Hey hated one . A few questions if you may . 1)Why normal Firefox isn't good for Android but does the job on desktop. Both support all the extensions. 2)Using a Netguard to block access to apps isn't optimal. Isn't there any alternative ? It takes your ONLY slot of a VPN and doesn't give you actually firewall capabilities . First no VPN. Second I can't use an app like blockada (uses vpn). Also no actually firewall . My suggestion is greenfy or something similar for deactivating any app you don't use and save your VPN slot.
Normal Firefox is fine. You can configure it the same way as the desktop version and use the same addons. It just isn't available on F-Droid. Why is not NetGuard optimal? I would say that between a VPN, a system-wide adblocker, and an app firewall, I would always go for the firewall. By blocking Internet you block ads too. And you can configure your DNS to an encrypted DNS provider that also blocks ads on a DNS level. So that takes care of the ads. Blocking network access is way more essential than just blocking ads. And using a VPN on a phone gives you no privacy benefit. If you want to hide your traffic, use Tor Browser. Or if you want to use all of the apps at the same time, root your phone. That solves the problem of having only one VPN slot.

If you have 1 youtube account in brave running and another youtube account in firefox running on the same PC, does google know its the same user based on IP or other ways?
Yes, they're seeing the same IP - technically you could be two people on separate devices that (always) share a wifi, but I wouldn't expect that to matter a lot. You can let them see different IPs by running one through Tor or a proxy. Then there is device fingerprinting. Not sure how reliable it is across browsers, but stuff like which OS you have & which browser versions it supplies (type _user agent_ into Duckduckgo), settings, hardware speed, monitor size (via the browser window size) etc. can narrow down & distinguish between users with high probability. Compartmentalizing the browsers on a lower level - either OS (e.g. with Qubes), or hardware (different devices) - might help a bit more against this. Even more crafty is user profiling, which uses stylometry or even mouse movement & typing patterns/speed. (Consider that you will never give input in both windows at the same time, while this would be bound to happen if the activity actually came from two independent people.) Simply which videos you watch or scroll past can also leak information. So can at which times you're using the service at all, even if you don't use them at the same time. TL;DR: Opsec is hard, and requires planning & discipline, before you even register an account. The bit of compartmentalization you have is a start, though; and before you bother with more, you'd need a fresh account anyway.
@@milhousevanhouten3796 Maybe I should have clarified that I was talking about how you _could_ be identified; I'm not saying Google or other trackers employ every one of these more advanced profiling techniques. Cookie tracking is a much easier route, so blocking that (e.g. by separate browser sessions) might already be enough. It really depends on your threat model - why you want to keep those identities separate, how you use each of them, and how bad it would be if Google found out they belong to the same person.
My version isn't working anymore. version: 1.3.1 Says all updates blocked by wi-fi/data settings. I changed the app settings and still no dice. Disabled my VPN... Still no updates. Not sure how I broke it.

@@TheHatedOne thanks for your reply.
If is possible to use more than one VPN with root then I guess that will do.
I've executed the F-Droid.apk with pureapk authentication process but the apk from the F-Droid site does not pass. I've also tried to authenticate it with the PGP signature, but I can't find F-Droid's public key. Has anybody else had this issue?
May i ask is brave browser a good browser? DDG browser or Brave ? Thanks
U can use ddg in brave. Ddg is a search engine n brave is a browser. U cant compare them.
@@ThinCar thanks for the reply i appreciate it. In PC i can do that no questions ask and your right its a good combo. The problem is what is recommended browser for Android since both DDG and Brave have a reputable browser app in Android thanks friend :)
I'd like to share the list of F-Droid apps I used on my phone:
Open Camera
Feeder
Fennec F-Droid
Material Files Manager
Markor Notes
MuPDF
Music Player GO
NewPipe
Slide Reddit
VLC
Also I listen to KEXP in place of Spotify since KEXP is a publicly funded radio station and I also have a free and open-source implementation of the Yamaha DX7, SynprezFM.
I do still have a few non-free apps like Facebook though since a majority of my peers declined to use Telegram or Signal, or else I would completely delete non-free apps.
besides just playing music offline, creating playlists, how do you use your VLC app? I use VLC on my Linux PC, but rarely use all of the functionality - and I prefer the sound quality of mpv anyway.
@@genkiferal7178 I rarely use all of its functionality as well but on the PC app I use the video effects function quite often
What is your view on VPNs ? Any good ones?
Private Internet Access is pretty good.
VPNs don't do much for your average citizen. change my mind.
I would de-google my phone but damn. i need Discord, Steam, my bank app, twitch, Cenguage and Canvas for school, and Minecraft mobile i already paid for. Im guaranteed to come across SOME situation where i need an app and i cant get it because of some bs "pHiLoSoPhY reeee" Unless there's a real solution, its a nope for me and that sucks. Especially not being able to use my bank app. The desktop Website total ass probably to use to get me to use the app instead 🙄 I also need MS-Teams for work.
I agree. F-Droid is a good free android store. However, I have a question to ask you. What are your thoughts about Aptoide?
Alright I need some help I go to use the app and it gives me and error code when I try look up any app. All I have is a blank screen on all tabs except settings. Sorry I am just trying to get back some privacy.
Thank god, I was lookong for this.
can i use all of this in a smartphone having ubuntu touch OS?
Nope
Whatis your take on installing select apk files from a repo like APKpure? For instance, getting an apk for slack / 1password?
Thank you bro , I will do it now .😎
Dude, you're the best!
WTF!! Disable JavaScript !!?? The first half of the internet needs JavaScript to work properly, the second half won't even work without JavaScript. This is the the fukist thing I've heard ever in this day
Great stuff! Thank you!
@@nibblrrr7124 if thats the case why care about individual browsers, private mode, cookies etc
My version isn't working anymore. version: 1.3.1
Says all updates blocked by wi-fi/data settings. I changed the app settings and still no dice. Disabled my VPN... Still no updates.
Not sure how I broke it.
Please recommend an open-src camera and microphone blocker app
I don't understand, how can I UPDATE all my apps without GPStore? How can I get the updates?
What are the security checks done on the apps. What is risk of malicious coding. I've used F Droid a lot on my GAPP free ROMS.
NEXT STEP: GrapheneOS on a Google Pixel. (cut Google out) Or a PinePhone. (run Linux on your phone). No tracking. No spying.
Hi THO, what are your thoughts on Brave browser I have been using that instead of Google chrome
Me too!
For games that depend on google, what can I do? Thank you!
I have both blokada and netguard installed. Which app do you think is more... lets say useful?
I've never seen those categories and never found it easy to search. I need to look again. Never saw that page you showed. New Pipe and Simple apps are my favorites....and Hacker's keyboard because it has many extra keys
I tried using fdroid but after a couple hours after installing it, it stop showing apps in the categories tab. And then it couldn't find the guardian project repository. Wack!
Is F-Droid installable on a Samsung Galaxy S10? I really want it (and Bromite) on mine.
Now my go to (open) source for Android apps - root not needed. We're also a Microsoft free zone and have been almost exclusively using various Linux distros for the last dozen years or so.
