The choice for me comes down to which company actually has customer service so you don’t have a $2500 250lb paper weight. Predator requires a $650 warranty if you want more than 90 days, but if you live near a Harbor Freight they will give you a new one, once, but you can then renew the warranty. Northern Tool also has real stores for the Powerhorse. If you are lucky, Genmax and Duromax will send you parts for home repair.
Good video & thanks for sharing the information. Yesterday I test ran my Harbor Freight's new Predator 9500 / 7600 watt - 30 amp per leg generator which I had wired into my condo's electric panel. It performed better than I could have hoped for. Prior to this test I hooked up the Mirco-Air Easy Start to my AC compressor which lowered my starting amps from 69 amps to an average of 21 amps! The running amps was also lowered, now averaging only 8.0 amps. I ran the AC at full blast along with 2 refrigerators, all the lights & ceiling fans, a large dehumidifier and was only drawing 15 amps on one leg and 13 amps on the other and this was over a 130 foot length of #8 wire from the generator to my electric panel then another 100 foot of #8 wire to my outside AC compressor! In fact I had the ESC Mode (Electronic Throttle Speed Control) on the generator turned on and it still ran at the lower RPM and never needed to kick itself up to the higher rpm to handle the load. Just amazing!
I just bought a Champion model 201159 generator for home backup power after doing some research. Champion is a well established company, they seem to have a track record of experience. I considered the Predator 9000 watt inverter. But Champion just seemed like a better option. The model I bought has a 50 amp outlet. I'm not an expert, but I don't know why Champion isn't represented here. Is it regional (lack of) exposure? I like the Predator, but it's only a couple years old and it seems like it's a little dated. The generator industry seems like it's changing rapidly with more advance features becoming available. The generator industry is growing fast. Probably mine will be outdated next month. But looks like it's good enough.

Is power horse (northern tools) enough to run entire house with 30 amp cable? Will my both ac units will also work? I hear champion inverters have cine wave which is better! I spoke to a local electrician and he told me to go with kohler or generac….what is better. I am so confused. Please suggest. Thanks
When it comes to these generators you always have to keep in mind what you’re powering and your power usage. Just because I said you can power the entire house doesn’t mean it will power everything at the same time. when we run off back up generators you have to be conscious of that.
Short answer yes. You do not have everything running or on at the same time at your home anyway. Usually during the day you fridge, A/C , a fan. At night the same but a few lights. To cook if you have an electric stove then the stove for 20-35 min. Etc. Now. To be able to run the A/C you will need to add an EasyStart to lower the amount of amps needed to start the compressor. For example my AC starts with 78 amps. With an EasyStart starts with 26amps that is in the range of a 50 amps generator. Then after starts it drops to 14 amps while the AC is running. So in an emergency you have to choose your priorities and any of these generations will work to keep you comfortably during the emergency.

Hello, so as of now the only option to have portable NG inverter generator is to purchase let's say a dual fuel one and convert it to NG, am I correct? The only downside is that a single unit can only power the house via 30amp outlet. In order to get 240V I would need to have two units where both were converted to NG, with that done I would need to split my gas into two flows somewhere. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm trying to find a best solution here. Regular generators non inverter have 12%-20% THD which is a big NO NO for my house. Thank you
Gavin, I'll be watching your videos, am I gonna know what it is or you do a "shout out to Paul" thing in one of the videos 😎 cuz I'm assuming you'll planning on reviewing it. Would that be a generator? Hint hint please 🙏
Great videos Gavin. I'm trying to choose an inverter generator for my home back up via an interlock at my breaker box. I saw a video by a guy with a Predator inverter 8750 who said that he had to disconnect the bonded neutral on the generator to make it a floating neutral because you can't have two grounded neutrals per code. To your knowledge this the case with these generators you tested or is this dated information? Thanks in advance.
All good information, if I were you, I would start by determining exactly what my power needs were then you know exactly what generator will work for you and price.
I’ve got an electrical monitoring system on my home that measures the amount of electricity it uses for a given period of time. I have a 2100 square-foot home heat pump water well water heater is electric everything else is gas just the stove in the oven. You know where Genmax made and is good quality and service and warranty on it. Since you won't pick one. Also 20 hours on Duromax and 14.5 on Genmax, why?
So I want your true opinion of this GEN max 9000 white gas and propane I know it’s not fuel injected it’s carburetor and it doesn’t have Bluetooth but what’s your honest opinion of this generator I get mixed reviews and they’re supposed to be for that specific model, but they mix in a lot of other comments as well for other models but you personally what do you think of the 9000 white and doesn’t deliver and start up every time and run consistently once it’s up and running?

