Love this just wish it had shown you how much love and community spirit there is in brinny. Watch how many lanterns you see (around 3 mins in after the especially made ones, on Hereford Rd) that all members of the community made their own THEMSELVES in Workshops in the community spaces. Residents of age, ethic and social groups from all walks of life all came together and everyone knows almost everyone, looks out for each other and the vast majority do have respect for each other but like the small few feet up from the start of the parade you get a few trying to cause a nuisance which is like everywhere. So so proud of our community spirit up here!! I would love to see a lot more activities & events like this one that gets the WHOLE estate involved including all the schools n the kids, the care homes - EVERYBODY. I know almost everyone would be happy to donate a few Bob each to pay for the materials n costs Would love to see a celebration like this after lockdown ends xx
Never a true said Michelle a community coming together like that makes you wish you kid again or maybe not. I didn't even no this was on UA-cam it just popped up on me so I had to look see if I can spot anyone I know I clocked my nephew adam playing the drums as there going into the park and his mum Debbie. Keep your lanterns shining and stay safe😊
I'm not sure Janine, but if I were a betting man I'd probably say a lack of funding. It's a shame though as it was wonderful to see the community come together like this.
Because of funding. It's very sad to see this great event coming to the end. I was involved with the lanterns for 16 years. Loved going to the school to make them with the young people so much, It was amazing to see them all light up on the night God bless you all xxx
