WASTE OF FOOD?! They build a mountain of food then distribute it to the people to eat. Honestly I don't see any waste. On the contrary there are other religions which makes food offerings to their God then throw it away!!!
Most religions that offer food to their god(s) will partake in it. My only experience of this is in Wicca traditionally the whole circle partakes in the cakes and ale then offers some as a libation to the god and goddess which is then left in nature to go back to the god and goddess and nourish the land in a metaphorical sense
Interesting direction for the channel, yes keeping up with the focus of food but with the undertone of a religious event. There are times were Kiran was being a smartass, but otherwise she shared both events pretty well.

@@shitfromkiran I get that you were trying to keep things light-hearted, but it really rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. A bit more background and demonstrating that you did the research on the festival and Vaishnavism/Krishna Bhakti would have gone a long long way. People expect a certain degree of respect when you do (inter)faith work, and I think most people didn't get that from how the video was edited. I got a lot more of that sense of respect when I watched some of your other videos, about Orthodox Judaism for example. I know you had the best intention of doing a show that examined how Hindus celebrate Krishna Govardhan Puja but I also see where a lot of the critical comments are coming from. Good luck on your next go around, I think on the whole you do great work!
In Hinduism god has a three manifestations, nature creates itself, nature destroys itself, and nature preserve it self. That is basically the concept of Hinduism, Bramha, Visnu or maheheswara, or Lord Bramha, Lord Krisna, or Lord Shiva. Or any manifestation is essentially the same god.
The worst part of Munchies is the flood of racist, close minded, and anti religious comments that so many people feel so moved to write. In a world that supposedly preaches "be yourself", it's sad to see people still throw stones at ones who celebrate what they peacefully believe.
This video is interesting, and I commend Kiran's effort. But she isn't very knowledgeable about Hindu culture. My guess is that she comes from a Sikh Punjabi background. This is what I admire about the host, Gelareh Kaizand of the Iran episode of Munchies. She is culturally aware of all things Iran.
Jedi Master Not true, they just have a belief that all men and women are equal and renounce caste altogether. However many Hindus still look at Sikhs within the scope of a particular caste. Which fundamentally challenges and disrespects the basis of Sikhism.

The Hare Krishna movement is 1000% Hinduism. Not a different religion at all, since Hinduism has loads of different ways of practicing and different variations of belief. It's not an orthodoxy. Just because white people are involved doesn't make it any less Hindu. The ideas and doctrine of Hare Krishna come from the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition which was begun in West Bengal. There are lots of Gaudiya Vaishnavas in India who are ISCKON members and a bunch who are not. It's just a different church/temple/movement with the Vaishnava tradition.