With Gas going up every day and could be around $7 to $10 per gallon soon. Propane is a Must have with these gen units. Propane is still much cheaper than gas; however, their containers/tanks have doubled in price.

These are not whole home if you are running A/C. If your "home" is a RV then yes they are but if you have a actual house you will need more warts and amps to run your "whole home." Good video
Central air conditioners use 1,000 watts per one ton of cooling capacity. For a 2,000 square foot home with standard-height ceilings, you'll need about 3.5 tons of cooling power. This capacity of air conditioner will use about 3,500 watts per hour.

Which generator do you currently have and what inlet box do you have?
Awesome video. Can you do a runtime test? Put 1 gal in Genmax and 1 gal in Predator. In case of emergency runtime is the most important thing!
Thanks that’s a great idea 💡
Hello, I ask myself the same question since the predator gives it a lot of promotion that it lasts 18 hours runtime. I would like to know if it lasts almost the same. Thanks for your content.
Thank you
If you can wait another month, there should be the perfect solution for you coming soon 😉
@Gavin’s Garage subscribed! Thank you Gavin!
Gavin, I'll be watching your videos, am I gonna know what it is or you do a "shout out to Paul" thing in one of the videos 😎 cuz I'm assuming you'll planning on reviewing it. Would that be a generator? Hint hint please 🙏
Can you get the full 18,000 watt on the start of the generator or will it trip out at 50 amps?
Yep you can but for just a minute the generator and circuit breaker won’t handle it for to long plus your wire is only rated for 12500 watts
Which one is tri fuel that can be used to hook to your home gas with a kit?
Check out this one

