I'm 2 mo. Post partum. While I was pregnant I was able to get into my prepregnancy clothes until about 30 weeks. I just used a belly band for my pants. I'm a tall gal so most of my shirts are pretty long anyways. Now most of my stuff fits again. Don't throw any of it away! You may surprise yourself! And invest in some awesome maternity leggings and tanks. I still wear them even though I'm not pregnant and they actually don't look bad!!!

Yes!!! Soooo much congestion right now. I’m 32 weeks prego and have been battling a cold for a month now. And as for clothes, I bought a few staples...some maternity tees, jeans and a pair of shorts since I was pregnant thru the hot Texas summer. But mostly I live in leggings, I dress them up or down as needed.

I placed all of my pre pregnancy work wear on one side of my closet, and then made a small section for my maternity work wardrobe (a few dresses and pants). I also placed a bunch of folded items into my suitcase to be organized after baby gets here. And then used two of my drawers to store maternity tops and bottoms.

Love it! I'm currently 28 weeks pregnant with a sweet baby girl and just last week I separated out my clothes as well. I live in Guatemala so I don't have drastic seasonal changes and I've been able to get away with maternity leggings and lots of tunic tops I had pre-pregnancy, but I did splurge on three pairs of maternity jeans since I wear jeans daily for work and just a hand full of maternity tops. It definitely is easier to get ready in the mornings having everything separated now :)

Love it! This is my third pregnancy in 4 years so I'm kind of an expert at maternity wear at this point and flipping your wardrobe back and forth. I do the same with putting things away in bins, as I know things won't fit me or seasons change I lay them off to the side and pack them away as I get enough items. I do a mixture of swapping out all of my pants, bathing suits and most of my dresses for maternity... then for shirts I kind of add in my maternity stuff and then pack away non maternity shirts as they get too small. Same for some of my dresses. I have also got rid of a lot of maternity clothes as I realized what I like to wear while pregnant. Sadly I also tend to out grow some of my maternity pants towards the end. I have 3 more weeks to go, I hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy!

Yes, make more.pregnancy videos! With my second pregnancy, (I had a baby in July) I vowed that I would not buy anything maternity, I had saved my bras but donated everything else since I thought I was done with having babies. Grace and lace has the best tank tops that are long, so my uniform was a cardigan or blazer, long tank top and leggings. You can actually make this look as fancy or as casual as you want! The only maternity thing I bought was some maternity Spanx for under a dress I wore a day before I gave birth to our friend's wedding. I love that we are going to be seeing you through this baby stuff!!!

Just a few weeks ago we moved, and it was a good time because my bump has shown up to purge. I purged my closet, got rid of anything that wasn't going to work during pregnant, or don't absolutely love it or need it, then it left. I then could see what gaps I had fo during maternity and postpartum. I've been filling those gaps with pieces that can fit both during pregnancy and are nursing friendly. So far it has worked well.

When I was preggo, I didn't really have many clothes to work with, but I had enough nice clothes for my job and relaxing at home. I was able to find some cute maternity pants and a long maternity cami that I still use to this day and its super comfortable. Plus it has a built in bra. no need to feel like ur hangin loose, it feels like a sports bra but offers more support too!

Nice closet clean out! When I was pregnant I used my regular wardrobe until I couldn't do it anymore... I was around 6 months preggo so I went to shop at target and Old navy for maternity pants and tops. Then summer came and I bought some maxi dresses that I new I was going to wear after I had my daughter.

At first I tried to make my regular clothing work, and certain items have made their way through the whole pregnancy - but I invested in a few basic maternity items such as jeans, tanks, and tees to give me a solid base to work from. I also found a "uniform" that just works for me, which is maternity jeans (or leggings), a maternity tee or tank, and a long cardigan. At 35 weeks (and with the cooler weather) I barely deviate from this at all, but earlier on I would still mix it up a bit with a dress here and there.
Also, since I started to show during the summer and we had a LOT of events/weddings to attend, I bought a couple cute dresses from Pink Blush online and definitely don't regret that! Some non-maternity staples that I have worn a lot are my Lululemon Wunder Under High Rise leggings (they don't roll down with the bump, and they are comfortable either over the bump or folded/pushed under the bump - stick with your regular size if you have some already... I bought a size up so I could have a second pair and they actually slide around a little too much, even at 35 weeks!), loose cotton dresses from the Gap, and long cardigans.

try a netti pot for your congestion. i lived in yoga pants, slip on shoes, and oversized hoodies, with the extra long maternity tank top from target, for both of my pregnancies,. there's not reason to overspend. esp if your going to pregnant during the winter, its too cold to be super cute.

