After all the madness and trends of the indie music in the 90s in England , with the passing of the years, you arrive at a couple of conclusions and one is that Blur and Radiohead were the most sophisticated , original and ahead of its time along bands
@@ragtimegals I would say Radiohead have become more timeless, contemporary, and renowned than Blur. It helps that they continue making music, unlike Blur.
I still find twats speeding their way to an insurance payout in parts of London. I used to live in Beckenham, and there's rich people with fancy cars going way over 30 every now and again.
I always hear this as Blur (and especially Damon) sending a love letter to David Bowie’s music, this song mirrors “Fashion” in so many ways, particularly Graham’s guitar solo.
Apparently, Graham wanted to title the song "Fripp" as the solo was his homage to King Crimson, but The Catherine Wheel already had a song with that title, so they retitled it London Loves.
Got into Blur 4 days ago and i gotta say I’m obsessed:Listened to the hits,Leisure,Modern Life is Rubbish and now I’m here on Parklife, almost at the end of the playlist.Damon never misses man.
Not many were playing this that I can remember. Definitely 'Girls and Boys' and 'Parklife' were regular. I do remember going to clubs and the whole of the Stone Roses album being played from back to front, one after another, but these tended to be in alternative clubs. Your mainline places were still playing dross.

Graham Coxon is amazing on this one. His guitar parts on "MLIR", "Parklife" & "TGE" remind me of Andy Summers' job in the Police; In that sense that all the stuff he contributed was simply perfectly suited for each song, perfect guitar craftsmanship always in a perfect amount to squeeze all the juices from Damon's songwriting capabilities
Close. I believe that the working title of the song was 'Fripp', and the solo is Graham Coxon's homage to the solo on 'Fashion'. Which is equally brilliant.
Damon and the whole band paint a picture of dystopian London of racing Cars with people disconnected with each other, a familiar theme for blur. The song Go Out on their last album The Magic Whip, has a similar sort of sense of hopeless alienation without being depression.
This one is heavy on the Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps) David Bowie tip. Didn’t they run into some copyright issues with M.O.R. lifting from “Boy’s Keep Swinging”? I’m going to assume that whatever came from it, they had a laugh and kept in touch, boys always work it out
I heard this song on the radio this week and thought it was their earlier stuff. Couldn't believe it was on Parklife as I don't remember it. This is now my favourite Blur song!
One of the truly Greatest British bands. And that's some pretty 'eavy company right. The way people just fall apart/ the way we just don't stand a chance....
i’m 42 and when i was 14 i was all about oasis , i luvd blur aswell but oasis had that swagger that a 14 yr old wants . now i come back to blur 50/1 sorry liam but we have to grow up
I'm not sure of the band name or exact song title but does anyone remember Dalek I Love You - The Story of Wild Bill? I had a cassette from 1982 called something like SFX. Anyway it has the exact same keyboard sound. Sorry for the lack of details but I'm getting old and the chemicals have taken their toll!!!
One of the best songs of Parklife. But come on, Parklife is perfect
Modern Life is Rubbish IS Perfection. X
charmlessnerd hmm
Yep
👍👍👍
parklife the greateat album ever!
Most underrated song of the album.
damon has got the most exquisite voice
Damn right how does he do that??
The snappy magic of Graham Coxon on this track - amazing
I know! What a beast!
After all the madness and trends of the indie music in the 90s in England , with the passing of the years, you arrive at a couple of conclusions and one is that Blur and Radiohead were the most sophisticated , original and ahead of its time along bands
finally, someone said it!
Absofuckinglutely!👌
Blur are waaay better than Radiohead. But maybe it’s just me, I used to love Radiohead, now I can’t even listen to them.
@@ragtimegals I would say Radiohead have become more timeless, contemporary, and renowned than Blur. It helps that they continue making music, unlike Blur.
Nonsense !! What about Super Furry Animals? Primal Scream? Mansun? Boo Radleys? Spiritualized? etc etc....
Speeding cars are a mystery in London because there's so much traffic that it's impossible to speed
I never got that lyric til now.
reminds me of that one video.
"COME TO FUCKING LONDON!"
But the Lambo driver's still try!
I still find twats speeding their way to an insurance payout in parts of London. I used to live in Beckenham, and there's rich people with fancy cars going way over 30 every now and again.
lmaooooo

