Neither did I! I didn't think it was fake but I thought he was just super playing it up for the camera. I'm happy for the man's success.. seeing how he grew up and that he took care of his family, he really deserved it. I wish I could spend a day with him! - such a fun personality. I hope his sister is doing okay these days after that happened to her.

Definitely! I feel like this is a true thing for all non neurotypical people including me with dyspraxia, on the same spectrum as autism socially and the way I think. We like to be genuine and putting on a mask to try and fit in doesn’t work and only makes you miserable

Antoine sticks out for me because the song that was made out of it, kind of made his story seem like some joke, but this guy was REALLY concerned for the well being of his sister and what happened to her in their own home. If you have younger siblings, it's like 'your job' to protect them. I am so glad they got justice. That is the part I'd always wondered about.

They teased him about it because he was a good sport too. It was embarrassing but I honestly put that on the dentist, I didn't think it was Thomas and Ammars fault, they just went to a random dentist, David also agreed to go. They dropped him back off with a gift but he probably needed to head back anyway. Also they did apologize even though it wasn't truly their fault.

That dentist had a chance to advertise himself to millions of people, and instead was sassy, shared Davids private medical information, caslled him ugly, and basically made people NOT want to go to the dentist. Also waterpiks are not necessary. Good job doc

I get the feeling that once they met him they realized they didn't have much to ask him. He didn't have to deal with fame in the same way the others did and he doesn't get recognized for it, so what is there to ask other than what he's up to at school? To him it's a cool anecdote and that's about it. I agree though that whole interaction was super weird, he was definitely uncomfortable.

I've been following Yes theory for a couple years now and I'm really surprised how you guys let David get treated. From the moment you pulled up and picked him up, to the moment you handed him the gift and drove away. I don't know what all of you discussed off camera but I hope he's doing alright because I'd hate to be treated that way. Yes Theory is better than that in my opinion (not that it matters)

all jokes aside, when i first saw antoine dodson's interview back at the age of like, 12, it was one of my first inspirations to enter the legal world to be an advocate for victims of sexual violence. here i am, 11 years later, about to start my first year of law school in less than 2 weeks... funny how the world works.

Great video but I feel bad for David they just treating him like a meme not a real person he has become. I though they would make up for it with the gift but that just added insult to injury. The dentist is a bit unprofessional with his comments. He could have said them nicely. Besides, David still got a great smile. This video just shows that the kid that went viral before is now a grown up and is acting like a true adult. Kudos to David for handling that uncomfortable situation so well.

I don't think it's the Dentist fault, again this video is heavily edited so we have no idea what was said, maybe there was a huge conversation beforehand that led to the dentist's joke, and to be fair, Yes Theory should have talked more with the 3 people, and asked more current questions about what they want to accomplish in life, how their celebrity status really changed their lives. felt like the interviews were casual which gave them a "let us exploit you for views" vibe

They didn't ask a single question about his life, dismissed his own hopes and dreams to make jokes relating to the video, took him to a spontaneous dentist appointment where the dentist was extremely unprofessional and rude, and bought him a dental tool???
I agree with everything except the last part. I don't think they bought him the waterpik as a suggestion that he needed it, but as a joke.
Great video, was interested in Antoine’s and Adam’s stories. But I felt second-hand embarrassment as the dentist gave David critiques on his oral hygiene. That part shouldn’t have been filmed, but rather discussed later like “We filmed him, but the dentist just gave him legit advice, sorry David”. Also, yes, it was a gift, sure, but c’mon you are Yes Theory, that gift seemed like it would come from Fouseytube or any other ignorant UA-camr playing in to the “dentist” meme. I felt bad for David's interview. I feel like they treated him more as a meme than as a person behind the story. I get that he was a kid when he went viral, but instead of recreating the dentist scene, the interview should of gone into depth about how it impacted his family etc...none of the other interviews tried to recreate the meme. David's interview just didn't sit right with me, sorry
Whilst I agree, there is no real story behind the David after dentist meme besides it just being a funny video. I doubt he got as much fame or money out of his virality as the others
I feel like he's disconnected from his video and making some ridiculous conclusion that it's "drastically changed his life" would be really fake. He probably clarified such a question to Yes Theory when they asked and wasn't comfortable trying to explain that to the world. This way he will stay to the side of attention more so than the other two guys and that seems to be what he wants.

I also feel sorry for how the part with David was handled. It's not okay to show your kid this vulnerable with the world. I already felt bad just watching it. Parents need to be a safe harbour, be emotionally available and co-regulate their child's feelings. Not exploit their kids for clicks and fame.
But then to recreate that scene felt so wrong, especially with the dentist being so rude and shameful. I would never go to see that dentist. This seemed very disrespectful and re-traumatising.
David, you're a great guy and there's so much more to you. You shouldn't be reduced to that scene which was clearly a horrible experience.

They were well within their right to be irritated by it. They were there to do their job and David didn’t seem excited or eager by it and all. Understandably puts a sour taste in their mouth. (As a side note, I do believe taking him to the dentist was horrible and they way they conducted the interview overall was horrible and extremely impersonal)

The other story on Mr. “Hide your kids”…did you hear how he briefly described getting ripped off by entertainment execs with deceptive marketing deals. They couldn’t just cut a genuine deal for a guy from the hood.

This is why, if you ever get into a situation like Antoine, you get an industry consultant as quickly as possible, and you pay them proportionally to what you are paid, so that getting you the best contracts is in their best interest.

Great interviews with Antoine and Tay. Super insightful to see how going viral affected them positively and negatively. Not a fan of whatever that was with David. Isn't treating him like he's just the meme the exact opposite of what this video was for? That didn't sit well with me.

I remember seeing Tay with my mom and dad years ago as a kid. It was an instant family thing with us, and I’ll always remember the happiness that those videos brought to us, I miss both my parents and seeing this warmed my heart! Thanks guys!
I remember thinking back then what an awesome brother Antwoine is that he fought his sister’s attacker and the emotion that he had in the video you can really tell he loves his sister. I always wanted a protector like that.

It's an odd feeling to see how virality affected each one differently. And I'm speechless that Tay Zonday was 25 when he made Chocolate Rain and that he's now almost 40. Dude looked like a teenager in that video, not mid 20s...he looks 25 NOW. Fuck, that one just hit me like a train.

Love how I’ll randomly come across Tay Zonday commenting on all sorts of different UA-cam videos. Seems like a genuine guy being a genuine fan of things. Made me a fan of his.
My husband sent me this link because I was diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum at the age of 32. Suddenly, all the pieces of the puzzle that constituted my life fell into place, and it was amazing! Totally changed my world to have coping mechanisms and understand masking, which explained why social situations had always been so exhausting to me, even though I could pretend I was enjoying the moments at parties and larger gatherings.
Clearly, David didn't want to be filmed or take part in that. Try to imagine that from his perspective, especially the part when the dentist said he was cuter when he was younger. What the hell? Who would want to spend there afternoon at the dentist and be insulted? He's a person, not the meme. Time to turn off the camera nd recgnoize your power as youtubers with so many followers. Not everyone may feel comfortable saying no.
If he didn’t want to be filmed then he would have said so. They flew across the country to meet him, you don’t think he had time to say “no thanks bro” but instead decided to be uncomfortable on camera? That doesn’t make sense. He had plenty of time to change his mind, there is no “not everyone may feel comfortable saying no”. Not to mention you could 100% tell the dentist was cracking jokes and it looked entirely staged. I'm 99% he would've preferred not getting roasted for the whole internet to see but it's harder to say no after it's already been recorded.
