At 2.10: The road leading to the Winter Gardens. The road is still there; leading to a car park. The council said they were going to demolish the venue and replace it with an arts centre. They kept the first part of their intention. This is typical. Great video. I was attending concerts there on a regular basis myself at the time.
Holdenhurst Village Hall 1978. My band supported Raw Deal. At one point durng our set I smashed a light at the front of the stage. During Raw Deal's first number Ray Foster managed to insert the end of his mic stand into the socket & flew to the back of the stage in a cloud of smoke. I seem to remember he continued after he recovered. A couple of years later he replaced me in Manhattan Slide....that's rock 'n' roll!
Dick......great video. Can remember it all as if it was yesterday! By the way the gig was April 13th 1973. Cant believe our cars made it all the way to Bournemouth! Recognised Tim Leggat, Kevin Sheridan, Steve Knight, Steve Bell and brother, Chris Larne [?] Esme Clutterbuck. Clive Bawden, Mr W, Mick Lane......the rest escape me for the moment.
They should never have demolished the Winter Gardens or the Pier Approach. Both were great buildings What will they do with the ice skating rink in Westover rd ? It is still there rotting and empty as far as i know.
all good fun and not a mobile phone in sight. better days.
