Small tip for monsters high… if you look inside their legs that attach to their hips if it is a gold, black, a white band it’s from 2010-2011. If it’s plastic than it is not a first wave doll. Hopefully this helped!

I once got a 2012 signature draculaura (that’s how it was advertised on ebay) but when I was washing her I noticed she has black elastic hip thingys
@@makaylasaperson it’s probably the original first wave from 2010 because I think that after the second wave they stopped using elastics and started using plastic like they do now

I have original 2010 Draculaura, and semi-recently I restored her back to original condition and it made me really happy :)

Pro tip for anyone who has a frankie doll with yellow hair: use this shampoo called touch of blonde by the brand provoke I used it on my bonita femur and lagoona doll and immediately saw a difference in just one wash however you could just use any shampoo with the words "brightening" or "for blond tones" those work just fine too since they essentially just brighten blond hair

Can you use bleach to do the trick as well or will that just damage them?
@@xandavidson1845 that would likely really damage the dolls other hair color if it’s multicolored (black and white like Frankie) and it may not be safe to use on their hair, even though it’s plastic
@@xandavidson1845just buy purple shampoo/toner shampoo and it’ll get rid of all the yellow hues/cancel out colours and make the hair lighter

The Frankie you have is probably from the 2012 rerelease of the wave 1 ghouls! If the doll has a 2010 face but plastic hip joints its most like from the 2012 repros :)

The 2012 reproductions have a different face, rounded and bigger eyes but who knows
yup! this frankie is one of the first batches from the 2012 original favorites collection. the first batches use the old face while the later ones have the rounder eyes ;3

Frankie is the 2012 Original Favorites Rerelease but the version with the 2010 face. She’s actually pretty rare so thats a lucky find :3. Tbh shes the superior first wave frankie since she has no chipable face most likely and plastic hips haha
Frankie is my absolute fav! I just started collecting these at my age-59! When my twins were little they did not like these so I never bought them even though I liked them a lot. I have about thirty already

I started collecting at 39 and I love these dolls too! Phew and those older ones are expensive 😅 but not the ones at the Thrift stores that can be easily restored! I found a G1 Draculaura and Gigi for less than $5! Love 💗 thrifting and finding dolls I collect.

Beautiful restorations!! I got my first dolls during the initial wave and at the time they were a bit slow to move on the shelves in my area. With my first job at the time I had enough left over after bills & things to grab them 2 at a time so over the course of a month & a half I bought them that way - Frankie & Clawdeen, The 2 pack, and then Draculaura & Lagoona to finish off. I got extra lucky too in that literally the next week or so the wave 1s became impossible to find and during their run ever since they stayed popular in my area lol

I remember going to the toy store in 2010 with my mom and seeing the set that comes with like a bunch of dolls, I asked for it for Christmas and she somehow got it even though we were really poor.. then her religious friend convinced her that monster high dolls are evil because they're themed after monsters and she threw them all in the trash after I had already gotten super attached to them. I was never able to obtain a single monster high doll again and had to watch my friends play with them... 😐

Same I bought 2 OMG dolls today.
My sister and I shared all the original ghouls with elastic legs. Now those elastic legs broke easily with child play. Both lagoona and ghoulia became legless before we got rid of them. I also always pulled Clawdeen’s arm off and made her have a Bethany Hamilton moment. Also I want a basic Cleo so I’m hoping for more reproductions
One way to tell if they are wave one release is to look at how their hips were connected the first wave had elastic bands the second release had plastic hip connections

my sister and i had one of the first gholeas but shes to the point of no return, shes looks like she was in a bad fight and I don't have her anymore, but we also had the 2010, draculaura, frankie, clawdeen, and lagoona, plus a bunch or others when they were released, the only one we couldn't find were the snake head guy, and cleo de nial

So what does one do with a monster high doll with curly hair? I recently got an basic Amineta Nightshade doll, her hair is a curled pretty tangled mess and i am 100% new to doll restoration.
for dolls with really curly hair it’s best to use cold water, hot water most likely will straighten it. also, when your washing the hair, try to keep recurling with your finger and make sure it dries curly. of course if that doesn’t work, there are a bunch of doll videos on how to curl dolls hair :)
