Daniel LYW. Love the way you combine creative and technical tips in your vids. My creativity has gone up a hell of a lot since watching your tutorials.
Thank you that means a lot! I'm glad I'm striking a good balance, sometimes I worry I'm leaning too much on the technical side or other way around, very helpful to get feedback there
Impressive video, Daniel Cohen. Looking forward to your next upload! I smashed the thumbs up button on your content. Keep up the fantastic work. Your technique for blending textures really brings out the character in the design. Have you considered experimenting with different blending modes for the textures to enhance the overall depth?
Thank you Keyser! And yes blend modes are always great to experiment with! I've found I can create more depth moreso with a specific background or texture (like some sort of landscape image for example) than a specific blend mode, but every image could have multiple blend modes that give effective results so I'm all for encouraging experimentation there
this was a good one, loved how much the extra stroke on the threshold cut out made it pop so much with the overall goods. Never seen that toggle on off grid system before on PS, is there just a keyboard shortcut for it? seems quite handy instead of relying on guidelines all the time
Question. Anytime i pull up the grids, its never evenly spaced like it is for you. The edge always seems to cut a square in half. Is there a setting i'm not doing correctly or need to change to make sure the grid actually fits in this size of document?
Just depends on the size of your canvas and the grid size! I use 1080x1350 at 72dpi, and it is a half square at the bottom with 0.5-inch squares. Photoshop -> Settings -> Guides, Grid, and Slices will allow you to change the size/spacing of your grids
Sir, I'm really confused - when I try to learn design principles, I understand what they are and how they work. But when I'm creating my own design, I'm unsure how to implement these principles and which one to use when. Cloud you please make a video how to implement all these principles
This is something that will come easier with time! A big thing is to make sure you keep exposing yourself to other sports designs and inspiration outside of sports too, then try and go into each design with a rough idea of the type of graphic you want to create. A lot of the principles will fall into place from there, and then there'll also be times where you just have to make choices (things like which text treatment/effect to use, what sort of overlays you want at the end), but basically the more you design the more confident you'll become with the choices you need to make. I'm not sure where I'd start really if I were to make a video on how to implement different design principles-what sort of video do you envision? Like walking through examples? Talking at the camera?
This was outstanding. Learned a ton of small tips and love the creativity of the Japanese style for a non Japanese sport.
I appreciate it Tim!
It's crazy how you managed to combine all those textures without it being 'too much', love it! Thanks for the tutorial
Haha I appreciate it, some of them definitely might have been overkill but I was happy with the final result!

Yes grids/guides are the best! On a mac the shortcut is Command + ' (apostrophe)
