Hello!Thank you for your support for my videos.A good way to start of knowing the notes would be the G major scale.Start practicing your G major scale which covers most of the strings on the yangqin. You can watch my video on G Major scale on the Yangqin for a start.I will slowly introduce other majors in the future if I have the time.Meanwhile have fun!😁

@@yangqinpatrick Patrick 先生、thank you for your reply the G major i watched many times, but in my country they always use C major A minor D major etc is popular, i found it could be hard to practice that. I am looking foward for your new videos in future 🥰🥰 hope you will always be healthy and happy. 幸福健康!!!

@@ヴォティエン If time permit, I will also do a video for C Major if it can help you with getting familiar with the notes on the yangqin. But do give me sometime to prepare as there is a waiting list of other videos. 😁

      Hi !
I am learning the yanqin, like you. There are three parts to consider : the position of the notes in the middle part of the instrument is always the same : one full tone when you move up or down, and one perfect fifth when you move left and hit the next string above (or the same string when you are on the treble bridge).
In this part of the instrument, all major scales and all minor scales are the same. For any major scale you play 1-2-3 notes, then move left and down, then 1-2-3-4 notes, then move left and down, then 1 last note. So when you know one major scale, you can play any other one the same way, as long as you don't go too far in the treble or bass notes.
Then, when you got to the treble part, or to the bass part of the instrument, strings are arranged differently, and you have to learn each scale by heart.
On many yangqins, there are mobile cylindrical nuts that allow to change the value of some notes. I don't have these on my instrument, so I don't know how they are used.

Thanks - very interesting, why are there arrows on the left side of the charts! What about next video?🙂

Hihi!Thank you for your comment! The arrows shows the direction of the smallest number to the highest from right to left.Which is why the lowest number 15 start from the right then to the highest on the left side. I am still planning on the next video as soon as time permits.Have been a really packed schedule for past 2 months with rehearsals, performances and teachings.Thank you so much for your support and understanding!😁

      Hi,
I think that these arrows show the position of the mobile cylindrical nuts on the instrument. The notes that are given on the chart are the notes played when these mobile nuts are pushed to the left.

Hi MrPatrick. What electronic tuner (if any) do you use in order to tune your instrument ? I use BOSS Tuner (Roland corporation) for Android. But its display is quite unstable, especially for treble notes.

    • @yangqinpatrick
      @yangqinpatrick  2 роки тому

Hi Pio2001 I use gstrings app for tuning on Android.Mobile metronome app for metronome on Android. I bought a physical 2 in 1 tuner/metronome that is Cherubi WMT-918T.

@@yangqinpatrick Thank you ! I have installed it and compared it to Boss tuner and to Soundcorset. I checked the highest E on my yangqin with the three of them. According to a spectrum analyzer, the note is 3 cents sharp.
Soundcorset is unstable and say that the note is 10 to 20 cents flat.
In complete silence, Boss tuner and Gstring agree and give the correct result. They say that my E is a bit sharp, but still OK, within 0 / +5 cents.
But when there is a bit of noise, they behave differently. Boss tuner reacts fast and show the right note at the beginning, then becomes unstable as the note decays. Gstring is slower. It also shows the right note at the beginning, but then drifts on the sharp side and stops 5 cents or so above.
On the other hand, Gstring's ability to playback the right frequency through the smartphone's speaker is very nice.

@@Pio2001 Glad to hear that.I do find some flaws in tuner apps. That's why I bought a physical tuner which is much more accurate then apps. But sometimes for emergencies, the app still comes in handy! All the best!😁👍
