The queen mary and normandie were actually rivals. They both tried hard to beat each other in speed and size. Queen Mary beat normandie in both size and speed. And furthermore the queen reputation was secured when a fire broke out in normandie from a light while preparing her for war. And all the ships life jackets were in the room where the fire started so it spread quickly

Indeed, however queen mary came later than normandie so normandie actually held the blue riband for a while before queen Mary had her second voyage

Fun fact about the normandie:in the island of puerto rico a rich man married a french woman who loved the normandie so much, she went on it many times and as a gift from her husban,he made a hotel called the normandie in the late 50s in the capital of the island of puerto rico (san juan) but the special thing about it was that he took inspiration from the ship its self by making the hotel a bit like the normandie (by that i mean the build plans) but when the late 90s came the hotel became ababdon and sits like that till this very day,all tho there where plans to rebuild it in 2020 by fanatics of the hotel, the giverment decided to demolish it but nothing has happend...jet.
    (Sorry for bad spelling)

Now this is a good one. About time you finally reviewed Normandie in Stormworks (Queen Elizabeth is also in it and has been for quite some time, so definitely give her a look too at some point). 😂 Yes, she is without question one of the greatest liners of all time. Many say she is the greatest period. She was launched in 1932 and had her maiden voyage in 1935. She surpassed the Majestic (ex-Bismarck) as the world's largest liner, becoming the first ship to reach the mythical 1,000 foot mark, as well as the first to exceed 70,000 tons. She was also the first and, to this day, the most powerful steam turbo-electric powered ship in the world. At 1,029 feet long, she was just under 10 feet longer than the Queen Mary. Tonnage-wise, the Mary was initially larger at 80,774 tons, when she was launched in 1934. However, the Normandie underwent a refit that saw her receive an enclosed tourist lounge aft, which increased her size from 79,280 tons to 83,423 tons. This enabled her to reclaim the title of world's largest liner, until the Queen Elizabeth came along in 1938. On her maiden voyage she took the Blue Riband from the Rex, reaching New York in 4 days, 3 hours and 2 minutes. She then proceeded to also beat the Bremen and win the eastbound record on her return trip, with a time of 4 days, 3 hours and 25 minutes, becoming the first ship to achieve an average speed of 30 knots. In 1936, the Queen Mary beat the Normandie and took the Blue Riband, after falling short of the French liner's record on her first few crossings. This would see the most intense rivalry between ships as the two battled it out for the Riband. The Normandie would win it back in 1937 after a propeller change partially meant to help reduce vibration issues, but then the Mary beat her for good in 1938, and as we know held the Blue Riband in both directions until the United States destroyed her in 1952. Interior-wise, Normandie was perhaps the grandest of any liner to sail. Her First Class accommodations included huge, royally decorated public rooms, a restaurant larger than the Hall of Mirrors in the Palace of Versailles (and I've been there so I can confirm this :) doors the size of which could be found in a cathedral, and cabins decorated in a way where none were the same, some of which had private promenades. However, Tourist and Cabin Class were more bland in detail, with not nearly as much effort having been put into them, and when compared to First Class, the sheer scale of the interiors' grandeur caused many passengers to feel uncomfortable. This was not the case with the Queen Mary: while her interiors were not on the same level as that of Normandie's, all 3 classes were well and thoughtfully decorated, and were far more comfortable with passengers. This helped her be the most popular ship in the world, even when compared to Normandie's more opulent and modern design, the speed and safety of the United States, Queen Elizabeth's greater size, and many more vessels. Normandie was unfortunately destroyed in World War 2, when the US Army were converting her into a troop ship. Her state-of-the-art firefighting systems were turned off, and one of the many lifejackets left scattered throughout her interior caught fire.

Hey Jesse nice video, I'm glad you liked the ship! To avoid the engines blowing up you need to disable engine overheating. I want to eventually do a proper advanced build of the engines but I've got some other projects in the works right now. I'm not sure why the stern broke off like that, I've never had that happen! I always run it with infinite electricity so the mags never quit working. Anyway thanks for the review and have a good one!
