Sorry it's been a while since I've been back on your channel. I've definitely missed it. Awesome to see you kids helping you out in the lawn. I hope all is well, Tim!
So, as for dethatching a lawn cost wise I use a groundskeeper II and it does a great job. Got it two years ago and for the price it has paid for itself in the first season.
Great content as usual Tim! Would love to post my stripes but Facebook is evil 🤣 see you next week!
Great information as usual Tim! 👊
2:06 my lawn looks exactly the same right now and I just took it down from 2” this summer to 1”. Man it’s crazy how much grass is taken off even just dropping down an inch I can’t believe how this the canopy is at that height! My back yard is behaving totally different this year though I was reel mowing at 1/2” until July when I kept it at 1.5 and it’s looking way better believe it or not. I think the grass is just used to going back down low whereas my front lawn had a ton of scalping and looks like crap. Just dethatched and now it’s time for the fall nitrogen blitz!
Do you still have the Seedsuperstore tall fescue lawn ? How about a full blown grass seed comparison, maybe S.S.S. ss1000, vs Black Beauty tall fescue, vs Scott's or whatever? It would be nice to know, is expensive seed worth the extra money, does it hold up better to disease and heat stress, etc.. ?
Are you planning to aerate and overseed? Also do you ever spot rake those spots without grass to stand up the long grass laying in dead spot? I sometimes do that right before a mow and it seems to help recovery and the lawn looks more uniform. I have TTTF though, maybe KBG is different.
How do you like the Echo RB 60. Recently received one after watching Alan Haynes thinking its wide spray claims would help spread my yard easier and faster.
Great info Grass Daddy. I really don’t mind the music in the background, but hey to each their own.
Show us how to do patterns
Appreciate the content I’m sure folks learned a lot. One things folks might want to reconsider is filling the spreader on the lawn is not a best practice. The reason most choose otherwise is in case a bag breaks or spills; in those cases you will be left with a burn spot or at a minimum excessive growth.
Yeah that's a good point. I just have a small driveway and cluttered garage so for the video I do it on the grass as it's a better background
You want to come out to California and help me make my lawn look that good?
Love the music! It’s like conners mustache, LCN “throw’r down” Lawn care whispers “ that’s what she said”
I’m having a in ground sprinkler system installed in in the next 4 and half weeks. My sprinkler line will be pulled not trenched. Do you think I should wait to renovate until spring?
Well that's a tough call. Usually the damage is minimal but with irrigation it's easier to do the reno
I lowered my height from 3-2.5 for aerate and overseed didn't like the look so yellow looking let it go for 2 weeks mowed it @3.5" looks much greener but was told not to put any thing on it till about a week before Halloween wanted to get your thoughts on that also is granular better for winterization than liquid
I'll fertilize heavily until it's nearing first frost and then I'll stop until it stops growing. A week after it stops I'll do my winterize app. Halloween is just a date but we all have different weather each year. I personally prefer granules
@@GrassDaddy great I'll fertilize after my next mow with a bio stim probably a 16-24-2 then again around Halloween and I'll buy a 46-0-0 for my winterizer sound good?
S W you should use the 46-0-0 now, until the grass stops growing. 0.25-0.5lbs N/ week
@@BrodeyDoverosx l have some liquid fert that has high N I'll give that a try
Cool video! I have the majority of the lawn, bermuda, and the shady areas cool season grass. This helps alot! How is your bout with lime disease going? Are you over it now?
👌🏽
Hi
If I over seed can I spoon feed urea?
Grass Daddy thanks! Do I need to wait till the baby grass is tall Or a certain length of time? I don’t want to burn my little grass babies
@@Jeff-ik3hn I would wait till it's grown and needed to be mowed a few times
I'm not sure dethatching is worth it, most of the time, it tears the heck out of your good grass.
I appreciate your enthusiasm... but gotta be honest... your lawn is definitely a work in progress... I think you are being too technical on most things and your lawn is suffering because of it. Nevertheless I will subscribe to watch your progress.
You mention obnoxious cars but entire video has annoying background music. It would be better without that music.
Each time I watch your videos I have my fingers crossed you remove the music so we can hear you better. Each time I am disappointed.
I dethatched with a Sun Joe two weeks ago. The front yard is kind of recovering as I’ve been watering it, the back I don’t water so it’s not recovered at all. Of course we have also had near zero rain. I think both front and back would look better right this second if I had not dethatched. I’ve been killing a lot of weeds in the back yard though, and I have to say that running the dethatcher over a bunch of dead and dying plantains, wild strawberry etc was super satisfying.
