Excellent video! Any signals? Love your camcorder mounted on the train, best! What a neat layout, especially the track switches in pavement and light shinning on rails. Did they ever move cars with engine in middle? Or was there always a person on the leading end? Thank you. Bravo!
Great job and thanks for posting. I was so happy to see this industrial switcher at work. Who makes it? Who's sound is it? Is the sound system on board the loco?.
Great layout! Just make sure to put wire or thread on the telephone poles- it's detail is a lot more than what most people think. Oh, by the way- great little switcher you got there! Make more videos- I absolutely love the layout's detail and those "smooth as silk" locomotives!
The street scene is phenomenal. The street looks very realistic and nicely faded. What material and colors did you use to make your streets? I'm cureently building a layout and am reading up on options.
Thats so cool :) been looking at the 3rd Street District for my shelf layout plan and your great vid has shown me what can be done with it :) nice work
love the city tracks i wanted to make something just like this but now i have to settle for just one track down main street and one down a back road to another factory ....you did an awesome job on this ..
09:35 This is evidently the GE-R2D2 model. Very nice work here, the modeled ambiance captures the busy-randomness-amidst-logical-coherence of the real thing. Cheers.
DCC will make running your train much more fun. There are many advantages to using DCC. You can control Lights and even control very precise speeds. With out DCC Model Railroading will become a drag and you will get tied if it right a way.
Nice "cab ride" shots! You have an excellent layout! 2:30, how did the coupler move like that? The street running part is very interesting. DCC and sound? Thanx fur sharin'! 5 thumbs up!
Was the "weathering" effect on the roads the rail lines travel through deliberate? Real tarmac and rail roads do this, but I personally have found a lazy way to make a road surface with rails in it look new; use plaster filler, and spread it over the rails for the tarmac. keep working the spatula until the rails just show through the surface. When it's half set, use a toothpick to gouge out the grooves for the wheels to travel in. When set, sand and paint to suit. Switch points need more work.
Thank you, I will try to find the article at the library. Not sure if they will have this article. Is it available on line somewhere? I think that you did a great job and I would love to have a layout like this. I will be building idustrial / urban layout in the near future. Have a great day. Please post more industrial movements.
STUPID QUESTION OF THE DAY/WEEK: Is there any process that decides which "Freight Car, Flat Car, Box Car is placed in a regular full operating train? In other words which "BOXCAR" gets to go behind the engine first, then second, third, etc? Not on a scale model RR but an actual RR line.
One bad move, I would have set out the Lion Milk Boxcar before I pulled the two red hoppers, you wouldn't have to protect both ends of the train to make the same move.
LOL i love it, fantastic, i love you you put r2 d2 into the whistle , great layout, i think ive seen part of this track plan, in 28 top nothc tracks plans, kalmbach
@rangeclerk depending on the destination and any stops along the way , the train will keep it,s first setoffs near the head end ,then places it,s lifts at the tail end ,but there's many variables depending on the switch list .
@cparl66 Thank You for the "Heads Up" and understand! Amazing how this Nation let its RR sys go to hell in a handbasket. Remember my mom & I taking the train from Montana to S Calif in the summer of 1960 (9 yrs age). My Granddad (dad) worked for Great Northen--contacted them; they informed me that when the "merged" required to destroy all the employee records before the merge..
Beautifully done. Trackwork and scenery is impressive. Main line looks like Code 83, with the sidings/yard trackage Code 70? BTW: Are you a member of the Kalmbach Model Railroader Forum? If not, please join! Good group of modelers onboard that would enjoy reading about your layout and seeing photos of your layout work.
Saddening that this wonderful modeler has passed on. Glad to see that this his videos are still on UA-cam. God rest his him in peace.
Beautiful layout, and you've provided me with plenty of inspiration for my own model railroad project. Thank you.
What kind of camera do you use for the Cab Ride? That is nice HD quality.
Excellent video!
Any signals?
Love your camcorder mounted on the train, best!
What a neat layout, especially the track switches in pavement and light shinning on rails.
Did they ever move cars with engine in middle?
Or was there always a person on the leading end?
Thank you.
Bravo!
Nice Job. I saw your railroad photos in ModelRailroader Mag.

