When I was a kid, just a young budding musician, I had one of these and I was so upset about it. I wanted a big concert style keyboard. I had no idea the power that was in my hands at the time. I would give anything to have that little thing back.
@@decoy3418 in all honesty something like this would be terrible to learn piano on. the person in the video likely learned on real pianos or full-sized keyboards to be able to jam on this thing. you can't get 'good' at playing a real piano playing something like this, so the OP was correct in being disappointed and wanting something different.
I had this same keyboard when I was probably 7 or 8. It was coolest thing ever to me and I was devastated when one day it just simply stopped turning on.
I seriously teared up. So much of this reminded me of Legacy Of The Wizard, Willow, Dragon Warrior, Startropics, Crystalis, Astyanax, Faxanadu, Duck Tales, and so many others.
From what I understand, it provides the backing tracks and can you mute certain channels so that you can learn to play along with the leds that light up above the keyboard. All the keyboard sounds are limited to what you see under "tone."
I have an old casio with the ROM cartridge (mine came with one with Thriller, Don't Be Cruel, It's Still Rock n Roll to Me, and Karma Chameleon, they made a bunch of these), sadly the YMO cartridge isn't a real item (says in the video description, but only in Japanese). It has a couple functions, it can either play the track as a "demo", and it can light up a little LED next to the key as the notes go by to teach you to play the song.
@@dokydokyThank you. If the YMO ROM isn't real, how did the artist compose this track? In a DAW / computer? I want to play YMO on this Casio with the backing tracks :)
Hello, the Famicom called, it would like all its beautiful musical treasures back please. Seriously, my nostalgia bone just fell all the way out of me listening to this; I absolutely love it. I would listen to this as an entire album. Please make this an entire album. I'll buy it.
Alright, just on the off chance anyone is seeing this and enjoying it and are unaware of the originals, buckle up ua-cam.com/video/MFu66ye6YWM/v-deo.html
i checked the casio rom list, and im wondering, are these rom packs official, or they are custom made? or they were non commercial for internal use of the band?

anything can be an instrument in the hand of a musician
@@Milko_Rosas even a literal instrument lmao
They show up on reverb and eBay for not much. But you can get free daws/vsts and make music right this minute :)
Never blame your tools.

当時のROMですよ技細かいな。
わざわざ昔のキーボード探して弾いてみたい衝動に駆られる動画。
Does the ROM exist? People are saying it isn't a real YMO ROM :(
何周も何周も回って、また今新鮮。
世代ど真ん中にとってはYMOってある意味ものっそいエモいんだよなあ

I love how the red model is slightly detuned in comparison to the white one. Real neat.
It sounds so cool
the transition between the two on the 2:04 is amazing
Huge nostalgia rush hearing these sounds. Lovely.
oh, so that's how retro music for anime and video games was done back in the 80s, feels like magic , thanks for sharing!
They basically transcripted a midi track into the chiptune
my precise thoughts!!!
Such a good video. Immediately recognized this was Yellow Magic Orchestra. Beautiful.
レトロ感が最高。

It's Cosmic Surfin, very good song! The live version from Bodukan in 1980 is the best if you want to look it up!

Designed to be operated by children or dwarfs.
But it brings back good memories. Thanks for sharing.
So cool !
Incredible. What does the rom cart do? Provide the backing tracks? Or patches to sound like YMO?
