaginable silent era animated cartons. We've also been collecting hi res scans of physical prints residing in other collections. Cartoons On Film's long term plan has always been to restore and rerelease most, if not all of its holdings, in newly restored form over the coming years. There are many such projects currently afoot. The recent UA-cam uploads on this channel are meant to be enjoyed in anticipation of proper restorations, while will gradually be made available to the public in the future.

You can tell Walt's team worked on this short even if he himself did not. It has that '27-'28 Oswald energy and spunk that only Walt's team could pull off.

Oswald The Lucky Rabbit “Nuts And Jolts” is at the cartoon carnival and might come out soon like “Hold Em’ Ozzie”. And “The Suicidę Sheik” Is on a live countdown on UA-cam for January 1st 2025.

wait wasnt this lost. Sorry when it came to the 1930s animation community thing i metaphorically shut my brain off,so what in the world happened
So, these shorts are only released once (barring private showings) so after the initial release it was shelved. Recently, more and more "Oswald" shorts have been found, whether it be someone mistaking it for a "Mickey Mouse" short or kept in Library of Congress. This was the first "Oswald" short done at Winkler that had been found in almost 15 years
1928 films become public domain in a few months (January 1, 2024) so anyone will soon be able to request a copy of any 1928 Oswald titles that the Library of Congress holds as long as they pay their fees. @@kharyeperkins195
I don’t think it was ever lost. Every short of Oswald made by Charles Mintz in 1928 was lost except the 3rd one. Fiery fireman
