The fat jokes in the shoe store... These are classic. The lady customers are actually comediennes and they wrote the jokes for Al. These bits were always a bit out of the general plot line of the episodes, but man these rock! Al is ruthless.

The weekly writers meetings for MWC must have been like a zoo, with the inmates running the asylum. For any writer working on the scripts for this show, it must have been the highlight of his / her scriptwriting career.
At the 2:53 point in the video, where he's working with the lady in the blue sweater, what he's spraying on her foot is "WD-40" which is a lubricant used both in homes and in industry. He's lubricating her foot to give the shoe a better chance of sliding on to her foot.

I mostly look on youtube for things that I do myself, so being a body builder and songwriter, those are the things that I mostly look for to watch. But I like Al's show Married with Children so I decided to watch your video and it was cool watching your reaction to it. Plus you have a great accent. It sounds awesome. Thanks.
At 9:16. I think everyone should work for at least six months in one customer service job. They would have much more appreciation for people in those jobs. For example, people can get hangry on a Friday night and be very rude to restaurant staff. I once worked in a call center dealing with technical support for clients. Some could get very rude at staff who were making minimum wage. I have heard some stories from people who sell shoes. Many customers want the cheapest shoe but also want high quality. The problem is a quality supportive shoe that doesn't split after a month's use will cost a lot. The public puts low priority on shoes. In fact they will put off buying a pair of shoes for 2-3 months and spend the money elsewhere. So I understand some of Al Bundy's frustration. Plus he has that stellar family to come home to each day.

This is a great show my favorite. U might try to do scenes or full episodes from the show. It was the ultimate Rebellion against pc culture and the normally saccharine sweet sitcoms of the 80s and before.
Insults and used to be a lot more common in tv shows in the past, I remember in the UK, it was like that with many shows and that slowly changed from the early 90's onwards with all the political correctness thing. It's bad when it's just one way, especially if it's insulting something that the other person has no control or little control over but I think if it's done in light humour and both ways, it's passable and as a Brit, piss taking is a common thing us Brits do with each other all the time, it's just friendly banter but with no venom, it's when the venom comes in and it's very one-sided is where I think it's wrong.

It's a shame someone hasn't put more video compilations up from Married with Children. The ones people react to are the same tired few everyone has seen. To get the full experience, I would start watching the show from season 1. At first, the actors and writers are still fleshing out the characters, so it's a slow start, and you see them hit their stride.
There was a compilation video of “fat lady walked into the shoe store today” jokes. It even included the one with Kelly made one, but it seems to be gone now.
How about the show where Al goes to a specialty shop in Wisconsin looking for some Fancy Figure 327 bras for Peggy.? Or a new neighbor moves in across the street, and she needs help moving her couch in. And BTW, she's a dancer that works near airports and dances on tables for men. Or Bud when he works for the Virgin Hotline. Heck, there were never any shows that were only of 2nd quality. Every show was a blockbuster. The script writers all had to be either 1). geniuses, or 2). escapees from asylums.
I have friends who are hairstylists who have rude customers like these women. They come in with pictures of what they want in a hairstyle but don't have the face shape or hair for it. They book appointments but never show up and don't even call to cancel. Will arrive 45 minutes late on a busy Saturday and still expect to be filled in. Will get their hair and two daughters have a style and just pay the fee but no tip, or a $5 dollar tip for all three. Will threaten to sue if the coloring and style was not exactly as they wanted for a special event like a wedding. Will gasp at the cost of hiring stylists, make-up artists etc. for a bride and her maid of honor and seven bridesmaids. The hairstylist may have to book off the whole Saturday at the shop to accommodate that many people in a wedding party. Women who show no customer loyalty when they move a short distance away and go to another stylist. So they do badmouth poor customers behind their backs. It's a lot of aggravation dealing with them.
