I don't know if we are allowed to collect it. Rumors is you can get a ticket for collecting it. I just make sure all my water goes into my garden. Never had to water it since I put in 6 in of mulch.
@@craigwall6071 Of course, too much rain can be harmful. Just a few years ago in my local area (Montecito CA) we had major mudslides, with devastating impacts, but the drought also had major devastating impacts as well. It is good to see that the flood warnings/evacuation systems have improved so we hopefully won't see what I did on the morning of 1/09/18.

The runoffs should be diverted to the central Valley and farms. The people running the state should think of ways to divert water to the drought stricken CA.
Uhhh that runoff is going either into the ocean or lakes/reservoirs. I don't think the people will approve for a lot of smaller canals that connect the canal/aqueduct that goes to central CA. Like I get it but the amount of infrastructure to connect the runoff to the main central valley will cost a lot and the power needed to push the runoff will also need to be alot too.
Jeez! Must be farmers. It's either to dry or to wet. Complaining about the drought and how the lakes are drying up, and now complaining about all the water.
Storm 2 is nothing compared to Storm 3 on Friday and Saturday. Significant drought improvement is possible. We need to keep storms going through May or even June. 1998 was an example when winter continued through June. May 1998 was more like San Francisco in terms of how cold temperatures were in Sacramento.
They need the rain it will help restore the Rivers that have provided Life Support to California and Las Vegas for decades since they don't have a natural water source they have always had to take it from another state.
One week after a drought the annual floodplain review in the news monthly weekly daily. A veraging and summation of areas that should not have been built on by man.! Greed and avarice have taken hold in California for decades.
With a decade of steady drought, I can pretty much assume nothing by state or water management has developed any diversion and or additional step retention structures has been built when everything was dry and accessible….so it will ground shed right into ocean outfalls.
I'm seeing how the state of California is letting water go out of Dams and Reservoirs as of yesterday to make more room for the snow pack, doesn't make any sense at all they want to keep us in this drought to be dependent on the politicians who created the problem and now they have a solution by implementing more cutbacks, rules and regulations on the tax cattle, what could possibly go wrong?

For all the people who think that Ca. does not do a good job on flood control and water retention watch this guys videos, blancolirio Ca. Drought update 2022.
Nope they are not trying to retain all the water that has fallen, Sacramento is letting water out of their dams and reservoirs and let it flow to the ocean for future snow melt, f****** unbelievable, these are the idiots we have in charge of the state

With the water crisis in Cali, people should collect the rain water. No brainer!
Its illegal!! All who collect rain water will go to federal prison!!
Snow pack and reservoirs are our collection devises.
I don't know if we are allowed to collect it. Rumors is you can get a ticket for collecting it. I just make sure all my water goes into my garden. Never had to water it since I put in 6 in of mulch.
Man made crisis won't allow you to collect water. Ruling guys want you to suffer
1st it California not Cali and 2nd your perception of scale is off. Households use 1000's of gallons per month on average.
Be happy it’s raining and be alert. Last I recall they were talking major drought in the state.
😳
Speaking for all Native Californians, we would all rather see excessive rain/flooding instead of drought.
Do encourage you to be mindful of Californias many tragic floods.
Yes !!
I thought this is a good thing?!

It is a good thing but allowing the excess to go to waste instead of trying to save or divert to needy drought stricken area for future use.

Haha! Just like that huh? Sure, we can just tip the mountains in the right direction.
Northern California water should stay in Northern California.
May the New Year remove all sorrows and bring happiness and prosperity to all.
Hallelujah! This will fill reservoirs!
Unfortunately not much. Very many more major storms are needed. Like many years worth.
Excellent opportunity for increasing reservoir storage and groundwater re-charging.
Just remember, in a few weeks we’ll hear about a water shortage in the west.
We're still in a drought. See the reservoir levels.
@@LoanwordEggcorn Lakes are almost half height or below. We need way more water. People need to stop complaining about the rain.

Same setup as last year. lots in December, Dry with sublimation in Jan and Feb and March.
Not at all. January looks to be crazy wet.
Oh I hope it won’t be like last year. Come on rain🙏

In the '70s and '80s, we get a descent amount of rain for weeks. Now, we are lucky to get a day or two of non-stop rain.
For 20 years I lived in Grass Valley. 52 inches of rain a year, some years more, some years less. Always sopping wet.
Good. California needs water.
Lots of water. 💦
Keep raining PLEASE
Cali needs the water
No worries people, it won't last long and fire is next. 🔥
Fire then land slides then rebuild and repeat lol
Also the green glue they use for erosion control is flammable! The stuff you see sprayed on the hill sides
Something they don’t tell people
We should be happy for all this rain! Let’s fill those reservoirs
The entire San Joaquin valley was under water in the flood of 1861-62. It could happen again!
Whine when there is no water, whine when they get water , get your infrastructure sorted and stop whingeing .
