    Kwaku is the name they give to man that are born on wednesday in Ghana (I think). The slavery in Suriname was ended on wednesday 1st of july in 1863. In Surinam we also have a statue of a man called kwaku that was made because of the ending of slavery on wednesday. So because of the ending of the slavery in Surinam on a wednesday the festival is called kwaku. I never knew there where so much Surinamese people in Ghana. Thats nice to see. ( I am from Surinam)

    Looks like Micah was getting some kind of wintie while playing the drums. Lol. Sophie is also good at filming, now you have an assistant.
    Good to see that everyone is aware by now. Loved this kwaku festival. Looked like Dubai compared to the other one you mentioned.

    Suriname was present. Just saw the Flag. Nice. The 1st flag was Suriname. 2nd was The NL Antilles.
    The group/lady who sang and danced is from the "marron" (runnaway slaves) culture from Suriname

    Is this Accra or Kumasi? Suriname has very strong ties to Ghana in terms of cultural relations. They even have their own version of Akom. I researched about them some years ago.

    Nice to see you both and your lovely kids in Ghana. My wife and I are from Suriname, living in The Netherlands (for about 50 years) and our wish to visit Ghana became reality three years ago. Although we've had just 12 days stay( too short), it was a wonderful time. Now in Dutch:gefliciteerd met jullie Vlog, zeer interessant en informatief ga zo voort. Weet je waar ik wel benieuwd naar ben is het volgende: bij ons bezoek aan Ghana werd ons toen anti-malaria tabletten geadviseerd. Hebben dat gedaan, maar was wel een heel dure 'grap', mede daarom hebben wij toen slechts 12 dagen verblijf geboekt. Zouden veel duurder uit zijn met aanschaf malaria tabletten voor 2 personen voor langer verblijf. Kun je die tabletten goedkoper krijgen ergens in Nederland of in Ghana en/of is het sowieso ook noodzakelijk in stedelijke gebieden als Accra, Kumasi of niet? Willen Accra nog eens bezoeken, maar dan voor langere tijd. From Rijswijk with love to you all !!

    • @AnnaAcheampong
      @AnnaAcheampong  4 роки тому

      Hoi lieve mensen. Ik heb het idee dat de malaria gebruikt wordt om het reizen naar afrika enigsins tegen te gaan. Wij hebben de medicijnen voor een jaar meegekregen 😳. Maar dit is een veel te zwaar medicijn voor zo lang en idd erg duur ! Wij zijn hier nu ruim 9 maanden en hebben nog geen 1x malaria gehad. Ook zijn we na een maand gestopt met de medicatie. Iedere apotheek verkoopt makkelijke home testjes die je binnen 20 min aangeven of je malaria hebt. Dan krijg je medicatie en moet je uitzieken. Dus naar onze mening is het helemaal niet nodig. Gewoon goed op je gezondheid letten en bij koorts een test halen.
      Boek volgende keer maar lekker langer Ghana is heel mooi.
      Succes 🍀

    Kelvin and Anna am sure you would agree with me Accra is wild and the best because there’s a lot happening there. I prefer using our own African names than these non African ones.

Deep down, they have accepted being dutch and they are not opening themselves to their Ghanaian sides. I'm sure they think the people are backwards or behind and or think they owe them accommodations more than the other way around.
      I cannot see how no one else can see this. It's highly offensive and disrespectful.

    • @malikleighesq.forwatsonlei8695
      @malikleighesq.forwatsonlei8695 5 років тому +1

      @@chrisony9341 are THESE Dutch people black? ( I think that's what you meant) their skin colour is. However, just because you look a certain way doesnt mean you have or really want to have a connection to Africa. You shouldnt get a pass SIMPLY because you are a black person. That's why we are so disjointed. These folks want to come to africa, cool. But they want their lives to remain dutch. They dont want to live Ghanaian or African, they fetishize the idea of being african, by being IN africa, but want the modernities of the west. Want their kids in British colonial curriculum schools? Wtf kind of selloutism is that? "We met a bunch of Dutch/surinamese people..." most everything, if you all listen, associated with Ghanaian people is negative with her.
      Going to Africa isnt enough. She has to break her Europeanism, or JUST BE WITH GHANAIAN PEOPLE, not just watch them perform. They want to pass really badly, but sorry, they are not there mentally. And yall should be observant enough to see it.
