This was my first walking the walk I watched from you when the game first came out! I really enjoyed the open world in this game, it’s actually the only open world outside a few Bethesda games that I genuinely liked exploring the whole way through. It’s use of color, traversal and mystery really worked for me, and the map wasn’t overwhelmingly big. Your walking the walk helps put a lot of these factors into perspective for me, so thanks! Keep up the great work.
didn't love this game but man does this game look jaw dropping epic every 10 seconds. It's not just pretty but it has a visual sense of grandeur and constantly presents unique sci-fi iconography. Really hyped to see if the series can win me over with the sequel because I would love to fully enjoy something this awe-inspiring, visually.
Ah Walking the Walk on my favorite game of all time! Horizon Zero Dawn just checked off all of the boxes for me. Visually, storyline, gameplay loop, cool factor and that carrot that keeps you wanting more. I platinumed the game and will have to get it on the PC for that ultrawide 60+ fps support. Screenarchery here we go!!
Can’t tell you how much more I was able to appreciate the little details going into Witcher 3 for the first time because of these videos. Thank you sir and keep up the excellent work.
Great video, just my thoughts; I played this on the PS4, one of the best games I've ever played. What you are saying about adapting the engine to open world makes sense as I had some encounters glitch a bit. For instance when I went to the desert town just on exploring I got a warning about the Shadow Carja before I had done that quest yet. To your point on Mad Max, I think a lot of people missed the actual message. The game was supposed to be tedious and pointless, just like Max's life. It's one of the few times I've played a game where the game design was aligned with the point of the story perfectly. Before the ending I was annoyed at the repetitiveness, after the ending it made a lot more sense and made me think the design choices were intentional. I'm glad they got rid of the horse, i would not have fit the ending at all. This had some of the smoothest combat I've ever experienced, surprising how much trouble they had at first, glad they fixed it, this came could have easily become Gothic/Elex (Piranha Bytes) level combat which has never been fun to me.
I actually loved how this game was a stealth game in the beginning but by the end you could take the machines down face to face. Really solidified the growth of her learning about the machines.
I absolutely love these deep dives into video games. And for Horizon: Zero Dawn especially. What a wonderful job you did teasing out the details on the game, the engine, and the studio who created this great game. Thank you.
Really enjoyed this when it came out, solid title. I specifically remember that the game world really opens up incrementally and the narrative too so its not just throwing you into a sandbox with "you must save the world" straight away which I liked. looking forward to the sequel. Hopefully sans multiplayer and microtransactions
First played this in 2018. My favorite game ever. Ghost of Tsushima is out now and as fun, beautiful and captivating as that game is, Horizon is still just the best in my opinion.
This is so incredibly interesting! Horizon is probably my favorite game in the past 5 years, a deeper dive into how it all works together is much welcomed.
Well I'm obviously not picking this game up, but simply and only because I purchased the game on day one when it first came out on PS4, then proceeded to beat it and get the platinum trophy, and then got the Frozen Wilds DLC(which was fantastic). So their really is no incentive for me to buy this game on PC now. But I have to say, it's not only looking fantastic in terms of graphical fidelity, but I'm super happy that Sony made the [right] call to put this on another console. I understand the hesitation to put one of there PS exclusives onto a different console, but they finally are viewing PC as less of a competitor and more of an untapped market and potential buyers of there home consoles. Which is smart. As much as it's obvious that the big three (Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony) are direct competitors. I think it's now clear that if someone is mainly a PC gamer, they most likely also have a console, unlike strict console-only gamers who usually just pick their favorite console and stick to it. Sony wants to show PC gamers, "Keep enjoying your fantastic, power house machines, but if you ever decide to grab a console, go with us, this is the type of games we have.", which is incredibly smart. Kudos to Sony for making a smart business decision and allowing more people to play their fantastic games.
Hands down one of the best series you have!! always brings a smile on my face watching and chilling 40 minutes analyzing the world of these games! never stop it please. cant find em elsewhere
While it isn’t for everyone, I like this kinda stuff. Design theory, what really goes into making a game like this really work, and how every piece is important in its own way. Keep this up, I’m liking these.