Great videos Gavin. I'm trying to choose an inverter generator for my home back up via an interlock at my breaker box. I saw a video by a guy with a Predator inverter 8750 who said that he had to disconnect the bonded neutral on the generator to make it a floating neutral because you can't have two grounded neutrals per code. To your knowledge this the case with these generators you tested or is this dated information? Thanks in advance.
All good information, if I were you, I would start by determining exactly what my power needs were then you know exactly what generator will work for you and price.
What are you gonna do about all the noise that’s going to reveal that these generators are at this house?
Every home has a generator these days. Nobody cares about that. I don’t live in the woods plus I’m ready.
Which should I get for a Florida house?
It depends on what your power needs are in a power outage
@@GeneratorReviews a/c, 2 fridges, maybe a tv and Wi-Fi
I’ve got an electrical monitoring system on my home that measures the amount of electricity it uses for a given period of time. I have a 2100 square-foot home heat pump water well water heater is electric everything else is gas just the stove in the oven. I have seen as much is 17,800 Whites at one time, none of these would handle that.
That’s powering everything in the home in a power outage situation. You probably never do that critical loads only
@@GeneratorReviews my critical loads would be: two freezers, one fridge, water well and AC. After all, I’m in South Texas
So what about bonded vs unbonded if I have gfi outlets?
Then you would need a floating neutral inverter generator.
You know where Genmax made and is good quality and service and warranty on it. Since you won't pick one. Also 20 hours on Duromax and 14.5 on Genmax, why?
Genmax is made in China
Question, can more than two inverter generators be paralleled?
Yessir that is possible
So I want your true opinion of this GEN max 9000 white gas and propane I know it’s not fuel injected it’s carburetor and it doesn’t have Bluetooth but what’s your honest opinion of this generator I get mixed reviews and they’re supposed to be for that specific model, but they mix in a lot of other comments as well for other models but you personally what do you think of the 9000 white and doesn’t deliver and start up every time and run consistently once it’s up and running?
Yessir I prefer the Genmax model it has a lot more features than the other models. Forced air cooled, oil filter, 50 amp plug and easily paralleled.
@@GeneratorReviews which model would you go with the 9000 watt or the 7200 W which is lighter and a little easier to get around
Hi
Can we link two i power generators 3500 w and 2500 w together and how we can do that thanks
You can parallel three generators with this kit up to 9k
ua-cam.com/video/VJJX6Nw0NTc/v-deo.html
Does natural gas flow if your neighborhood looses power? What if your whole county is without power?
Natural gas is not guarantee to flow if the whole country loses power you lose that too
@@GeneratorReviews it's almost like you need a back up plan I would like to have a tri fuel and like a lowboy Kubota 11K or 14K diesel I have a 275 gallon tank for heating oil
@@chuckschweitzer491 wow!! that’s a backup plan
I sure that you were saying punk ass! I had to listen a few times... PUMP GAS! LOL Thanks for making my morning!
😅😳👍🏾ohh no!! That’s too funny
Which ones can run on natural gas?
They all can be converted to run a natural gas, but you have to buy the natural gas kit separate the only ones that come from the factory running natural gas is a tri fuel generator
Any word on the ATS from Duromax?
Nope not a word same with the Predator parallel kit
@@GeneratorReviews Can you try again for the Duromax. We are all waiting. Thanx
With Gas going up every day and could be around $7 to $10 per gallon soon. Propane is a Must have with these gen units.
Propane is still much cheaper than gas; however, their containers/tanks have doubled in price.
Great point but in time of disaster and power outages guess we got to do what we Gotta do.
@@GeneratorReviews With Rollin Power Outages , I'll be depending on my DIY home solar power unit with 25k battery storage. this is hooked into my service panel via transfer switch. Good Times!
@@props-model-shop yep I have a similar setup 😊👍🏾
On the Genmax GM9000iED wht does the low idle do ?
They all have the eco mode it matches the engine speed to the load to increase fuel efficiency
Are they ever going to make a trifuel inverter generator?
That would be nice. I don’t know if it has to do with the loss of power you get from natural gas.
How many generators do you need to power a 1500 square ft home?
If you get a 7000 watts 240 V inverter generator. I think that would be perfect for that size home.
What a about a 2800 sq foot home with 5 ton ac unit with 2 fridges and stove led lights wifi and tv.
No Honda 7000i? That is kind of the gold standard for a portable whole house generator
Yessir but I didn’t want to over class it with 9k generators
When will you load test the PowerHorse 7500i???
Load test video coming sooner than you think👌🏾
@@GeneratorReviews heck yea!!!!
But can the first one run all three Rv ACs
Yes
@@GeneratorReviews so my rv has 15k x3 ACs what would be the recommended inverter power that I would need?
Out of all these inverters which one would you recommend for a food truck?
The Genmax gm9000ied with dual fuel and 50a plug or the gas model
Genmax over Honda?
no benefit to run 50 amp vs 30amp connection with a single unit??
Hey Jon
You’re right there’s no benefit unless you have plans on paralleling in the future then you won’t need to purchase a parallel kit.
do these vendors send u these generators? or do you buy them then return them
Both sponsors and purchase
Can they run the whole house plus a 3 ton central unit
Take a look at my channel videos. I’ve done most of the test on a 5ton AC
@@GeneratorReviews thanks brother great content
Have you tried and liked any solar powered Generators?
Yes I reviewed a lot of them.
Thanks for the video I was able to make my decision on purchasing a honda inverter 7000
Awesome thanks for watching and subscribing 👍🏾💯
How about warrantees for each? what you think of Honda eu7000is comparing?
So I have a question Gavin do you think the Honda 7000 would start the 5 ton with the Micro-Air in place?
We’re gonna find out when I make that video I was going to go in order of size
But honestly I just don’t know if it can hold that load for so long
@@GeneratorReviews Did you get the 7000 yet Gavin
@@chuckschweitzer491 yes
@@GeneratorReviews but you have not tested it yet correct?
@@GeneratorReviews is there any that have the 50 amp plug and you get 50 amp off one unit
If they are dual fuel propane and gasoline there is no such thing as tri fuel propane to natural gas is a simple conversion usually an orifice and a spring
These are not whole home if you are running A/C. If your "home" is a RV then yes they are but if you have a actual house you will need more warts and amps to run your "whole home."
Good video
Thanks
Central air conditioners use 1,000 watts per one ton of cooling capacity. For a 2,000 square foot home with standard-height ceilings, you'll need about 3.5 tons of cooling power. This capacity of air conditioner will use about 3,500 watts per hour.
I want one with fuel injection, and propane.
I guess you can buy a Honda and convert it to use propane.

