What an amazing talented young man. He is human like everybody else. He had feelings, needed companionship and a strong rock which was his mom. I am so saddened by his death. He will never be forgotten.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think we'd lose our lovely, generous, kind hearted and extremely talented George. Still can't accept that he's gone now. A few weeks older than George, I grew up on his music & followed his life path. I thought of him as a friend, even tho I never got the chance to actually meet him. He was SO grounded & really upfront, not taking any $h!!t. God bless you George, you were taken too soon, but your music will live on in our hearts xxx

Only listening to this interview now, but I cry almost everyday over how much I miss George :( it devastates me to hear about all the projects he had planned which he never got to complete, I hope that his team decides to release some of his work eventually! as a gay person, his message and achievements mean so much more to me than I could even explain. I'm eternally grateful for George's music and the kind hearted, talented, angel he was (and still is somewhere). thank you, George. You have been loved.

Was thrilled to hear he was making a comeback in 2017 and then this heartbreaking news of his death on Christmas Day. He left too soon but I'd forever cherish his memories. He left behind an admirable catalogue for his fans. Be at peace George, you will always be loved, in our minds and in our hearts.

god willing, it didn't happen in the us. He did the olympics. He went on to finish europe but cancelled in australia, due to anxiety. that was last times he performed. He did it all, better than anyone else. He sang with Pavarotti, Paris symphony, Freddie, Aretha, etc. He did so many charity concerts, mandela, africa, live aid, hope, elizabeth taylor, rio rock, freddie tribute. He did China, faith tour, cover to cover, symphonica, greatest, 25 years. He worked so hard and so long. He gave everything and more. He was a trailblazer in so many areas. How do we all come to grips with this? There is nothing more to say but I cry.

Great to hear him so open and free.....but hearing him talk about Fadi for the first time as far as I've found, to know - at least in 2012 - that he was in love, to hear him talk about the loss of MJ and Whitney and the impact, to hear that he was planning to be in the states in 2013, that he had 'big plans'.....it just breaks my heart so much more than it was already broken. So many lost possibilities..... So much wonder of what all went on in the years between this interview and last December..... Makes me hope even more that he never knew his end was at hand as he passed......

Wow great listen, how ironic was some of this. He had big big plans, to surprise his fans, he was working on great things to come. little did he know that it would be his death. Total shock and such a tragedy. We have all missed out on hIs continued talent. Hope we still get to see his documentary and new songs.

      Phil Marriott
George also makes reference to Whitney H and Michael Jackson when discussing White Light. Are we to assume that's who the beginning part of the song is about?? So glad I found this podcast on UA-cam. You did a great job with this interview!! Luv u Phil!

Sorry my comment got cut off. Meant to ask, George makes reference to Whitney and Michael Jackson, when discussing this song with you. Are we to assume this song is partly about their tragic early demise????

That is incorrect, the documentary has been done. George was putting the finishing touches on it when he passed away. It will be released as planned.

That interview was back in 2012. He also had planned to tour Australia again, and maybe the states. That never happened. Whether he was alive or not, a lot of his plans fell apart. Go watch his documentary called A Different Story. You will learn a lot about him. He battled a lot of depression. How, his last documentary is still supposed to be released this year.

I love how Phil came across. He was obviously thrilled to talk to GM. And GM was, as always, such a humble, honest, down-to-earth man. Love his speaking voice. Can listen to him talk all day. And I do listen to his music or his interviews everyday. Especially when the reality of today's politics get to be too depressing, GM's voice takes me away to a better place.

Hello Phil, how great to hear from you. Thank you for taking the time to respond. I have listened to your interview several times since GM passed away, and each time, I am so moved by how happy you sounded, and that your interview covered what we love most, his music and creation ... and not about his personal life. I have to admit ... I am so envious you got to spend time with GM and to speak to him, but very happy for you. And for us to have the interview to enjoy!

George Michael was a great musician and artist and as such he will forever be missed. I believe that, when it comes to his private life, we should less look into. He was no model as a gay man, but he will always be a model and an inspiration for the up-coming musicians. Lets remember him as a great artist and forget about his human errors.

My favorite all time star ever. I think when your in the mood there is no other music that can convey a feeling or that feeling you get when listening to him. Exspecially in florida or driving to the keys or somewhere warm near the ocean. My favorite artist he has the best voice and the power behind the voice is like theres so much more to spare and its like unexaustible and he sounds like he can just get the feeling across with his voice you can just feel what hes feeling. To me thats what music is its a feeling and his voice is the best. I have yet to hear someone better other than maybe a few songs by barbara striesand George Michael is the best voice and pop song singer that you can have.