The guitar work on this album is sublime
courtesy of graham coxon
Not just this album.
The way Coxen weaves a highly avant garde guitar solo into this perfect piece of pop is 👌
Apparently, Graham wanted to title the song "Fripp" as the solo was his homage to King Crimson, but The Catherine Wheel already had a song with that title, so they retitled it London Loves.
@@mrt77wv I love that fact, thanks for sharing it!
This entire album is a freaking masterpiece, cheers from America
Agreed! From spain
From Magic America? With all the magic people???
Jamie Hellfire it certainly is my friend.
Totally true, cheers from México
So true
i think graham coxon is a greatest guitarist in pop music scene ever. his play is awesome .(from japan .)
👍
With this one song, blur transports me to 90s London. It's encapsulates it perfectly.
i know what you mean!
I made 2 trips to London in 1995. One in spring and the other on New Years Eve. Both were fantastic!
I was up north and we loved it in the student unions.
Didn't quite appreciate this enough when I was a teen in the 90s, now it's the one track from the album I keep going back to. Guitar pop perfection.
Robert Wright so true!!!!!
This is such an underrated song
cool
Got into Blur 4 days ago and i gotta say I’m obsessed:Listened to the hits,Leisure,Modern Life is Rubbish and now I’m here on Parklife, almost at the end of the playlist.Damon never misses man.
Got into them a few weeks ago and they r so good man, I wish I could see them live sometime :(
Also love their the great escape album
Graham's 'asthmatic' guitar breaks make this for me. Supery-doopery! 👌
I can imagine dancing this in a disco in 1994.
Not many were playing this that I can remember. Definitely 'Girls and Boys' and 'Parklife' were regular. I do remember going to clubs and the whole of the Stone Roses album being played from back to front, one after another, but these tended to be in alternative clubs. Such an underpracticed art ! Andy, Malcolm Young, Johnny Marr, Keef himself, talkin rhythm and genius big grooves
that opening riff......................................................................... love love love
La voz de Damon siempre se me ha hecho muy divertida en esta cancion :v
Graham channeled Robert Fripp for that solo.
george412 yep, definitely hearing ‘fashion - bowie’
This is an absolute pleasure to listen to

That David Bowie Low guitar solo 😍😍😍

Catchy little tune from simply a masterpiece of a album.
Marvelous, especially Graham's guitar
Graham is just beyond this planet of clever hooks- his guitar lines are so perfect 🤩
Damon and the whole band paint a picture of dystopian London of racing Cars with people disconnected with each other, a familiar theme for blur. The song Go Out on their last album The Magic Whip, has a similar sort of sense of hopeless alienation without being depression.
One of my favourites from Parklife
One of Blur's best
THIS SONG NEEDS TO BE PLAYED OUT LOUD! What a tuneeeeee
I can't get over the catchiness of this song. It's so infuriating how good this sounds heckkk

A very underrated Blur classic, waiting to be found on a very good album!
True!
Parkside just nailed the Zeitgeist. This track is so witty and sardonic
Fripp guitarr, love it.
Su voz es preciosa!

Brilliant Adrian Belew-like guitar at 1:44
Graham is a guitar god,.
The Cartridge Family exactly i remember that from the video of damon and bowie singing fashion
I was just going to post a comment on that

Si eres de México, quizás vengan al corona capital 2023 🤯
Underrated song🙌🏻
Such a f***in tune even now 2023 90s bands dont come any better in my opinion
I heard this song on the radio this week and thought it was their earlier stuff. Couldn't believe it was on Parklife as I don't remember it. This is now my favourite Blur song!
That's odd because it's not a single.
Lmaoooo doggo on the left
Ram you just worsened my day
Just as I saw your comment I laughed my ass off.
Needed that.
Tritnew1 Alt you're welcome.. I think. :)
Fran, you’re ruining the vibe

The guitar is insane
so underrated...the guitar is brilliant
No, this music not is underrated
love it listen to your album everyday!🐶
As perfect an album that captured the time and culture it was created in, as The Who's QUADROPHENIA...
My favourite song from parklife. Not the most iconic, but certainly sums up blurs creative side.
Fantastic song love the quirky Synths in this one 😎👽👍🏻
Mi adolescencia, siempre la cantaba bien traumada x)
One of my favorite songs EVER.❤️❤️
Luv Damon and Blur.😍💕
about a romance that didn't work, cool x
the guitar on the beginning... so many Crash Bandicoot vibes ;D LOVE IT
Not sure if this or Country Sad Ballad Man has the best anti-solo :)
Love you Blur
17 years old coming from the north hitting the big city ending up in Walthamstow......Best night.

One of the truly Greatest British bands. And that's some pretty 'eavy company right.

LONDON LOVES
When I listen to this, I always wonder if it's an ode to a particular Borough 🤔 I don't think it's Merton believe me 😂 😪 that was too quiet
This is the one 👌🏻
i’m 42 and when i was 14 i was all about oasis , i luvd blur aswell but oasis had that swagger that a 14 yr old wants . now i come back to blur 50/1 sorry liam but we have to grow up
The Sun Never Sets
Where's the sample of the San Francisco groupie? I don't hear it.
The one that sounds a bit like XTC
or Trampled Under Foot?
Buena música !
graham was so ahead of the game
Reminds me of a 1979 song called 7Teen by The Regents.
1:43
Top gear brought me here! But still a great classic!
♡♡♡
This song reminds me of living in London ha
Favourites to rim
Great song. Do I detect a Bowie influence?

Lol, this is one of the funniest album covers ever.
Dog racing is funny? I don't think that's why the band used this photo, but I could be wrong.
Reminds me of Magazine, and Television.
💙💙🎶
