I am on disability and have medocare. One of my diabetes medications caused my teeth to start crumbling. I now look like I have meth mouth even though I have never used illegal drugs. I have no way to cover the dental care that I need and suffer from frequent infections and tooth pain. It makes eating difficult and negatively affects my overall health and quality of life.
Thanks to hereditary issues and a lifetime of medications, I am missing all my upper teeth and most of my lower teeth yet cannot afford dentures. I had to have my upper teeth extracted at 21 since they were breaking down so fast, my bottom front four teeth are pristine compared to the rest of the bottom teeth, cursed genes like tiger stripes in my mouth but enamel makeup instead of orange and black stripes. I want to get implants but they're unreasonably expensive by far, so I've had to deal with a denture plate for the uppers and my shoddy bottom teeth (minus the four front ones) crumbling in the meantime for 6 years by this upcoming October. Japan has a clinical trial for growing new natural teeth though that I am hoping will actually be affordable or even available at all but I don't even know what to do anymore about it.
My teeth began crumbling and breaking down when I was in my 30’s. My dentist said it was because when I had braces as a kid, the orthodontists of time tightened the braces too tight thereby damaging the enamel that only showed up years later and when it did show up it’s been in enormous ways

I went to a dentist who works with Medicaid patients and I still had to pay out of pocket for a mouth guard bc I teeth grind at night when I’m asleep. apparently it was considered “cosmetic” to get my teeth re-aligned bc of how bad my teeth grinding is. They tried charging me $200 for the mouth guard that supposedly wasn’t cosmetic. So idk WTF I was getting covered until after the fact. Complete waste of my time bc I didn’t have $200 to drop just for a mouth guard that won’t even fix my issue. And what’s funny is that dentist knew this was wrong and she literally told me that if everyone just had a flat fee, EVERYONE including rich ppl, like $20 for every dental visit, they’d probably be able to make just as much money if not more instead of essentially r**ing poor ppl for basic dental needs. America is falling apart faster now bc these problems have been around for way too long.

I just had a full mouth extraction today, I'm still bleeding, icing my face to help the swelling, dentures already in hand, I'm only 45...why so young? Lack of affordable dental care to keep my teeth healthy. Fortunately for me I happened to find myself in a bad way last year, no income or assets, found myself hospitalized applying for medicaid, which I was approved for and it came with dental insurance, so while I have insurance I got this done, otherwise it would've cost me around $12,000 (which I have nearly nothing of), only had to pay $39 copay.

North Carolina has a monopoly set up that new dentist can't come in. So you don't have people coming in making new offices of dentistry because they're literally locked out by the dentistry here.
Reform dental insurance please. I have dental insurance coverage it helps however could be better. Being a Diabetic back in 2021 I had perfect teeth However the diabetes attacked my mouth dislocated every single tooth of my mouth from the jawline in other words the root of each tooth was floating in between the gum and jaw line. Very painful. Out-of-pocket cost was $6000. Procedure done through Aspen dental. Bottom dentures didn't fit went back 2 weeks later refitting they wanted charge me full price again when tech lab miss calculated dimensions during fitting 1st time. Coverage covers $1000 per year calendar.
DDOs are subject to the same educational standards as MDs, and all the according up-front financial and time investment needed. The only way to make dental care more accessible is to lower educational and financial barriers to entry to increase the number of dentists or create a certification system for dental hygienists like that which exists for nurses; subsidizing medical training or dental coverage (ideally both) is needed to make dental care more affordable.
Fasa I've heard is terrible this time. It wasn't great before, so that is getting your I. T person involved and calling to the public and to the Universities. To let them know there's a problem and that you're doing something about it. That would be the administrator who took the initiative of doing this.
A lot of patients are embarrassed. They come in only after extreme pain and they look upon the cost of that dental cleaning to a week's worth of meals. That's a big incentive not to go.
I have 2 teeth that have been broken for 3 years now. Thanks to the covid stimulus, I finally managed to put enough aside to get 1 of them fixed. That literally saved my life because that tooth had an abscess that was progressively getting worse (and was extremely painful to the point where I couldn't sleep), and was threatening to evolve into sepsis. I still need to fix the other 2 befoer they reach that point. But the dentist wants 3k per molar extraction. And an additional 18k to fix the remainng issues that are serious, but not to the point of causing a dental emergency (yet). I can't possibly pay that while paying overinflated rent, and overinflated food prices on these garbage wages. No I do not live outside my means. I make as many sacrifices as I possibly can to make ends meet. I cook my own meals because it's cheaper. I walk instead of drive where possible to save on gas (in spite of living in the south where everything is built for the car). I never eat out anymore. I don't buy expensive garbage I don't need (I might buy 1 videogame every few months after saving money for it). I keep my teeth VERY clean in hopes that it prevents another infection in spite of 2 molars being broken, because if it happens again. I'm as good as dead. There won't be a 2nd stimulus.

