Hey I like your channel, but not happy with the thumbnail. Bob Ross was always really welcoming of everyone. His public persona was never about making "great art". It was about the joy of doing it.
Oof I felt that, and I hear you. It was meant as a juxtaposition to the text but I recognize it may be in poor taste now. I've learned a lot from doing these videos so a lot of my old ones are starting to make me cringe a bit. I'll take care with all future thumbnails and with the Bob Ross persona. Hope you can forgive the misstep and keep supporting!
@@ZephyerArt Hi please don't take my comment to heart . When I took my first drawing class at about 18, I could barely make a mark because of the chorus of internal criticizers. I had internalized the whole "talent as gift" idea too. And having others reinforce that by making sure that I knew that I wasn't one of the gifted ones, didn't help. My reaction to Bob Ross and the text probably came from finally, in my 50's realizing what a generous soul he was. Modern culture only values art when it's successful. I don't think...it seems that webelieve that unless you are a good or an exceptional artist, a professional level singer, then you have no right to paint or sing. Creative endeavors make us FEEL good. Or they should. So there is one nasty comment from 40 plus years ago that stings less when I watch Bob Ross. I still struggle to sing, even when I'm alone, from being laughed at while singing as a kid. I found out that during the pandemic , some teachers would play his videos to help students with their anxiety. So please don't cringe...my own stuff was behind my reaction. Aaand...have you looked around at the cluster you-know-what going on EVERYWHERE lately??!