You’re not alone, I got 3 colds, 1 flu and had a sore throat separately from those for 6 weeks while pregnant. It was tough for me because I rarely catch colds. My midwife was like, yup that’s normal for some.
I definitely bought as few pregnancy clothes as possible and re-wore them often theorizing that I would be able to toss them after I used them this round and would buy more next time. So far so good. I have a small wardrobe anyway so I just slid all my old clothes to the back of my closet and all the loose t shirts I liked to wear and cardigans stayed with my maternity clothes.

  • @matejamocnik9368

You look great :) I bought 1 pair of maternity jeans (for fancier outings), a few leggings and I got a poncho made for the winter. Everything else was just making my clothes work (I wore worm tunics and was ok). My due date was in February and I didn't need any super fancy clothes for my work (I was a nanny) so I made it work with just a few extra items. None of the winter coats for pregnant women got me excited so I asked my friend's mother to sew me a winter poncho. It worked out great :)

I’m 25 weeks, and so far I’ve gotten by with buying a stretchy top pair of maternity jeans, cardigans, and stretchy target/old navy t-shirts. I borrowed 4 maternity dresses from a post-partum friend for formal events, which I wear with tights or leggings. Only problem is none of my coats button shut! It’s going to be a chilly winter.

When i was pregnant I got about 2 maternity undershirts and wore them under some of my larger t shirts or i would wear a short stretchy dress as a shirt. I also needed up wearing a lot of my boyfriends shirts too. and for pants i mainly stuck to yoga pants. I didn't want to spend a ton of money buying maternity clothes so i just wore baggy comfy stuff, no one judges you for that when your pregnant. :)

I got very lucky when I was pregnant. I worked overnights as a group home caregiver, so I wore leggings and baggy sweaters for the first three months. Stuff like gym shorts and baggy t shirts were 100% dress code acceptable, so once summer hit I wore lots of that. Most of my regular sun dresses became maternity tops, and I bought a couple pairs of maternity shorts and one pair of jeans to wear on days off. Spent less than $50 on maternity clothes at my local Ross.

I had 6 babies. A few good maternity/nursing tanks are great! Plus some maternity tees are super helpful. Bulky sweaters are good before your belly gets too big. Maternity jeans are a must. They are just more comfy. Leggings work great too. Don't get a new wardrobe!! It's not worth it.

Pregnancy rhinitis is super common and will go away after you deliver. Also - before I got pregnant the first time, I read somewhere that if you've purchased trendy clothes before, you know that those last about a season before you donate them, so why wouldn't you buy some cute maternity clothes for 9 (or more) months of wear? I used that as my mantra - I've gotten rid of things more quickly than this - and bought a few great staples that took me through to both pregnancies. For me, it was really great jeans and a wrap dress that made me look stylish that were the standouts.

I kept my stretchy legging/yoga pants through the early part of my pregnancy. But I had to switch to maternity jeans for weekend wear when I got too big. Bulky sweaters were also great with longer tank tops. I managed to fit back into my regular clothes soon after my babies were here. I did the same like you... putting away my regular clothes while they did not fit. I am glad I did that. Did not have to buy new clothes afterwards. I was also wearing nursing bras towards the last trimester.

I found that most of my lose fitting shirts would carry me through my first pregnancy, I only bought maternity leggings which I wore to work and pretty much all the time. I also wore a lot of sweats and harem style bottoms that had really comfy elastic waists that worked all through pregnancy. At the very end I lived in my husbands clothes!! Now I'm over halfway through my second pregnancy and am just wearing the same type of stuff. I've bought some comfy dresses in a size up from what I normally wear and they work great, they're also items I know I'll use a lot post partum. Same with some new maternity leggings, seriously they save my life! Never bought any maternity tops at all.

I did the same thing when I was about 4 months pregnant with my twins. I went through and got out all of the clothes I couldn't wear then and all of the clothes I was sure I wouldn't be able to wear for a while if ever again. I bagged them up and put them in my attic. After having my twins and having no time to eat I was immediately 15 lighter than what I was before I got pregnant with them so I got down those bags of clothes in the attic and literally went shopping in my own clothes and could wear so much more stuff than I thought I would have been able to. Put it all up, but don't get rid of it. Your body will change after a baby but maybe not exactly how you expect :)

I was SO congested during pregnancy. Girl, NeilMed Sinus Rinse! One of the nurses at my obgyn's office recommended it, I was hesitant to try it at first, it seemed weird. I didn't want to take any medicine for a stuffy nose, especially while pregnant, and the sinus rinse was perfect. It was the only thing that helped.... Rest assured you'll clear up the moment she's born.