I'll never forget the experience of playing this game for the first time. I hope the sequel can re-create that feeling i had. The sense of danger I felt from the machines, the sense of wonder from the environment, it was just so great. Getting ready to play it again on PC.
I love the games many hud settings. The game works great with dynamic setting so the player can fully enjoy the world. If you need any information about the quest you can call it up by one press of a button. There is also no minimap as far as I can remember, so for the players to see what is going on around them they would use the device called Focus, which is also part of the story and not just some typical game eagle view type of thing.
These videos are simply brilliant. You are so good are picking up on the little details and talking about them with passion and wit. Please do more of these.
One night I was watching someone else do a playthrough of Horizon and I decided that in the morning, I was going to go out and find a deal on a used PS4. Instead I woke up to the news that it was coming to PC. So I still don't have a PS4 and am eagerly awaiting the release.
I don't know your financial situation but why not buy a PS4? I got a PS4 Pro when it went on sale, there are enough great games to warrant buying it. I've never owned a playstation and have been an Xbox and PC gamer my whole life, there were so many exclusive games on the PS4 that I decided to buy it. Check Kijiji if you want to buy a used one....
@@UnsaltedCashew38 Hard to justify buying one just for one game. Yeah Sony has some great exclusives but the only one that interested me was Horizon and soon I can get it on PC so why? Like I said, I was going to do it anyway but that very day was the PC announcement. Ghost of Tsushima looks good too but if it really is that good, there will probably be a PC port and I can wait. Especially since I have Horizon, Cyberpunk and another AC game all coming my way soon
@@wingracer1614 Yeah obviously not worth it for one game but there are quite a few exclusives, I'm not going to list them as you can google them. It is a brilliant game. I have played it several times and the DLC so not going to rebuy on PC. Though for anyone I would recommend playing it. I just have too many games to get through still. The main game is excellent and well paced. A few invisible barriers and a few areas that the player should be able to climb but doesn't. Also I stood in a big mound of snow and the character model just sort of clipped through it rather than the snow reacting to the character. Characters are a bit wooden during the dialogue branching scenes. The DLC goes on a bit long in places, but the characters have a bit more personality in the DLC including Aloy and also the wilderness is stunning in places. Overall though it is a phenomenal first game with alot they can build on in the sequel.

I meant to buy this on launch, but didn't have a chance and luckily I got the complete edition a couple years back for an insane steal of $20. I adored this game, played it all and the DLC and was craving a sequel. I'm so glad they finally announced the sequel. I am so ready
I really like this game and it’s awesome to see your walking the walk on it. Honestly I think your walking the walks are my favorite thing. Discussing world design and artistic choices is what is something I really enjoy. I’d love to see a walking the walking on another completely different type of Decima game, Death Stranding.

Hi. I am a regular viewer of your game reviews but never subscribed to your channel. So I just discovered this series today, and being an avid enthusiast of open-world design, I am excited to watch the whole series. Can you be a good lad and make a dedicated playlist for the series, please?
Hey Karak! Always loved your content. Your reviews are really informative for me to make a decision about whether I buy a game or not. But the secret juice on your channel are these walking the walk videos. I know you dont have that much admiritaion for Death Stranding but can you do a Walking the walk video on that? I would love it and I m sure there are people like me. Keep up the good work man, stay safe in this crazy time!
Great video, I always enjoy your WALK throughs and definitely trust your reviews. I love HorizonZD, AC:Odyssey and more recently Ghost of Tsushima. I have one criticism on the video though, I don't recall if it was used on other videos, but I find the white text over a yellow block ...a little difficult to read... for the gamefacts, even with the slight drop shadow/outer glow.
I personaly love this (Your) kind of breckdown. I'm a game designer and I watch while im working. Especialy when its a game I really like. Please I welcome more form you. I like how you particularly breckdown games, Actually its the best to be honest. The way you use words to is something to behold. Been watching you for a while. Morse code quest lines HAHAHAH love it, im using that.

