I cannot even fathom how difficult it must have been for you to piece all of these seemingly unrelated melody snippets into a cohesive whole. Gave me chills!

i'm not sure it's that complex. Great music mind you, but the complexity of programmation is not what sets it appart.

@@someoneacomputer1905 If you read into the process he went through to create the album, he talks about going through HUNDREDS of iterations of EACH song. Not only that, but each song is created from hundreds of edits within themselves. These edits aren't just automated or created by programming. Majority of it is purposefully edited and placed within the greater composition by hand. He attempts to mimic an AI creating music, but he does so through his own experimentation. Are there more complex pieces of work out there? Yeah, Aphex Twin and some other artists who pioneered 'microtuning' may have some more complex songs. But that doesn't dismiss the fact that this album, or even a single song from it, was an immense amount of work especially when compared to more formulaic songs that just loop without much variation.

@@fettyblap4436 I read the same source as you I guess. I just don't really buy it. The immense complexity. It's does not materialize in sound. There are not many things, and what's there does not seem to be made from many layers. You organically create hundreds of version when you do electronic music with lots of tracks and no academic background : that's how you find solutions (at least that how I manage to come up with decent bits of tracks) ! He also says that some tracks have been made more quickly in a second stage of the creating process. Just a note : if the voice have been made with SynthV (this is what I hear but I might be wrong), then it's pretty straightforward again. I love the album but I don't entirely buy the "six years in the process" thing. I mean... Yeah maybe if you start a counter at the genesis of the first bits of tracks that end up in the album. If you consider the building of an album as an organic process that streches over several years of a cintuous creative process, then the LP itself is a selection. I'm not going anywhere with these comments anyway (as I love the LP), I'm just not buying everything said in ITWs. Sometimes there are overstretches, and that's fine as long as the artist are good ! Just listen the tracks, they are airy. It's not a huge maximal thing with ten layers per patches, big orchestral things, thousands of automation points per sections, ultra realistic articulations, thousand of plugins per tracks... It's some smart Kontakt + some crazy cool early 90s digital synth + x, y, z. And probably in the box for all the writting process (I'd love to see a studio tour of Koreless :) ). Am I dead wrong ? We can at least agree that it's beautiful lol.

@@someoneacomputer1905All good, it's just discussion. We don't need to agree :)
He mentions something about using a process to degrade audio samples so unique that only Skrillex was able to guess what his process was. I think if you listen to Stranger and Joy Squad, there is exactly that complexity that you're saying isn't there. It sounds like several layers of patches, several plugins a SHIT TON of manual editing, with the addition of more subtle yet complex orchestrate moments. Personally, it's been a long time since I've heard something nearly as detailed as those two songs. An album created by a more mainstream electronic musician, such as David Guetta or Calvin Harris for example- likely took less effort to create an entire album than the effort Koreless poured into those two songs alone.