Yes I was soooo congested while pregnant. 😩 all the extra blood pumping and enlarged blood vessels messes with your sinuses. Also being pregnant makes you more susceptible to sinus infections. I got one, it was awful. I ended up being some sort of congested/coughing/runny nose for 14 weeks. Yep. 14. I def recommend daily sinus rinse, use a cool humidifier at night, and don't be afraid to ask your doc for a z-pack!

I moved all my clothes I knew wouldn't fit into a spare bedroom closet. I buy a few basics. Short sleeves that I can put cardigans or sweaters over. You get hot easily when pregnant. Also buy a few tanks that you can wear under shirts. I bought two pairs of jeans and the leggings and two pairs of shorts. I also bought two nieces dresses for events (wedding, BBQ and holiday parties). I liked having a limited closet. Helped me find things I know will fit and I don't have to spend 30 mins trying to find something that fits.

Thats smart to get everything out of sight so yiu dont even have to wonder if aomething will work when you're trying to get dressed. And oh my gosh yes on the congestion!! I didn't know before getting pregnant but apparently it's actually a fairly common symptom. I had a stuffed/runny nose for almost my entire pregnancy. It got better at the end when it was summer and humid. If you don't already have a humidifier in your room for sleeping I totally recommend getting one to help you make it through winter with the dry air from heating. :)

I just gave birth a few days ago. Congratulations to you on your first! So, I did what you did, albeit not as nicely. I put away my winterish clothes and clothes I knew wouldn't fit my growing belly.
I also don't buy maternity clothes because I like a looser fit throughout the year anyway, so if I can still wear after baby, I will, if not, I'll store it (just in case I need it again). After I recover, I will pull out my stored clothes and reverse my system, with those bigger pregnancy items.
    Congrats again!

I LOVED the preggers clothes thing. I wore wild stretchy pants...animal prints, wild colors, black ...and would throw, possibly always, a shirt of my husband's, over it. At the time (80's), there was a designer who came out with simply-made clothes made of stretchy knit, so it was perfect. I love seeing a pregnant woman's baby bump.... I think it's beautiful and it should be shown off! But I also saw it so I could whip up a top with just two pieces maybe four if I had to put sleeves on it because I was pregnant during the summer.

I aslo removed all of my bras (not confortable enough during my pregnancy) a few p.j. and working out outfit. I put my clothes in my cedar closet in the basement. I switched to maternity clothes when I could not fit my normal clothes because they are cut specifically to allow for the belly but still are flattering to rest of your body. Just wore normal underpants that were low cut and normal leggings in a bigger size (maternity ones kept falling down!). I mainly wore leggings with a maternity top and an elasticated skirt or a dress over top. These clothes are also designed for post partum as it can take a while for some people to fit back into their regular clothes. If someone ever wants to have more children they can get a second use. Mine wore out after two pregnancies. I kept a plastic storage bin in my closet and every time I realised an item of clothing did not fit I added it straight away.

I was planning on having 3 kids back to back(and I did 5.5, 4 and 2.5) so I tried to get good quality maternity cloths that would last all 3 pregnancies and everything but 1 pair of dress pants did :)

Yes! Always super congested during pregnancy and there's not much you can take. I take mucinex or sudafed and use a nasal strip at night.

For my two pregnancies by the time i was 5-6 months it was already winter so all the sweaters stretched well but not tight and for all the jackets that wouldnt zip up i used a scarf to wrap around my neck and chest ,, i only bought two items and one pregnancy jeans so huge money saved indeed for the babies stuff

I wore non-maternity with all my three kiddos even though I took a ton of weight. I just bought few bigger and belly-friendly pieces. Around 5th-6th month I just put away everything that didn't fit, it was so much easier to get dresses if I didn't have to dig through all the clothes that didn't fit me.