Im so hyped to finally play this, I almost bought a PS4 just so I could play HZD but chose a good PC instead. When I saw it for 7 USD on steam my heart skipped a beat. I knew I had to get it ASAP and Im glad I did cause the price increased a few hours later. Anyway, love these type of videos, hope it doesnt spoil me anything. EDIT: it would be nice if the fun facts stayed a little longer on screen.
@@freakbag420 That had to be a mistake. Steam is ALWAYS the most expensive choice at pre-launch. I wouldn't be surprised if the poor soul who mistakenly did it is dead in a ditch somewhere.
I love the atmosphere in ff7 remake npc, they all talking in the background depend on what event is going on like small story and rumour, even in chapter 3 you can have spoiler from these npc talking about ghost in train graveyard
Definitely do more of these! The amount of work game developers put into games is constantly going over looked, especially when a game fails to live up to a particular expectation, neck beards have zero hesitation in blaming lazy/careless developers when the actual problem goes far beyond the development team.
I will buy this game again on PC to support the devs. They deserve the praise with all the hardwork they put into making this game. They made a game looks this good on a base PS4!
It's much more important how the world is filled with content and how said content is realized in an open world game, than small superficial graphic elements.
Honestly this is one of the only games where I took the time to read and collect all the notes and audio logs left behind because everything was just so well written
Love this game but what i love more is that they were given the greenlight on a sequel they put their heart into, and clearly have a desire to keep working in this world they created, which makes going to work alot easier for them. I'm sure it sucks working on a game that your heart isn't in, whereas this, they clearly built a world they love and now can expand with more fresh and original ideas. They always have been a tremendous development team, and following them from the PS2 days, I'm so proud of them for receiving the critical reception they finally deserve. Because, while I've loved mostly every single game they ever put out(minus the PS4 Killzone, that was terrible), not alot of their games have been critical darlings like the other sony first party studios. Naughty Dog(Crash, Jak and Daxter, Uncharted, The Last Of Us), Suckerpunch(Sly Cooper, InFamous, Ghost of Tsushima) and insomniac(spyro, ratchet and clank, spiderman) all had there huge monster hits that everybody loved, and guerilla games was deff like their black sheep out of the main 4 first party studios for sony. And while even insomniac had a few misteps(the resistance franchise) they always had there classics to fall back on. Meanwhile Guerilla Games always seemed to have people divided about there games, while definitely putting out great stuff and having a solid core, they never reached the heights of there sister development teams....until now. Now they have a unanimous, Bonafide, undeniable hit. Very happy for them. Their future is looking brighter than ever.
I think they turned some of the settings off for the base ps4 version. It wasn't really as impressive as Death Stranding's when I played on my base ps4 so I hope I see a change when I play on PC in a few days

I really appreciate these videos! I understand if you can't do them very often, but please do more!
I really enjoy how you compare and breakdown little details.
I meant to buy this on launch, but didn't have a chance and luckily I got the complete edition a couple years back for an insane steal of $20. I adored this game, played it all and the DLC and was craving a sequel. I'm so glad they finally announced the sequel. I am so ready
Walking the walk is some of my fav series on youtube! Good stuff man
These are the best videos please continue!
It's so interesting listening to you share your knowledge of games. I enjoy these videos very much. Thank you!
For someone who knows almost nothing about the technical aspects of making a game like this one, this video was super interesting and enlightening!
I really like this game and it’s awesome to see your walking the walk on it. Honestly I think your walking the walks are my favorite thing. Discussing world design and artistic choices is what is something I really enjoy. I’d love to see a walking the walking on another completely different type of Decima game, Death Stranding.
This game was amazing. If there’s a collectors edition for the PS5 sequel I’m getting it.
Watched this twice now. Love the 'Walking the walk' videos.
Really looking forward to seeing it on P.C.
Loved hzd on ps4, one of my fave games this gen.
