    How We Became Champions | Graeme Sharp and Andy Gray Interview

    Thank you for organising such a brilliant interview with two of the very best Everton Centre Forwards ever. Made me smile at around the 34 minute mark, as Andy was talking about the Man U cup final game, he got a tad carried away and started w*nking off his beer bottle! God I wish they could shed the years and start up front for us again. Thank you both for amazing memories. Andy scoring at Leicester still brings a tear to my eye. COYB's

    Here's a poem called....BORN A BLUE......."Why are we Evertonians dad?...Why was I born a blue?......"It was down to mother nature son...there was nothing we could do!..."just like our Grandads before us lad, we can't help it ...it's in our genes...and as you gradually get older son....YOU'LL REALISE, JUST WHAT THAT MEANS....When you first step into THE OLD LADY...Our place of worship..GOODISON PARK!...It's just like being born again...glorious light!.from out of the gloomy dark....."The feeling we get as THE BLUES run out...with Z CARS playing loud!..unbelievable tingles on the back of our necks...felt by everyone in the crowd!..."When my dad first told me son..that in my veins..MY BLOOD WAS ROYAL BLUE!....Be loud!..Be proud!..he broadly smiled..because every Evertonian is blessed like you........"Is that why I'm good at footy dad?..because there's BLUE BLOOD IN MY VEINS...I'd love to play for Everton dad...just like Leighton Baines!......."Yeah, keep on playing the beautiful game my son...and one day it might come true...I just might see you run out that tunnel lad...proudly wearing THE ROYAL BLUE!....."So tell me once again dad, about great Everton players of your day...."Well I go back to ALEX YOUNG son...I actually saw THE GOLDEN VISION PLAY!..."There's so many Everton legends lad..I couldn't possibly name them all....but THE GREATEST PLAYER that I've ever seen was little curly ALAN BALL......."So I hope I've answered your question son....YOU ARE A BLUE NOSE TO THE BONE!...and someday in the future son, you might have a young lad of your own...and you will also have this conversation...just between him, and you..asking you the very same question ..........."HEY DAD, WHY WAS I BORN A BlUE?"..........(poem was by another born a blue...Frank Hornby..70yrs ago)...💙⚽️...

    Tear in my eye watching this. I was 12 and this was the first year I had a season ticket St. end. Bunked into their place to watch Sharpy bang 'that goal', magical times. Thanks for the memories boys!!

    Wanted to say that I was only 6 years old at Wembley in 84 and when Sharpy scored, it was the first time I saw my Dad cry. I think it was then that I realized what is all meant and the memory stays with me until now. Thank you for this interview, thanks for listening, not interrupting, letting them tell their stories etc.

    Outstanding, I could listen to these two for hours. Legends and what a great time the 80's were. If only for Heysel. Thanks Toffee TV

    I was thinking today about how many actual world class players we have had since we last won the league in 87 and how many of our Premier League era players would get into the current Man City side. I came up with ONE player. Andrei Kanchelskis. Not including ageing world class players like Et'o and Gazza and possibly Rooney...I can't think of anyone. Very sad thought.

    Have no doubt Everton would have won the European Cup in the mid 80s. 1985 was the strongest Everton side in their history just won the league and cup winners cup and momentum was with them. such a shame about Heysel cruel way to be denied

    • @kb5509
      @kb5509 2 роки тому

      No doubt? They'd have had 2 chances maximum in a knockout competition, with a side that was never anywhere near as good again after the first title, and with a number of injury prone players. They could have come up against Maradona or Platini in the first round, or very good Barca, Madrid, Bayern teams. Are they favourites to beat them?
      Far from a guarantee.