No Jewish student in the U.S. Colleges is being subjected to antisemitism. Senator Cassidy is part of the "alternative truth" ZONE prevaricators.
I had to have my upper teeth extracted at 21 since they were breaking down so fast, my bottom front four teeth are pristine compared to the rest of the bottom teeth, cursed genes like tiger stripes in my mouth but enamel makeup instead of orange and black stripes.
I want to get implants but they're unreasonably expensive by far, so I've had to deal with a denture plate for the uppers and my shoddy bottom teeth (minus the four front ones) crumbling in the meantime for 6 years by this upcoming October.
Japan has a clinical trial for growing new natural teeth though that I am hoping will actually be affordable or even available at all but I don't even know what to do anymore about it.
My teeth began crumbling and breaking down when I was in my 30’s. My dentist said it was because when I had braces as a kid, the orthodontists of time tightened the braces too tight thereby damaging the enamel that only showed up years later and when it did show up it’s been in enormous ways
Right now, dental insurance that I have looked at has a pre-existing condition clause, and usually a yearly max payout of $1500 (something that might have been fine in 1970). The US needs a single payer health system! Vote Blue!!
I have medicaid up here in Vermont. No appts. for dental cleaning, 300 people on waiting list, call back in two months. Sounds just like the affordable housing crisis. As for seeing a doctor, I can see one in 9 months.... Inexcusable!
I went to a dentist who works with Medicaid patients and I still had to pay out of pocket for a mouth guard bc I teeth grind at night when I’m asleep. apparently it was considered “cosmetic” to get my teeth re-aligned bc of how bad my teeth grinding is. They tried charging me $200 for the mouth guard that supposedly wasn’t cosmetic. So idk WTF I was getting covered until after the fact. Complete waste of my time bc I didn’t have $200 to drop just for a mouth guard that won’t even fix my issue. And what’s funny is that dentist knew this was wrong and she literally told me that if everyone just had a flat fee, EVERYONE including rich ppl, like $20 for every dental visit, they’d probably be able to make just as much money if not more instead of essentially r**ing poor ppl for basic dental needs. America is falling apart faster now bc these problems have been around for way too long.
And yeah I need jaw surgery and apparently that’s considered “cosmetic” in the dental healthcare system. I bleed when I brush my teeth and I wake up with pain every morning. Apparently that’s not enough to help me get something done for an affordable price.

I just had a full mouth extraction today, I'm still bleeding, icing my face to help the swelling, dentures already in hand, I'm only 45...why so young? Lack of affordable dental care to keep my teeth healthy. Fortunately for me I happened to find myself in a bad way last year, no income or assets, found myself hospitalized applying for medicaid, which I was approved for and it came with dental insurance, so while I have insurance I got this done, otherwise it would've cost me around $12,000 (which I have nearly nothing of), only had to pay $39 copay.

North Carolina has a monopoly set up that new dentist can't come in. So you don't have people coming in making new offices of dentistry because they're literally locked out by the dentistry here.

Reform dental insurance please. I have dental insurance coverage it helps however could be better. Being a Diabetic back in 2021 I had perfect teeth However the diabetes attacked my mouth dislocated every single tooth of my mouth from the jawline in other words the root of each tooth was floating in between the gum and jaw line. Very painful. Out-of-pocket cost was $6000. Procedure done through Aspen dental. Bottom dentures didn't fit went back 2 weeks later refitting they wanted charge me full price again when tech lab miss calculated dimensions during fitting 1st time. Coverage covers $1000 per year calendar.

DDOs are subject to the same educational standards as MDs, and all the according up-front financial and time investment needed. The only way to make dental care more accessible is to lower educational and financial barriers to entry to increase the number of dentists or create a certification system for dental hygienists like that which exists for nurses; subsidizing medical training or dental coverage (ideally both) is needed to make dental care more affordable.
Fasa I've heard is terrible this time. It wasn't great before, so that is getting your I. T person involved and calling to the public and to the Universities. To let them know there's a problem and that you're doing something about it. That would be the administrator who took the initiative of doing this.

A lot of patients are embarrassed. They come in only after extreme pain and they look upon the cost of that dental cleaning to a week's worth of meals. That's a big incentive not to go.
I have 2 teeth that have been broken for 3 years now.
Thanks to the covid stimulus, I finally managed to put enough aside to get 1 of them fixed. That literally saved my life because that tooth had an abscess that was progressively getting worse (and was extremely painful to the point where I couldn't sleep), and was threatening to evolve into sepsis.
I still need to fix the other 2 befoer they reach that point. But the dentist wants 3k per molar extraction. And an additional 18k to fix the remainng issues that are serious, but not to the point of causing a dental emergency (yet). I can't possibly pay that while paying overinflated rent, and overinflated food prices on these garbage wages.
No I do not live outside my means. I make as many sacrifices as I possibly can to make ends meet. I cook my own meals because it's cheaper. I walk instead of drive where possible to save on gas (in spite of living in the south where everything is built for the car). I never eat out anymore. I don't buy expensive garbage I don't need (I might buy 1 videogame every few months after saving money for it).
I keep my teeth VERY clean in hopes that it prevents another infection in spite of 2 molars being broken, because if it happens again. I'm as good as dead. There won't be a 2nd stimulus.

And going to a free service is only more embarrassing. So that's not the answer. That's only for the people who are like I said in pain. The ones that can be preventative won't go because of embarrassment.
I'm on Medicare, now. Medicate is better! With Medicare I had over $700 in out of pocket for the month of January. Never had that on Medicaid. Just saying if your at retirement age and you've been on Medicaid get ready for your medical expenses to go up.

Most people like me cant even afford healthcare still. I have applied tor that Obama care several times the lowest they will go for me is $250 or so. I still can not afford that. I woukd have to choose between my light bill water bill, or groceries.
