For 95% of people A7III is more than enough, I’m in that 95% as well but recently upgraded to A7IV
What made you upgrade if the A7III was more than enough for you?
Are you having overheating problem in 4k 60p?
@@TomCaltonfor me the colour science is much better
Same
Haha same here 😂 It’s insane! 🔥
I just got my A7iii and I am now beginning my journey into photography, I always had some knowledge because I used to shoot some stuff with the DSLR my Mom has and sometimes I took the a6400 my GF uses.
I am really hyped to get into astrophotography, I want to do the Milky way one day and some moon shots too, but of course test out everything else that comes to mind.
Thank you!! I got A7iii for mainly photos and don't regret it, AF system is fantastic for events and portraits but not in video, photo QUALITY despite of more megapixels on the 4 is not night and day better on the A7IV, just more resolution 🙌🙌📸
Which one would you recommend for me. I won’t do video much but I love low light photography and indoor events photography
@@dilakshandk77 a7iii, with the price difference get your self a nice fast lense. I got my a7iii + sigma 28-70mm for about 1600$.
@@WrongEnd 👍
@@WrongEnd where did you get it for this price?
@@missy_k Dubai, used stuff here are pretty cheap, my a7iii had only 3k shutter count.
And i got used FE 85mm 1.4 GM for around 900 usd. Open box quality.
A7iii was a ground breaking camera never has there been a Mirrorless camera like it. Now they cripple cameras so you can buy more expensive ones. Overall I’d get the a7iii to shoot RAW photos they are outstanding and dynamic range is amazing also 4k video. Now the a7iv has some features where it’s more of a upgrade camera 4k10bit ext. overall I’d start with the a7iii then later upgrade to the a7iv
Great advice. The price of the A7iii has dropped quite much these days. Or else get one used with good warranty from a reputable store.
@@hans6304 Just bought the A7III 2nd hand with 1k Shutter count don't regret it a single bit (I'm not pro just an average user so its more than enough), I'll upgrade someday when the newer ones becomes cheaper in the future.
For now ill be buying off proper lenses in the mean time.
(Planning to get the A7SIII, A7RIII, or A7IV)
@@LuwiMartin great and wise move. Enjoy your A7iii brother. I'm still loving it even when new ones keep on popping up.
Yep, I traded my Fuji XT4 (great camera btw) in for a a7iii and Sony are truly on a different level, RAW photos I’ve worked with look incredible.
@@Aithis. you'll love it for macro and low light photography.
I personally bought a 3 cause I prefer the screen, af and video don’t matter to me, and from what I could tell the 3 had more shots per full battery. Just made more sense.
FX3 user here. a7 IV is an okay alternative for me, I can live with it. But a7 III is not gonna cut it for me 😅
I need 4:2:2 10 bit shooting SLOG 3
Its a good question which I have thought about. The price between a7iii and a7iv wasn't that much, around 600 dollar, I don't know if anyone can see the difference between 10 bit and 8 but still the new menu system feels nice and maybe 4k 60 fps can be used sometimes. But the new flexible screen is great, so I think that's about it. But it's a close call...
Was at an impasse stuck between choosing the a7iv and the a7iii. Was willing to spend a few more but i realised for people like me with not that much insight in either photos or videos, it is better to future proof lenses. The a7iii is already a beast and it is more than enough. Save that money and invest in better lenses.
I have both and for 600$ i recommend the A7iv if you use it a little for vidéo. The 10bit 422 its a game changer for color grading. The color science is better on the a7iv. The a7iii boost a little to much the red on skin tone for my taste and give you more work to make the skintone look good if your model have a little red spot on skin. With the a7iv you can switch quickly from photo to video without loosing your settings for both mode. On the a7iii you need to change the setting every time you go from photo to video. The A7iv is a 33mp sensor so you can crop more and use the supercrop mode to give you more reach with your lens ( x1.5 ) than the a7iii without to mutch quality loss. I was loving my a7iii when i use it and i have waited a long time before upgrading to the a7iv but now then i have my a7iv i really appreciate all the upgrade. For 600$ i take the a7iv without hesitation now than i try it🙂 i hope this can help to choose the right camera for you
Also if matching and using S-Cinetone to other higher end cameras is a need, A7iv is the cheapest to have it (FX30, 7SIII, FX3 being the next ones)
ZVE1?
