Well, I still feel they already have their unique color as a group. The voice tone is outstanding among all 4-5th generation, and their rappers bring different tastes in their music. I have never seen such highest level of 7 individuals in a rookie group. Each member could debut as a solo artist right away. It’s already different from any other idle groups.

Forever is definitely their worst song, it’s so messy and sounds like several different songs mashed together. The chorus also sounds really bad with the “for or or or or e e e e e ever” it doesn’t sound good at all This is just my opinion, but I think this is their worst song and their only bad song.

100% agree that their group identity is non-existent. What is their concept? They don’t have one. When 2ne1 and blackpink did songs in different styles it still felt like them, but every baby monster release is a totally new identity. The only songs they’ve released that sound like they are from the same group is Monsters and Sheesh, like how did Like That fit their concept, album, ages, etc at all?? The fact that YG felt the need to “re-debut” them once Ahyeon rejoined was sign enough that the company has NO idea what their concept/plan is for these talented girls, which is really a shame.

I love the versatility of babymonster honestly, in the more softer songs , the vocal line show their true potential, its not that we cant show vocals in more rap based songs but sometimes it feels out of place but thankfully we have songs that show true talent of vocal line and songs that show true talent of rap line
I actually think their concept is based of their name "Babymonster", Baby can actually mean they will bring something new and fresh everytime they comeback. "Monster" can mean their versatility, as they are so talented so they can adapt to any concepts and genres.
I found it. BMs Forever and IWant+Iam by IVE shares the same feels. But its alright, coz IVE is not doing this rich elegant expensive theme anymore since kitch era... I would love to see BM take over now. They can pull off any genre.
Honestly the concept is keeping everyone on their toes. My issue is they really haven't released a SOLID banger song. Every song they've released so far is good, but isn't really making waves and/or forgettable. If ur not actively part of the fandom, it's not really a general public taste. I think BM just needs to have that one solid great song to identify themselves with.

Two good examples of dancers blending in with their group despite being a better dancer are Jhope and Niki. Like both of them are undoubtedly the best dancers in their groups but when you see them with their groups they don’t seem to ever outshadow their members. Watching fancams you can see the difference but in a team performance not so much.
But it doesn't matter how much (G)I-DLE changes their concept, people still can recognize them as (G)I-DLE because no matter what, they don't sound like any other group. That's an identity.

My add to the Babymonster mix... BM is talented, no doubt, and the girls have certainly matured quickly from their pre-debut "Dream" days, but they're still missing a leader or spokesman that could provide a "narrative" for their changes. Teddy, the "fifth member" of Blackpink was the de facto creative leader as songwriter and producer. People knew his work and could reference new work against the old and compare/contrast to see what they were driving towards. That took the onus off BP to explain themselves. (G)I-dle has been mentioned too and they're instructive as well because Soyeon is not only the leader but the writer/producer/creative director as well. Starting with having to explain her concept at formal company meetings (which they also record and playback bits of), Soyeon's got her concept pitch down cold by the time she has to explain it to the public. She's conditioned the public to expect concept changes nearly every comeback so it's never a shock. Poor Babymonster, right now, is just an undifferentiated blob. It's not a knock against the members, but YG. Right now, they're just faces and voices, but nobody stands out (yet) personality wise. Whether by design or accident, BP's members' personalities were on display from the very beginning. Jisoo was cool and serene, Rose ethereal, Jennie a cutie with a fierce side, and Lisa with that killer smile and in-your-face attitude. (She would have been a natural for K/DA's Akali if Soyeon hadn't gotten the gig.) I think that's one of the reasons they became so popular so fast. You knew who they were as individuals and the music was tailored to their individual strengths. Soyeon does the same with Idle, so even though they change concepts as often as their hair colors, there's still a consistency to their vocals that lets you look forwards to hearing them as well as all the bts videos showing them at work crafting the song. It may be that YG wants them to stay as a blob because they're easier to control that way. No "Blackpink House" for BM where you'd get to see the members in normal surroundings and interacting with each other. I think YG may be playing a tricky game of trying to make the group successful without making the individual members stars that will want more creative say. We'll have to see...
Maybe they do stray kids.. Do every concept in their own style.. for example, No matter if it's romance or dark, when there is stray kids, you know it's gonna be noisy, so many raps or many elements from usual skz songs
Group identity is very important. Unless groups concept is “change” then a lot of the times it doesn’t go over well in the long run. For example red velvet was introduced to the market as a group who was going to do concepts that were fun up beat and bright like the color red but then also do songs that were more vocally complex, a slower tempo, stylistically R&B which was called their velvet side. So when you introduce a group to the market like that you already set that expectation of “they’re going to be giving different concepts but have a different style sonically” their identity revolves around changing concepts.
I think it kinda fits though you and batter up which was powerful in its own way then had stuck in the middle which was more light. Right after you had sheesh which is more powerful and then you have forever which is light in its own way. In my opinion that’s like their concept. Since blackpink for example black represents empowerment while pink represents more girly like. (Not comparing them saying Babymon copied at all!) But then babymonster it kinda similar since you have the baby which gives me more light vibes while monster gives me darker vibes. There other groups who have similar identities/vibes so what’s the issue? (I’m not hating on the creator btw)

