@@Idontalwaysfeelgood yes but they live it, they are making fun of suburban housepunks and the stupid shit they believe in. I dress punk as fuck but I make fun of how consumerist and stupid the scene is all the time. Punk and Scene are almost polar opposites in my opinion
@@deafanddestructiononthepis3149 I honestly think they mean it more than a lot of people understand. Yes, its jokey but I think it means more. To me at least. To each their own. However, I get being punk and having punks talk shit to you for how you dress. Its a response to that. Like what the fuck bro, I'm fucking punk that's why I dress punk. Anyhow, either way you like to look at it, rock on.
They say we all look the same That's cause we're a fucked up gang They say that it's a 'state of mind' If you don't look the part, don't waste my time PUNKS DRESS PUNK If you want to be a punk, Then you have got to be a punk You say it doesn't matter how you dress Yes it does, you look like shit Don't let them tell you how to dress, Let me tell you how to dress... Wear studs
I went to a "street" punk show after a long time of not going to see that repetitive shit, and this new crop of "punk" kids are sillier than ever. Don't get me wrong, it was always silly, but now the biggest bands, the shit on everyone's jacket, they're all joke bands. Who killed spikey jacket, "ponx" attack, etc. It's like everyone being into Weird Al Yankovic. I wouldn't be surprised if someone ironically had Weird Al on the back of their leather jacket.
if you want to actually dress punk express political and moral beliefs on tshirts and patches etc, embrace the DIY punk idealogy and make your own scrappy clothes, find actual statement fashion pieces and styles that will shock and make you stand out...thats what punk was originally about but studs and mohawks dont work after 30 years
they still work. plenty of conservatives still dispise seeing even mohawks, not so much the like 1 inch ones though. walk into a military bar wearng your vest, and see how many people wanna fight you. lots of people dont even like people wearing ripped jeans... no patches, plain shirt, ripped jeans can still catch a few glares.
punk is about self expression not political expression thats bullshit and exclusive. Fashion doesn't even matter most people who dress punk are compromised motherfuckers who take selfies on fakebook every day. If you wanna dress punk punch whoevers tries to label you right in the middle of thier fuckin face. No mohawk or studs required trust me they'll get it. I dress 'punk' by the way but punk isn't about spikes or politics so the hipster slogans don't mean shit anyway. If you really think you are punk abandon the system and society and try to hack it on the streets otherwise people need to shut up about it because most people into punk are half assed people with no guts to resist social control or reject the system at all. Those are the people on the internet trying to make punk fashionable or political when neither one of those things is anyones business, let alone exclusively punk in the first place. If you listen to punk rock and live according to the truth in your own heart no one can deny it from you. There is nothing punk about wanting to control people or overthrow the system. All politics are fascist there is no getting around that fact. Politics never belonged in any urban subcultures especially not punk.
Don't let them tell you how to dress!
