This can be looked from the opposite direction aswell, for example you capture the point or deliver the payload behind the enemy team and win - its a C9. The enemy didnt contest. So pretty much "Not contesting when you can and should"
During the very first year of pro gaming before OWL was a thing multiple mlg companies/teams played. If I remember correctly, in one match Cloud 9 had a team kill and just had to stay in point but they advanced to basically spawn kill and forgot to keep one player on point and lost the whole match because of it. So they named stepping off the point and loosing when you are clearly dominating the round a c9. Since then it's turn to mean not contesting the point.
