There's always these scenes where they're in the future and there's a murder investigation, and we know a student boy dies in the future and there's bondage stuff involved, and I kind of fear that this is the story of Shokun getting dragged into bondage lifestyle and then accidentally killed or something. We know there will definitely be a dead body, and the teacher kept telling the class the dead boy deserved it for being a pervert, which made me mad to hear. Now that I've realized those scenes are in the future while the bulk of the scenes are from the past before the death, I worry about poor Shokun.

I'm kind of saddened by the amount of comments that don't seem to understand what Matteo is doing, and say he's just as bad as Ken.
Yeah, he's very heavy handed and forceful in his methods to get Shogun to play along (blackmail is bad, but teenagers are dumb and a lot dont really think it is), but he's obviously trying to teach Shogun to be more comfortable and empowered in his own skin.
Simply put, Ken and Matteo use similar-ish methods, but entirely different intentions behind said actions. Ken wanted to break Shogun down, Matteo is trying to build him back up the best way he knows how.

I acknowledge wanting to be understanding of Matteo's attempt to pursue Shogun. But I think one must not allow one's intentions to dismiss their actions. Regardless of Matteo's intent he blackmailed to out Shogun and forced him into a relationship and to perform acts he wasn't comfortable with.
@Jorge Vazquez I never said he didn't do wrong things. I never dismissed his actions due to the intentions. My whole point was just that intentions do matter. And it was in response to the people saying that he and Ken are, to paraphrase, "just as bad as the other." Like I said, the actions are similar, but the intentions opposite, therefore it would be incorrect to say so. Neither have behaved "correctly" or "well", but they are not the same level of "bad".

Ok, after reading these comments I have to rant a bit!
What does it mean for a relationship to be "toxic"? This word gets thrown around a lot, but it doesn't just mean "bad" or breaking a particular rule. Something is toxic when it slowly damages you over time, in ways you might not even notice.
Ken and Shogun's relationship was toxic because they wanted different things, and it resulted in hurt feelings over and over for Shogun. That part's not anyone's 'fault', though the way Ken denied even friendship with Shogun was unnecessarily hurtful and his attempts to push physical intimacy after Shogun said no multiple times is also not ok. But staying in that relationship would have eroded Shogun's self esteem, and eaten at Ken too because of his fear of exposure (therefore: toxic). Not every relationship in this scenario (one person wants to be out while the other wants to stay closeted) has to be toxic. If partners are able to talk to one another, support one another with what they're feeling, and come to an agreement about timelines and how to interact in public that makes both people comfortable, then that can be just fine.
This new agreement with Matteo is, on the surface, both problematic (because It's coerced) and at the same time positive, because it's building up Shogun's self-esteem and confidence again. But, even if there are good intentions and positive outcomes, the fact that this relationship is built on coercion is still toxic. The core message in that situation is: you are only valuable as a commodity, not as an autonomous person with likes and dislikes are to be respected. Even if everything else in their arrangement is great, that underlying core will eat away at Shogun, and the fact that Shogun was coerced to be there will likely eat away at Matteo too (therefore: toxic). Again, a scenario in which one partner is reluctant to try BDSM and the other is fully versed does not have to be toxic by default, if the experienced partner is able to be patient and the novice feels supported and comfortable to discuss their concerns and try things as they're ready, that would be fine. Similarly, a relationship built on a transaction is not necessarily toxic, if both parties agree to the transactional nature of the relationship, are not coerced into it (ie the person getting payment has other options but chooses to get what they want this way), remain open and honest about where everyone in the relationship's heads are at with regard to whether the relationship has a romantic element, and have clear boundaries about when the transactional relationship ends, that could be totally fine too.
That being said, both of these imperfect scenarios are realistic in the sense that nobody is perfect, relationships are not perfect, and in particular high school first sexual and dating experiences are not perfect. If the high school kids approached these relationships as I'd described the non-toxic version of each to be like, it would be refreshing but difficult to believe (even moreso than a high school student with a fully decked out playroom).
At this point, my hope is that Shogun learns some good lessons (eg about what's out there, what he likes, and what he dislikes) from Matteo who seems to be a relatively safe and trusted peer, and gains some confidence back in himself, and then dumps both Ken and Matteo for someone he's on the same page with. I'd also be happy with either Matteo or Ken working through their faults to improve the relationship they have with Shogun, but it would be difficult to handle that well in a short series.
[Edited to add:] Also just to make this point explicit: a "toxic" relationship does not mean the people in the relationship are bad, evil, unforgivable, or irredeemable. It needs to change or end to stop the damage, and it can be really difficult to change, because it requires everyone in the relationship working together with the same goals, so ending the relationship is usually the fastest/easiest exit route. But it's not the only viable option to get to a healthy relationship.

the blackmail and coercion was a no no but if looking closely, Matteo gave Shokun a way the chance to learn, to choose, decide and get to know himself and what he likes. If i understood Matteo correctly, he sees a relationship as long term and him opening up earlier about who he is and what he likes saves them both the time. it's bad if they'd get to know about such things when they're married.