I was in between the III and IV and went with the IV… don’t regret my decision for a single second. We shoot a good bit of long format video and the III has that 29 minute time limit, whereas the IV has no real time limit for shooting. That paired with the 33 megapixels was enough for me… although I may trade in for the V when it comes out😁
@@theendangeredpetrolhead Isn't that limit only in 4k shooting?
I like the mark Iv
I have an a7iii and paired with quality lenses like my 35mm GM and 85mm sigma it takes excellent photos.. however being a car and motorcycle photographer not having the flip screen for low angle portraits and rollers, or the ability to shoot 4k 60 is such a pain in the ass so im upgrading to the IV 😂
How to set my settings for model/family photos/ maternity? On Sony a7iii
THANKS MATE!
You're welcome!
A7iv biggest difference for me is sending raws with Bluetooth during a shoot no more dongles
Thank you
Which is the best camera to shoot ads photo and video?
Please suggest
Can U talk about a wireless microphones?
idk but the overheating for the sony a7V is too bad 💔 , i'm facing a huge trouble with that .
Do you really think there is no other option than these two? Try searching Lumix S5ii
Not at all! There are plenty of alternatives - I'm just looking at these 2 in this video. But you're right, the S5ii is a brilliant option 👌🏻
Just wait a couple of hours… Sony will release just another one 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I disagreed, because the pictures look different too. The color is way better
If A7iv croped 1.5 its same apsc?
The problem with the A7iii is that the shutter mechanism is flawed.
How so?
@@shaneanagrams some peoples shutter broke way before the threshold. with the a7iii, you should be able to get at least 200 000 shots before the shutters wear out. however, some people claim their shutters are failing at 4000ish to 20 000ish.
got so bad there's a lawsuit against sony for this.
Is it way better then the cannon r7. Need an upgrade
What about a7riii?
you forgot about the A7R3
Where to get preowned Sony ?
MPB.com is where I buy most of my used stuff as it comes with a 6 month warranty as standard
Is a used A7 III a good buy at this point?
Posibly - just be careful that you don't get one with a super high shutter count.
@@TomCaltonCan't one reset it? I think there is an option, but not sure 🤔
Get one with some kind of warranty from a reputable store.
@@Vicky-il5yvno, shutter count is like mileage or kilometer on a car. Even if you “reset it” it still went all those miles.
@@NicksASMR. Ok so you mean to say that the no./series on an image name, we get out of a camera, can't be reset? 🤔
Meanwhile, I'm still rocking the a7rii
just work more for a few weeks and get the better one
The A7IV is a lot better for wildlife due to the bird eye af. My a7iii isn't good at animal eye either.
Yeah, good point!
Do you really need animal eye autofocus to shoot animals ? It depends on your perspective and kind of glasses that might required. In your place anyone could get animal pictures with out using that feature!
Same here. AF for birds on trees might grab some brances instead of the bird.
please help me i want to sell my sony a6300 to upgrade full frame. at least sony a7sii i don't have extra money for upgrade, :(
"If you can still buy the Sony A7vIII for around 600 Dollars-"
:D
"less-"
D:
A7iii because a7iv heat very fast
A6700 🤣🤣 ofcourse APSC but 4k in 10bit 4:2:2 in 120fps
I got a6700 is it any good?
In terms of videos it's great, no limit for recording as it's 30 min in a7iii and okay ish for photography as well but in controlled light environment
bummer they downgraded the screen though
Okay im sorry, you lost all credibility when you said if your work was video based that a cropped sensor is worth it??? 😢
Cough* cough* A7iii has that stupid 30 min recording limit
Just buy the a7iii and learn to work with log
Just do your own research. Every other youtuber says the opposite.
Will either make me less shit?
No?
I'll stick to my mk2
I bought the A7iii in 2020…it’s still a workhorse for many professional photographers world wide!
@@brandonatchison3484 would you say it's still good for today?
Either go for A7III or straight to A7SIII for much better video capabilities than A7IV.
But let's also talk about a 1000€ difference compared to the sony a74, that's not a few.
How is shooting videos on A7III better than A7IV?