will all 6 parallel together??
I don’t think so…
The inverter generators are very pricey. I bought a champion 10000/8000watt and it puts out 60hz which works fine for the house, just didn’t want to sink a lot of money in a generator when I wanted to expand my solar instead….
Thanks for watching
Being ready and having a plan is the most important step 👍🏾
There are a fair number of inverter generators that arent super quiet (the most expensive option) but these days with us being so dependent on our phones and computers you really need inverter power.
this video shows why just having a 60Hz generator is not the same as having an inverter model

@@BradiKal61 for my electronics I use the Bluetti AC200P 2000wh and 800w of solar. I missed the video of the powerhorse running the RV!!!

Which Gen converts best for natural gas?
Predator 9500 has a kit available online.
I converted my Honda EU7000IS to natural gas using the MSK7000 tri-fuel kit. Works great.
NG has least of btu and propane then gas has the hugest and diesel has the best btu and uses the least amount of fuel .
No honda?
By popular demand It’s coming back
Honestly I was looking at the running watts and I didn’t wanna put it up against this big generator and make it look bad but if you guys want it back just let me know??
Thanks again for another great review ! 👍❤️🙏
Thanks 😊
@@GeneratorReviews so with just one Gemma’s are you saying you do get 50 amp or not what is the parallel stuff I’m not sure what that is
People ask you what one you pick because you have the EXPERIENCE with them. Most people won't. Instead of playing games you should tell us so we can pick one. These could be life saving decisions.
I like the Genmax it’s the brand that offers the most features for the best price. Most of them have the 30 amp plug the Genmax have the 50 amp plug.
Excellent reviews!!!!
No Honda the best of the best! I would choose the Honda 7000 !
I called 3 local electricians to wire in a transfer switch and they all 3 said the predator wont run my house.

I power and the other red one are all the same looking (other than color)
only would ever consider the propane or ng versions. Rest wouldn't ever consider.
Ok well for a first time watcher that was not good….
Why not at least put out info in compact form to make a decision on? Or just read / tell real world results?
Cleanest energy? Energy means nothing If it dips and peaks hard constantly.
Longest run time on propane
Longest on pump gas
Price per hour of use
Actually run a home? What’s that home based on?
Thanks for watching but this was just a line up video. I get in more details when I do the individual test.
wish they made a trifuel version

Don’t waste your money on a predator My 9500 will shut off during the summer after running it for two hours
Genmax all the way 👍
@@redfule Portable generators are like automobiles. You get what you pay for. Buy junk? Get ready for what that may bring you in an emergency. These must be 100% reliable and safe. Cheers.
Very true, Harbor freight generators are garbage
Unless you have a soft start on your central ac, even these beasts won't be able to run them.
Yep! you’re right about that soft start kit are a must have 👍🏾💯
have you looked at the AIVOLT 10000 Watts Dual Fuel Portable Inverter Generator. These are on Amazon and claim to produce 10000 watts peak on gas.

40k to run my sound system

Price is not the most important because you can just go on Google and find a price but knowing what’s available is important.
I don’t put price in my videos because the price changes.
Are they free🤣? What's up with the prices.....
The prices has gone up 33% since I made this video. Every time I mention prices in my videos a couple months the price increases.
I receive complaints saying I said the wrong prices.
So I stop saying prices in my video
I got my predator 9500w for $1800. The price now is $2400.
Sorry it’s easier just go in my description. All the generators are listed you’ll find the current selling price.