Ive recently started newgane plus!!
Its an epic game, looks and sounds amazing, and plays like a dream!!
Pc gamers will love it!!
This is such a great series, LOVE the long videos!
Great. As UA-cam continues its slide toward being just like the cable TV we all ditched for it years ago, now we get "re-runs". And I get notified on my phone during dinner for them. Awesome.
Hey bro. Love your content! Keep rocking!
Ur best series! Never stop walking the walk🚶🏻♂️
I miss the international podcast wish you could still upload it to UA-cam dont have a twich account
I was wondering where they went
40:15 "corrupted almost morse-code sounding"
its a network card connecting via dial up internet.
but you werent here before the cataclysm, so its unfamiliar.
As a game designer, I appreciate these videos.
Hi. I am a regular viewer of your game reviews but never subscribed to your channel. So I just discovered this series today, and being an avid enthusiast of open-world design, I am excited to watch the whole series. Can you be a good lad and make a dedicated playlist for the series, please?
Thanks for bringing these videos back!
Fantastic game, it's my favorite of this gen. Also this a very informative video about game design, i love the walk the walk videos!!! ❤️👍
I’m so glad to see these new Walk the Walks.
Morse code quest lines HAHAHAH love it, im using that.
i love the walking the walk videos keep up the good work
Love these videos! This one really made me appreciate HZD a lot more
These are my favorite type of video you do
I love stuff like this. Please keep making it! One suggestion... While one yellow text is kinda hard to read for pop up boxes. Can your consider a different combination?
Im so hyped to finally play this, I almost bought a PS4 just so I could play HZD but chose a good PC instead. When I saw it for 7 USD on steam my heart skipped a beat. I knew I had to get it ASAP and Im glad I did cause the price increased a few hours later. Anyway, love these type of videos, hope it doesnt spoil me anything.
EDIT: it would be nice if the fun facts stayed a little longer on screen.
Wait what?! It was only 7 dollars on steam?
@@Derek_The_Magnificent_Bastard bizarre
@@freakbag420 That had to be a mistake. Steam is ALWAYS the most expensive choice at pre-launch. I wouldn't be surprised if the poor soul who mistakenly did it is dead in a ditch somewhere.
@@Derek_The_Magnificent_Bastard lmfao
My favorite game this gen, and the best engine and open world this gen (imho).
I really appreciate this kind of didactic content! Thank you! ;)
10:30 I still wait for the day that Picasso draws a tree.
I will buy this game again on PC to support the devs. They deserve the praise with all the hardwork they put into making this game. They made a game looks this good on a base PS4!
Platinumed this one. Loved it. Great story, good pacing, mechanics were awesome. Looking forward to the sequel.
PCers enjoy!
This was such a beautiful game, and it was interesting to get a take on the mechanics underneath.
Really great analysis! Thank you and keep it up!
Great discussion! Keep up the good work Jeremy.
Great video. Really gets me excited to play the PC version soon (didn't play on the ps4).
Awesome, I just watched the original about a week ago and it was really insightful! I'll make sure to watch this one as well
I LOVE KARAK
keeping doing this series, I love it
The engine is absolutely outstanding they’ve got some really skilled software engineers. Really looking forward to the next instalment.
Their future is looking brighter than ever.
death stranding also used decima engine.
Re-post? Cool. I like these walking the walk videos.
Awesome content..!!!! I replayed this vid like 3 times...
I think they turned some of the settings off for the base ps4 version. It wasn't really as impressive as Death Stranding's when I played on my base ps4 so I hope I see a change when I play on PC in a few days
I just got HZD platinum trophy yesterday 😄
This was still entertaining on the 2nd time too. Thanks Karak :) Please do a walking the walk on RDR 2 pc version if you have the time ofc :D
Walking the walk +1 like/ love this content and I hope the algorithm does too!
This game was / is absolutely gorgeous on a PS4 Pro; the lighting and color palette is so vibrant and varied.
This is gonna look INSANE on a PC.