@@PeterPing A7 "S" III, not A7 (no "S") III
I would switch only for 10bit footage and the better flip screen, the rest is secondary; but $600 gap mmmmm 🤔
The A7 IV is probably going to be the option for me. I often shoot in portrait at low angles, and the A7 III prevents me from taking those shots with the way that screen pulls out.
that was my reason going for the a7c :)
As the previous comment points, I think it's better to get the a7c if you're not going to mess with video and cares about the screen mobility
You earned a subscriber 🎉, also please let me know how about a75
I purchased my A7iii back in 2019 and it is still an awesome camera. Now I wouldn’t mind upgrading to the A7iv for the 10 bit color and the autofocus because I think the A7iii autofocus can wonky sometimes but I’m afraid that the moment I decide to buy the A7iv then the A7V will be announced so I’ll just wait and keep trucking along with the A7iii. Still a great camera by the way.
I have both and fully agree with your conclusions. I do mostly video and use the iii as a backup and time lapse body.
I was trying to decide which to get, and while video doesn't really matter to me, neither does photo.
So I'm not getting either one.
Get a atomos ninja v and all those new specs are just the same if you use the ninja with the a7iii don’t buy the 4 the 3 is fully capable of 10 bit and 4k60 with the ninja
Just save up money to get the a7iv. The price difference isn't that huge. You're going to be a lot happier with getting the more expensive gear that you've always wanted than to buy the less expensive gear that you might regret.
Another great camera for video is the sony a6700 and it’s really great it also supports 4k/60 and even 4k/120(cropped in) and its also way cheaper
What about the a7riii vs a7riv or a7iv vs a1
A7RIII vs A7RIV depends on if you need that extra 20MP of the A7RIV.
A7IV vs A1 is not even a question if you could consider getting either of the two. A1 is the all-around main flagship, while the A7IV is a lower-tier all-around workhorse for less budget.
New folks should consider the Canon R6ii and one zoom lens. Great kit, does most everything, more user friendly and better color science. Sony has some added complication that many people like, but if you're just after photos, Canon is better. I own an A7iv and an R6ii and like the Canon colors better. But my Sony shoots better and more flexible video. If you REALLY don't care about video I'd check out the Fuji camera as well.
Now, in 2024 is it worth buying Sony alpha 7 mark 3 for 1500 dollars including kit lens or alpha 7 mark 4 for 2740 dollars including kit lens (which one do u prefer as a intermediate)
I have both, I use both all the time. The A7iii’s use case has been mainly for photos and a second angle for video, whereas the A7IV is entirely video. It’s been working well for me 👍🏽
I've already got an a7iii and i feel no need to upgrade. the only upgrade i would want is to the a7r but that's not really in my budget right now haha
I'm not sure 10 bit is worth the extra money, most people cant tell the difference.
Bought sony a7III in 2022 and if you can use it it's great
The new ergonomics, menu system, and EVF make a big difference to me - I’d always pick the a7IV even if that means saving up a bit more.
How much better is the A7iv EVF?
I just upgraded my a7ii to the a7iv, what a powerhouse this camera is! The only thing I prefer the a7ii for is the clicky buttons and the easy spinning jog wheel. The a7iv buttons are mushy and the jog wheel has a bit too much resistance in it. All that said, the a7iv’s buttons and wheel probably feel like that due to the substantial upgrade in weather sealing over the a7ii.
The new evf feels like I’m looking at a high quality 4k panel compared to the enterprise grade 1080p feeling evf in the a7ii.
Heck, if it’s saving cash and getting stunning, detailed images, the A7rII is still an absolute beast…long as you’re not using it professionally. No dual card slots and sorry battery life though
I LOVE the old flip out monitor because when you plug in cables to the left, you can't articulate it nearly as easy as the old style that always can flip up or down.
Just can't do selfie photos - but for the most part the old flip method is just better imho
I wish they had the articulated screen on the A7iii, it’s my first big jump up from my Canon 60D and I miss the ways it let me compose images without a great line of sight or up close to flat surfaces for DOF. Granted I do about 99.5% still images and the A7iii is the first camera I’ve had that really wowed me with its capabilities so my opinions definitely could change as I jump in.
