Sounds fantastic man. I can see why you gravitate towards that guitar. I feel the same way about my Fender Yngwie Strat. Very versatile from beautiful cleans and it can give you the goods when playing rock and metal.
I have recently bought one in roxy pink after GASing for a shell pink strat. It is a great guitar. I have a custom made strat and have previously owned an am pro 2. The silver sky is not a strat copy at all unless we want to start calling every double humbucker guitars an sg or les pau copies. Ergonomically the knobs are further away from the strings and you don't bump on them. The heel is not as obtrusive. The neck is carved perfectly, the wood selection for necks and fretboards looks very premium too. The sound is different from a strat. Not better or worse, but different. The neck is full sounding, but not as nasal as a strat. The middle is as full as the neck but with less bass and I enjoy playing strumming sections on it. Bridge still needs some beefing up from the pedals, but the treble is more controlled than on the strat. Overall I like the guitar very much. My strat is now in Eb and the SS is my go to E standard guitar. Both get enough love. And I find it funny how the people in internet just randomly hate a guitar because of the name on a headstock. Competition is good, monopoly is bad.
Lovely! I’ve never played one but im really interested in playing one , i did have a prs before but sold it after owning it for 10yrs , there’s still a few things like the tuners that put me off but maybe seeing it in person might change that
Wow, I feel like your vids were made for me! Quick question if you don’t mind…I am looking to get the SE model, but noticed the nut width is 41.2mm. Seems rather small to me and curious to know if you noticed any difference in string space when you’d played the SE. just don’t want to feel “bunched up” if ya know what I mean. Best of luck w your channel. I know there are a lot of others in the niche I’m in who will love your vids. Take care
Thank you for the kind words. I didn’t notice any issues with string spacing on the SE. it plays great. From what I recall the neck is different from the USA model, it feels more like a fender Strat. The neck is less “round” on the SE. personal preference I guess. Good luck!
3699.00 CAD + Taxes $4,179.87 CAD for a guitar with a gig bag ....... pathetic . C'mon PRS do better , anyone spending that amount of money on an artists signature series guitar deserves a Hard shell case at the very least.
Great video bro. I agree the Silver Sky is probably the best feeling guitar I’ve ever played. How long have you been playing for ? Have you had lessons ? Keep up the good work.
In my opinion the SE is actually better than the American. I played them both back to back in the store an found that I prefered the SE. It had the best neck, played just as well and sounded slightly different, but not worse. More like two slightly different but equally good sounding flavours. So needless to say, I bought the SE version and have no regrets.
100% I loved my Gibson Les Paul and I loved my USA Strat but uh... My PRS SE Silver Sky is phenominal and I dont feel as though I have to be careful with it so much, like the heavy azZ LP and the Fender with the same station wagon colors etc... Ok Venting 😂 Upgraded the tuners and it just rocks... I adore my PRS; its a real players guitar!
short answer- if you spend 5k on a strat, you got screwed. I had a custom strat (96 cunnetto mary kay blonde strat) that i sold for 5k and the guitar was ruined by the factory. It had small frets and they reliced the maple fretboard in a way that made it really difficult to bend strings. I tried to bend the top three strings and I thought I was having a stroke. I was bending them like always and the pitch wasn't changing. the raw maple fretboard was gripping my finger. I set it down and picked up my les paul and bent the strings like normal and that's how I realized the fretboard just wasn't conducive to bending strings. And the guitar had the shittiest finish I've ever seen on a guitar. It looked like it was painted with a roller. Then I bought a 70's japanese strat for 600 that blew it away in every respect.

I must of got lucky with my Custom Shop 63' HSS Strat. its an absolute animal. No doubt that silver sky sounds great and that red is beautiful

I agree. The middle is my favorite pickup on this guitar.
The people want to see the Strat! Bust it out!
I'll make a video today!

@@rinkydinky-ob9pe that’s the one thing it lacks is cool factor. Fender makes better looking guitars. But I still love the PRs!

Silver sky se is goat . Greatest of all time
@@cwillis thanks so much
This video should be called "Why I play the $4000 dollar PRS Silver Sky over my $5000 dollar Fender custom shop"
It's crazy to think that the retail is so high now. I think I paid no more than $1800-$2000 for my SS's.

Totally agree!@@haus05
Trudeau is responsible for those taxes. Not prs.
@@gonzopewpewwe have always had high taxes , since the days of Brian Mulroney .

Thanks for the comment! I've been playing for around 6 years. I took a couple lessons when I started, but I mainly learned through UA-cam.

Chad what the hell do you do for a living? Love watching your videos, feels like a friend sending you a video explaining things to you.
Thanks for the comment! That is a great compliment. I own an online business. If you have any video requests I will make them. Thanks again!
Was the rig rundown ever made? I can't find the vid on your profile.
Will get that done next weekend
i love this
Lol, don’t want to “role play” SRV…..just John Mayer.

Sounds like a strat to me
I think that's the point. Save a few thousand from a custom-shop.
Unless you need the "vintage" paint job.
@@monochromedout lol you dont need a fender custom shop guitar or a $2k signature prs to sound like a strat. That is kind of the point of strats...
cool story
@@stratmatt22
It,s just another strat copy.Nothing special about it
Nobody cares about ur useless opinion. The fact is the SS is one of the best guitars arround.
Nothing special about any of them. Just bits of wood, metal and wire. The user either has it or they don’t.
You Are the perfect example of opinions are like assholes..
Plenty special about it. Silver Sky’s f****** rip.
Said by someone who doesn’t have one or knows how great it stacks up against the genuine article of vintage fender.
Ah, now the “experts “ and their classless comments about something they don’t know much about.
