This performance was on 7/10/16. No copyright infringement intended. Recorded at the Ford Theater with permission.

They women are ALL fabulous singers. Remember guys/gals the original production was 35 years ago. Their vocals were so stellar then that generations later folk are still talking about it and trying to remake it. There's so many touring companies out there now trying to recapture what they've done. Just enjoy them where they are now. Vocally they shouldn't be where they were 35 years ago. All have done tremendous work since then. Love them all. Real Divas!!!!!!

They were basically acting out their characters for the song. This was the song used to convince Effie to accept the secondary singing position.

Chantal Alexander Unfortunately thats not true. If you research & watch the clips from both LadEs “Unsung” episodes, you will get “THEIR OWN WORDS,” stating their problems with each other & how much of an big it was. I believe their are now “CORDIAL” in DIVA’s sense of the word...!

I believe in the actual show, Jennifer Holiday's character ("Effie") does not sing in this number, AT ALL. The other characters use the song to comfort and embrace her. She has no muscle memory of singing it; rather, she stood center stage while everyone else encircled her. This must have been awkward for her.

Actually Sharon Brown joined them or the Michelle parts She played Effie in the tour after the Broadway show closed. Sharon Brown is cousin the Michael Peters. who was the co choreographer to the original show. Sharon got fame by replacing Laurie Beechman in Joseph and the Amazing Technocolor Dreamcoat.

I liked it...it sounded dissonant at first to me, but their voices actually have a lot of character to me, it's not the cookie cutter vocals I think we're used to these days. It grew on me, I enjoyed it a lot in retrospect.
Loretta Devine can't sing at all in my opinion. She's better as an actress.
