Amen brother! It reminded me about Hebrews 13: Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.
I had such a similar lesson these days, about praising and be thankful on the hard times, even when we dont feel like it. God bless you brother

Wow, this really blessed me-thanks so much, brother! I must admit I've failed a lot in this in my life as a Christian. God has brought me through some very tough trials over the last several years, and one thing I noticed is that the trials (even though I really didn't like them) birthed in me thanksgiving-praise Him! Philippians is one of my favorite books in the Bible. It's so encouraging! God bless you!

The card game analogy is so good. I'm gonna remember that. Also I love thinking about laying down thoughts that oppose gratitude in terms of sacrifice. What occurred to me is that Jesus endured the cross for the joy set before him. In facing death, the joy to come was his motivation. And I think it's the same way, when we choose to die to self, to sacrifice, to lay down an anxious or negative thought, our motivation should be the joy that's coming when we obey. Because the act of gratitude actually releases blessings. When we choose thankfulness, fruit comes, in all different forms and ultimately joy is our reward, which is our strength. Like anything else, whatever he mandates is for our good and his glory. Thanks for the new angle!

“And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.”

    - Proverbs 21:2 (KJV
“And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
    - Mark 12:33 (KJV)
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”
    - Romans 12:1 (KJV)
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

Have you thought about doing youth work? I think you would be really good. You have a calming genuine vibe that I think young people would really appreciate.
