Funny you guys did this today. There was the first Metaverse CEO Roundtable Meeting between Decentraland, SAND, FutureVerse, and Wilder Worlds. FutureVerse interoperability technology stems from a fork of substrate

I agree. But It could go both ways. Depending who is looking at it. How I see it, for new generation could be revolutionary like btc, for old generation its just mumbo gumbo.😮
Similar thing happened with Web1 and Web2, it's just a byproduct to the maturing process of any novel consumer-facing technology.
So ethereum isn't the main driver...