@@jg-qj7ts for me that's the biggest dealbreaker, on my canon eos 70d i have touchscreen and articulated scree, and if i get the A7III i get less functions lol what. I'm gonna jump straight to A7IV
@@kingdeadshoot6019 A7iii’s IBIS and high-ISO denoising are truly magical, and I spend a fraction of the time fighting the AF compared to my old DSLRs (+extremely good continuous tracking & eye detection). Don’t get me wrong I still use my DSLRs because i have more glass for them but the raw capabilities of new cameras give me a lot more latitude to shoot later in the day, or inside without a flash/extra lights, and really challenging subjects.
@@jg-qj7tsIt is a huge jump over a DSLR. Though, the IBIS is quite bad compared to the competition nowadays (specifically the Lumix S5 II).
Just the new ergonomics and menu are worth the 600 bucks
If you shoot video go for a A7SIII or FX3 not the A7IV 😅
once you see the Sony A7iv, there is no going back to Sony A7iii
That’s how I’m and the 7III is totally fine. Still mega awesome camera
The A7III still slaps, even in 2023 👏🏻
Used camera market, you can get A7III for 1200 or even less(I got mine for$ 900) A7IV is at least 2000
Where?
I have both and use them every gig for photos and video. I absolutely love the 10-bit 4k but the A73 still has an awesome Slog2 4k. If you need extra photo detail use the A74, but I use the A73 predominately for photos, it is less intensive on my computer 👍🏽
I heard from someone who has a sony a7iv that it is weaker in low light than the sony a7iii
New lens it is. Was debating either body or glass
Pay more for the fully articulated screen.
Focus is not that great for videos in sony a7iii.
If video based, get the fx 30 and safe yourself a boatload of money. It’s a beast 👍
A7III autofocus is not as stickier as a7iv
I would get it simply for the fully articulated screen. That's the only thing I don't like about the 7iii
The 60 FPS in 4k would be the greatest difference for me. Using It for work, i can't Say how many times i Wish i had those 30 more fps.
Don’t tell me what to do.
If you're looking to buy your first full frame camera, go for A7IV. But if you already have A7III, then it's not worth the upgrade imo.
second hand a7iii selling for 1200AUD which is around 800USD anyway nowadays, wont pay more than this. (sold my a7iii for 1500AUD 2 years ago, they do come down price quick. sold my a7iv for 1800USD recently as well)
Brand new? Pay the extra $600 and get the IV. The used market is completely different. Pick up an A73 for $1200, but the A74 is still around $2200. That’s a good lens.
A7SIII better then A7IV
a7iii is horrible for me
I have start doing photo and video weddings for 2 years now with a7iii. I was between two minds for second body. During Christmas 2023 i bought a second a7iii. The price differents was huge after Sony cash back. Final price for a7iv 2199€ and for Sony a7iii 1199€. Yes it is better to some point but 1k € is to much. Imagine that actually you can almost bought one a7iii more with the money that you save!!! So i spend the saved money for a Dji S3 Mini for 290€ and i will add also a 35mm lens on my bag. In 1-2 years the a7iv it will be under 2000€ because they will launch the a7V. So we will say what to buy Sony a7iv or a7v?
Sony a7iii
The recent sale has the a7iii for $1299 - For that price, it’s the best bang for buck IMHO
Mk4 is also much more responsive in terms of navigating through different functions. I would say it definitely gives a much better usage experience
You only need 24mp of The Original A7 not all this mumbo jumbo of marketing ploys
Colour science sucks in A73
It isn't an A7 Mark iV. Sony calls it an A7iV period,. No "Mark" in the name at all.
The a73also can take continuous photo in high heat longer than the a74. And like he said. If you are taking pictures more than video then yes stay with the a73 is fine especially if you aren’t making money with the camera.
Me rocking an A7ii
I upgraded from a nikon d5200 to the Sony a7iv, I wanted to dable in video as well as continue to do photography. And I love it. ❤️
I sold my a7siii but still used my a7iii it still a my work horse good for video and photo just pair it with some good glass
Not me with an a7ii 😂
I could get the a7iii but jumping into photography outside of phone work is pricey. I still don't think I can justify the setup but it's nice to have for those special moments in life.
A7iii user here. Bought ages ago. Tried out A7iv but stuck with my old camera. I dont capture a lot of video so it works for me. But if this comparison is between the new A7cr vs A7iii. Thats a whole new story.