And is that required? Not at all, except if you want to sell your groups like curated products targeting a specific market on debut. BABYMONSTER is growing as a group and artists naturally, their young people trying out new things. Their company doesn't want to put them in a box for now (which according to you is not good for them), which shows they aren't that greedy.

you can be versatile while still having a group identity. some groups have a specific sound that stays consistent in their music throughout concepts, some have a consistent concept and different sounds, and some have consistent messages through their music. bm's music just seems very random and incoherent at the moment, but they have potential to completely rock whatever they decide to have overarch their music !
I love the versatility of babymonster honestly, in the more softer songs , the vocal line show their true potential, its not that we cant show vocals in more rap based songs but sometimes it feels out of place but thankfully we have songs that show true talent of vocal line and songs that show true talent of rap line
I actually think their concept is based of their name "Babymonster", Baby can actually mean they will bring something new and fresh everytime they comeback. "Monster" can mean their versatility, as they are so talented so they can adapt to any concepts and genres.
I found it. BMs Forever and IWant+Iam by IVE shares the same feels. But its alright, coz IVE is not doing this rich elegant expensive theme anymore since kitch era... I would love to see BM take over now. They can pull off any genre.

Honestly the concept is keeping everyone on their toes. My issue is they really haven't released a SOLID banger song. Every song they've released so far is good, but isn't really making waves and/or forgettable. If ur not actively part of the fandom, it's not really a general public taste. I think BM just needs to have that one solid great song to identify themselves with.

We all know BM can serve, but they always get outshined music wise by other groups with solid songs. They got the views, they got the streams, they got the fans... but they're missing the music part. Not to say their music is bad, just not bangers after bangers like you expect with Blackpink.

Two good examples of dancers blending in with their group despite being a better dancer are Jhope and Niki. Like both of them are undoubtedly the best dancers in their groups but when you see them with their groups they don’t seem to ever outshadow their members. Watching fancams you can see the difference but in a team performance not so much.

BM is talented, no doubt, and the girls have certainly matured quickly from their pre-debut "Dream" days, but they're still missing a leader or spokesman that could provide a "narrative" for their changes. Teddy, the "fifth member" of Blackpink was the de facto creative leader as songwriter and producer. People knew his work and could reference new work against the old and compare/contrast to see what they were driving towards. That took the onus off BP to explain themselves.
(G)I-dle has been mentioned too and they're instructive as well because Soyeon is not only the leader but the writer/producer/creative director as well. Starting with having to explain her concept at formal company meetings (which they also record and playback bits of), Soyeon's got her concept pitch down cold by the time she has to explain it to the public. She's conditioned the public to expect concept changes nearly every comeback so it's never a shock.
Poor Babymonster, right now, is just an undifferentiated blob. It's not a knock against the members, but YG. Right now, they're just faces and voices, but nobody stands out (yet) personality wise. Whether by design or accident, BP's members' personalities were on display from the very beginning. Jisoo was cool and serene, Rose ethereal, Jennie a cutie with a fierce side, and Lisa with that killer smile and in-your-face attitude. (She would have been a natural for K/DA's Akali if Soyeon hadn't gotten the gig.) I think that's one of the reasons they became so popular so fast. You knew who they were as individuals and the music was tailored to their individual strengths. Soyeon does the same with Idle, so even though they change concepts as often as their hair colors, there's still a consistency to their vocals that lets you look forwards to hearing them as well as all the bts videos showing them at work crafting the song.
It may be that YG wants them to stay as a blob because they're easier to control that way. No "Blackpink House" for BM where you'd get to see the members in normal surroundings and interacting with each other. I think YG may be playing a tricky game of trying to make the group successful without making the individual members stars that will want more creative say. We'll have to see...
Maybe they do stray kids.. Do every concept in their own style.. for example, No matter if it's romance or dark, when there is stray kids, you know it's gonna be noisy, so many raps or many elements from usual skz songs

Group identity is very important. Unless groups concept is “change” then a lot of the times it doesn’t go over well in the long run. For example red velvet was introduced to the market as a group who was going to do concepts that were fun up beat and bright like the color red but then also do songs that were more vocally complex, a slower tempo, stylistically R&B which was called their velvet side. So when you introduce a group to the market like that you already set that expectation of “they’re going to be giving different concepts but have a different style sonically” their identity revolves around changing concepts.

I think it kinda fits though you and batter up which was powerful in its own way then had stuck in the middle which was more light. Right after you had sheesh which is more powerful and then you have forever which is light in its own way. In my opinion that’s like their concept. Since blackpink for example black represents empowerment while pink represents more girly like. (Not comparing them saying Babymon copied at all!) But then babymonster it kinda similar since you have the baby which gives me more light vibes while monster gives me darker vibes. There other groups who have similar identities/vibes so what’s the issue? (I’m not hating on the creator btw)