I know this is an old vid, but I picked up a few tanks, a few nice maternity button-ups, and had my few maternity jeans and yoga pants. Thankfully, a lot of my clothes still fit throughout my pregnancy, and I kept everything with the hopes of fitting back into it at some point. I did fit back into 90% of my clothes soon after, and I didn't feel too wasteful getting rid of my maternity clothes because I didn't buy too much, nearly everything was from thrift stores, and I actually still wear some items even 2 years later (nursing camis are SO comfy lol). The items I did get rid of are largely because my Mom Bod is just not the same as my confident, pre-pregnancy self 🤣🤣

Ive never been pregnant but I'm a black/white/grey dresser by nature 😄 I think if I were I'd wear a lot of tights, get a pair of good maternity jeans (maybe 2 one in a darker colour one in a lighter shade), a dress that can be worn out and maybe go for existing tops that fit as much as possible. There's so many cute maternity clothes out there but you can't wear them season after season.

I bought a few shirts and dresses and wore loose fitting skirts. I didnt have a huge maternity wardrobe. I mostly worked around what I already owned.

Leggings and longer/larger tops than I normally wore saw me through with a couple of pinafore dresses that could be layered underneath. I think Melissa it will be really interesting to see how you approach the 'nesting' period in the last two months where you normally get the urge to clean everything and reorganise everything prior to baby's arrival (even if you hate cleaning normally )because it is your profession and you do it so well !

Many of my friends used their everyday clothing the most they could. They purchased a Belly band in different colors, which they found at Target and long shirts that they were able to use after pregnancy. And when it came to their jeans/pants, They snipped the sides and inserted a piece of elastic.

I'm too short for the big babies I have so my reg clothing would have gotten stretched out and I think most would have been to short anyways...i was able to use a few pieces but not many...i ended up being able to find about 60% of my clothing at a consignment sale though which helped on cost... but my son turned 3 in Sept and we are on #3 due in Jan and my body is all sorts of out of whack so i keep my prego shorts out but I was still able to fit into my jeans within 6 weeks after my son and daughter... fingers crossed for the 3rd! In love with seeing your progress with the baby bump!

I knew i wasnt planning on having another baby right away so i tried to make my clothes work as long as possible, and only bought a few (like 5?) maternity shirts and jeans (3). As soon as my son was born i was able to fit all my old clothes right away. (I got lucky). Not long after a friend of mine got pregnant so i gave her all my maternity clothes. I live in vancouver so i have an “all season” wardrobe. I was also lucky my last trimester was during fall so i got away with t-shirt/jeans and jackets.

I did a little bit of both. I also did a lot of basic colors too. I was lucky enough to be pregnant in the fall and winter with our first two so I was able to get twice the wear out of my maternity stuff. I hardly bought new alway thrifted or borrowed from friends.

Hi Melissa. I did not get congested through my pregnancies but everyone else I know did. And most of them were congested the entire time of pregnancy. There are some meds you can take but check with your OB doctor first. P.S. you look beautiful pregnant 😊😊😊

Yes, I was often congested and it is quite common during pregnancy, as well as being short of breath.

I thrifted lots of maternity clothes, I knew it would only be worn for a short time and did not want to spend lots of money, I always ensured that the clothing was in good condition

I stored my regular clothes just like I would my seasonal clothes. I just went up a size and then eventually 2 in normal clothes so I didn't have to pay an arm and a leg for maternity items, but did spend more on maybe 5 true maternity tanks and jeans for work. Plus I can wear them next time I'm prego ( I have two kiddos and that just seemed to work the best for me)

  • @weenibean00
    @weenibean00 7 років тому +1

I stored my pre preggo clothes in tubes too. I made the mistake of cleaning the tubes out too soon after baby was born. After some time, I lost a lot of the baby weight and could have worn a lot of the clothes I ended up throwing out! Give yourself plenty of time to get back into "the norm"

I taught school while pregnant. So outfits were the same five or six outfits for my biggest 5 months. I sewed some tops. And cut open jeans and sewed in stretch panels. Get lots of rest.

You're so cute! I'm currently 7 weeks along. Rainbow baby... It's hard to remember not to lift anything heavy. LOL. I use to go to the gym regularly and weight lift. I'm lifting a LOT lighter now. My poor husband has had to pick up my slack. Love your videos!

What suprised me was that not only is there a phase with pregnancy close, where you have to reconsider your closet. There is also the breastfeeding-close-phase. (That is if you choose to breastfeed of course). Completely different from the pregnancy-close-phase. However long tops work well in both phases. Especially those with buttons :-) Love from Denmark.
