The song starts at 200,000,000 million years BC. The dinosaurs died 65 million years ago. The dinosaurchestra has been playing for 135,000,000 years. Thus proving the notion we all know in our hearts that Neil is an ageless god immune to the sands of time.
it honestly doenst really make sense because in the song neil says that they;re going back to 200 million BC but the strike happened in 66 million BC so neil would've had plenty of time
My best friend died yesterday. We've known each other our entire lives, literally from diapers. I stood at his hospital bed the day before he died, trying to find my parting words, and of all things found my mind going to this song. I haven't been able to stop thinking about the two of us sitting on a cabin porch in the summer of 2007, listening to this album while we played cards. We were just about to start high school. We were both in a huge Lemon Demon phase at that point in our lives, we had plans to make fan music videos for dozens of our favorite songs. Those projects never materialized much beyond talk, life carried on, Lemon Demon largely faded to an occasional nostalgia listen. About a month ago I discovered the Needlejuice reissue and listened to the whole album through. It was the first time it had come to mind for me in probably years. The night before he had his accident he mentioned he still had all of the crayons he had gathered to make the Ode to Crayola music video idea we had talked about 15 years earlier. I'm sure in the intervening years there is some song or some artist that he would feel would make a more ideal send-off. But this album coming back into my life at such a serendipitous time, this song especially having been my favorite off the album for all these years, a story about not being able to do anything about the inevitability of death apart from trying to make the best of the time you have left. I'm emotional and over-reading into what is at the end of the day an inherently silly musical project from half a lifetime ago. But that doesn't make the song mean any less to me in this moment. Thank you for making this video, it feels like seeing the completion of my own forgotten projects from long ago.

I feel like I can always hear a ton of Lemon Demon's discography in these songs, for example the "before we have to die in a super-colossal explosion" part at 5:40 reminds me of the melody that Neil would later use for the verses of "Aurora Borealis."
