‘Davido Abandoned Imade, Left Her School Fees Unpaid’ - Sophia Momodu Responds To Singer’s Lawsuit

- Sophia Momodu, the first baby mama of Nigerian musician Davido has denied all the reports that she failed to give the singer access to their 9-year-old daughter, Imade. Davido and Sophia Momodu have been in a legal battle over custody arrangements. The dispute came to light on June 22, 2024, when Davido filed a suit seeking custody of the child. In response, Sophia accused Davido of abandoning Imade for the past two years. She states that the artist has not seen their daughter since July 2022, despite her never denying him access. She claimed that Davido’s absence has left Imade distressed and questioning her father’s lack of contact.
A statement circulating online stated that Sophia had “solely shouldered” responsibility for their daughter for the last two years while Davido posts Imade’s pictures on social media to “falsely portray himself as a supportive and active father.” The statement reads, “David has not seen their daughter since 2022 by his own choice. Sophia has never denied him the opportunity to see his daughter. He has not reached out on special occasions such as her birthday or Christmas for the past two years, which has left his daughter distressed and questioning why her father has cut contact with her.”

She’s not interested in him. If she was she would have accepted the house he bought rather than a rented place in the price range she’s comfortable with. If she had accepted the house, he would feel like he can come and go as he pleased whereas if he refuses to pay rent, she can hold it down until he pays.
