I'm a long haul trucker. Every time I'd roll into Dallas, I'd HAVE to blast this song through my speakers in the Freightliner. It just seems appropriate.
Omg thanks for this one!! You didnt even miss the unique one-time theme with strong violins (the first one in this video). Brilliant theme. Brilliant Jerold Immel. Thanks So much!!!!
Exactly. Mary Crosby deserved opening credits before Lesley, especially considering the key role she played in the show for an entire season and some change.
The first 2 versions shown here are actually the same. The theme was recorded in Stereo for the first time this season, but somehow the networks were distributed with some episodes featuring only the left channel (violines in the foreground) and others only with the right channel (violins in the background). If you mix those versions one to the left and one to the right channel, then you have the stereo version how it was supposed to sound for the entire season, if they had done it right.
Season 13, the first version with different trebles / violins, I think they swapped 1st and 2nd trebles and made the 2nd ones more loud. But it is a great material for writing this theme down in musical notation.
Not really, it's actually the same for the entiere season, but it's supposed to be in Stereo, the violins are suppodes to be more prominent at the left channel and the other version is actually the right channel. If you mix those two together, one at the left, the other at the right, then you have the stereo theme as it was supposed to sound the entire season, they just messed things up. ;)
The final two seasons of the entire "Dallas" series, removed the moving pictures and 3-way split screen in the title sequence from Seasons 13 and 14 as it went to single screen elements. The moving pictures and 3-way split screen were restored and returned in "Dallas Reunion: The Return to Southfork" on November 7, 2004 from a CBS Special Presentation. Rights to "Dallas" now belong to Warner Bros. Television.
Larry admitted that title was just an excuse for him to make more money. He never actually had any added responsibilities. The show also went down in quality immensely once he got that title. In my opinion, it was one of many signs that they weren't taking the show seriously any more. Larry was almost fired in the early years of the show for wanting more money, and by the end of the show he was given a meaningless producer credit solely as an excuse to pay him more. He may have been the show's main draw, but the material they were churning out towards the end was absolute crap. None of them deserved to be making obscene amounts of money at that point.
@@kaijudirector5336 I believe he got Dack Rambo fired because Rambo was gay. So, he had influence in decision-making, as series's stars tend to accrue power as the years rack up. (I don't think he was a nice man, and supposedly hated Donna Reed being Miss Ellie. He got her fired once he could get Bel Geddes to come back.)
@@bfsgman Victoria Principal was So Smart to leave when she did !! Like the episode from season 12 I think.. When you THOUGH there was going to be ANOTHER shooting..But the camera knocks over the plant ..And Bringing back Jessica like that .That was pointless !!!
I want to write that my name is Josh and i want to write that i would like it if Warner Bros. studios would make all 356 episodes from all 14 seasons of DALLAS available to stream on the streaming service MAX in 2024.or in 2025.
Who knew Patrick Duffy and Sasha Mitchell’s characters (Bobby Ewing and Jim Beaumont) would eventually leave the Southfork Ranch as well as the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex following the show’s cancellation, and migrate north towards nearby Milwaukee and became both Frank Lambert and Cody Lambert respectively on a little show called “Step by Step” on an another network called ABC.
Tracey Gates I like this music it's just brilliant its Dallas but I got this on my Dallas Dvds 📀 i think this is the best in the world 🌎 👌 iove from Wales UK 🌍😎😎💻🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🎆
This a good revamp for the titles but unfortunately the show it self had gone off the rails at this stage. No decent plot lines and it was only going to get worse.
If one could ever accuse a television series opening of jumping the shark, it has got to be Dallas Season 13 The strings, the loss of the iconic panning split screen in place of the snare timed actor shots, and the removal of the equally iconic three screen split for the actors was so devastating to the brand. I get wanting to move on with the times (into the 90s by then) but it's a all a step back.
@@kaijudirector5336 I am just saying they tried too hard with this version of the opening...the music is over the top and ruins the brilliant theme tune
@@harryfromwork Have to agree. The theme was at its best during Seasons 4-8 IMO. I don't like how the synth drowns out the square dance bit in the middle, I really find that bit catchy!
It had jumped the shark long ago with the plot lines ie dream season and someone pretending to be Jock so this was a desperate effort to revamp. Unfortunately the plots just got worse.
Moved there in 1979 from Pittsburgh and never looked back! Best move ever!!!
Mark Cuban, is that you⁉️ 😉
This is my favorite tv series

What about Knots Landing ?? XD
@@MrCraigblazeThat first season opening of Knots had amazing strings in the theme as well ! XD
I can’t help wanting George Kennedy to turn to the side and be talking to Nordberg.
The other eye Frank!
It hard to watch his scenes without laughing, just seeing him.
Such an iconic theme song! 😎
Why they would rearrange season 13 just to add Lesley-Anne Down who was only in a handful of episodes is beyond me.
Exactly. Mary Crosby deserved opening credits before Lesley, especially considering the key role she played in the show for an entire season and some change.
My favorite Barbara Bel Geddes ( Miss Ellie) 👍🤎🥰
R.I.P BARBARA BEL GEDDES 🕯🙏
Amazing how few of the original cast were left by the end.
I agree
Such an awesome show and an Iconic theme :)
I like when Ken Kercheval brushes his shoulder off.
Problem what was left of Katherine ?? Xd
Cliffe Barnes was also one of the best Dallas characters. A massive figure in Dallas. God bless you Ken kerchaval.

6:51 - Lesley-Anne Down (Stephanie Rogers) is beautiful.. I don't care what anyone thinks.
Lol I remember my mom switching the channel after seeing this new opening for the first time
There's something oddly satisfying at seeing Larry Hagman having producer credit in these last two seasons.
Larry admitted that title was just an excuse for him to make more money. He never actually had any added responsibilities. The show also went down in quality immensely once he got that title. Hey what was the Code-Man doing on this show?
They used a horrible shot of Sherrie.
Weird without the three screen shots