Thanks for the response. I do love the video and your layout. Great Job.
speachless...everything about this video is top-notch (i.e. the scenery, the trains, the train handling, the handling of the camera, etc.)!!!
That is a great layout!
Awesome layout! I saw it in Model Railroader. I like how you have street running.
5 star wow thx

Excellent detail and very smooth operation. Bravo !!!
only one word, perfect
BEAUTIFUL COLOR SCHEME!
The street scene is phenomenal. The street looks very realistic and nicely faded. What material and colors did you use to make your streets? I'm cureently building a layout and am reading up on options.
Very, very nice layout. Clear video--nice cab shots. Thank you for sharing!!
This layout is so awesome, to bad that you didn't use a HD cam for filming...
I miss your work Wolfgang, I still watch your videos over
Great job and details, you can realyy get into the operation

Thats so cool :) been looking at the 3rd Street District for my shelf layout plan and your great vid has shown me what can be done with it :) nice work
Awesome layout.
That street switching is the greatest. It really gives you a feel for how to traverse a section of rail to get to an industry.
Impressive layout, realism and camerawork!
love the city tracks i wanted to make something just like this but now i have to settle for just one track down main street and one down a back road to another factory ....you did an awesome job on this ..
Beautiful!!! Love urban switching. Tight spaces. Captured it perfectly. Hats off
09:35 This is evidently the GE-R2D2 model. Very nice work here, the modeled ambiance captures the busy-randomness-amidst-logical-coherence of the real thing. Cheers.
i guess the shorter one is the ge-3po
WOW the most amazing layout i have ever seen
Awesome!
That was a great touch!!! It really gives Henry some character!

nice job, i dont mean to be a stick in the mud, but i think it should go faster, and u got any tips for me layout? i will make a vid for u
its street running. they run track mainly through industrial areas where it is nessasary to get to a building/industry.
Thank you, I will try to find the article at the library. Not sure if they will have this article. Is it available on line somewhere? excellent
Still amazed that you managed to soundchip a 44-tonner and get a DW groundframe working.
Jon
It is either the warning bell on the engine when running streets or something loose in an empty head.
Excellent modeling work and operations!
I'm so jealous. What a cool layout. I'm so inspired to build one now but I doubt it will be as nice as yours.
Christopher Taylor Easy- just make your next project better than your last project and you will get there...in time. : )
is there like a automatic uncoupling track for HO scale like O gauge or do u have to manualy uncoulpe the cars?
Great videos,layout,scenery,and trains.mmmmmmmm
This layout is AMAZING!
very very nice layout. and a beautiful switcher too.
I have two Bachman 44 tonners I want to put sound in. What sound decoder will fit?

Really like that street running section
Nice video. I like how you bring life to the scenes with the people.
Sadly William , Wolfgang Dudler ,aka westportterminal passed away a little over a year ago. The modelrailroading community lost a truly talented man .
Yes we sure did. Sorry to hear of his passing. He was truly tallented
Should have blown the horn longer. Well that actually had an air whistle on it. But still, you just tapped it a few times.
Volfie loved his US little critters !
Excelent!!!!
Very impressive! Really nice.
its a 44 ton switcher not a formula 1 car!
THAT IS A SWITCHER! GO GE!

@Runkleforskin hey runk did u consider since this guy westpot can't or won't answer simple questions that maybe this isn't his layout at all???.
Hehe, that lil thing was featured in last months NMRA Scale Rails! Way to go man!
Yes--i heard it--guess he was driving the switcher--l-o-l
Beautifully done. Trackwork and scenery is impressive. Main line looks like Code 83, with the sidings/yard trackage Code 70? BTW: Are you a member of the Kalmbach Model Railroader Forum? Just found this. May he rest in peace. Beautiful
Best layout I ever saw, especially the rails on the street; any advice on how to create the track on road part?
@Runkleforskin People have lives, Dude. If he isn't replying, he's probably busy with real life.
I'm certain the guy moved when he threw the switch! Best looking model I every saw! Congrats!
Excellent job on the layout. I love the detail you included, and the street running is really neat.
The view from the cab is a very good touch and orignal!! Nice job!!
Beautiful Layout! Perfect looking switching. We're looking at a master's work here!
I adore that trailer on the flat. Great video.
But not as embarrassing as your comment!
I love the little "TOOT"!
did i heard R2-D2 at 9:36?
How on earth can the points still change?
