I would love to se a new recording of this review - mostly so I can see what your talking about, lol. 240, yikes! Really appreciate your reviews! And ten years in, they're still useful, so thanks!
Because when you use "Black Market", you need one copy of every other card. When using regular cards instead of placeholders, I have the Black Market deck ready to go. For me, the placeholder cards are a waste of time and space.
I have watched dozen of Dominion reviews and havent ever played it yet :))) Every time it looks very interesting though. At the beginning you mentioned that you have some problem with that set, but i probably missed that part, or was it something insignificant?
This expansion included what I was looking for from this game, the ability to take out victory pt. cards from my hand without penalty! The ability to use certain cards for more than 1 round of play is also appealing.
I found the cardboard pieces a little unnecessary and were there mostly for show. I sometimes don't even use them just because they're a waste of space. I'm also not a huge fan of the Embargo card, especially when other cards involving curse cards are being played. I found that that curse cards ended up running out way too fast for Embargo to really do anything. At best, it's an okay early game card, but dies out quick in curse heavy games.
This guy isn’t good at explaining. For example, when describing Merchant ship, he says “two gold” but he really should say “two treasure” or “two money”
Ten years later and it’s the best board game explanation video I’ve seen. Thank you so much!
Tom, thanks for taking the time to do these reviews. I really appreciate it.

have you thought about rerecording these gems?
He did the 2nd edition of Dominion and Intrigue, and he'll probably do the 2nd edition of Seaside and Prosperity when they come out.
Yeah, the coins seem to work in this set, but their continued use for other purposes worries me.

Thanks Tom. I'm sold. I'm going to my FLGS today and picking this and Shadows over Camelot. Thanks again! Keep up the good work.
the game comes with extra cards to randomize the decks anyway... they are blue on the back instead of brown....
78 kingdom cards back then. "If this is where dominion stops" Tom says... 😂
You have to put the cards face-up on the island mat :-)

Nice tip for organizing the game @ the start of the video!
why not just use the placeholders to select decks instead of removing one card from each deck to make a new deck
I love old videos
I really found this informative thanks!
nice review!
but you mistake "+1 Coin" for +1 gold all the time
Look at Tom strumming over all those decks of cards. He looks like Dexter strumming over his blood samples!
Those coins are great as replacements for Nusfjord money...
The province pile isn’t considered a supply pile. Only the ten kingdom decks in play are supply piles
That's incorrect
Smidge? :)
Now you can play any expansion with just the Base Cards. :)

without all those board games youd be rich, id still rather have the games though.
Why not use a cell phone app?

Who cares? It's only an overview so people can see if they might like the expansion, not a full-on rules explanation to learn the game.
